So this is actually a fork of Bitcoin, called Bitcoin Cash (important difference) but there are a variety of options that you can use.
If your primary goal is to convert it to some sort of fiat currency (USD/Euros) there should be multiple exchanges available, for example Coinbase/Bitstamp for USA/EU appropriately.
But there remain multiple options for directly using it such as https://cryptonize.it.
So how to withdraw and use? First off you're going to need a wallet to hold your Bitcoin Cash (BCH). So an easy way is through Bitcoin.com and their wallet app on desktop/iOS/Play Store
Once you have setup, it should walk you through the basics of crypto, and how to "secure" it. The layaman's explanation is that there is an inconceivably large amount of PO Boxes, that if you randomly opened any of them, there is a near 100% percent chance (the sun would die before all computers in the world could finish bruteforcing a single wallet) that someone could guess the exact ID of your wallet (this is in the form of 12 random words picked from a dictionary).
But in the end you should be able to go to a receive tab and it should allow you to copy a wallet address, an example being something like:
bitcoincash:qrn7fmd6895qddlp0fu8a4e9cn8dexpypcjqqg2u7v
Using instructions here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tippr/wiki/reddit-usage
You should be able to withdraw, and from there either send it to a wallet setup by an exchange or use it for something like cryptonize.it :)
Hope that helps!
I usually recommend the Bitcoin.com wallet for mobile devices and Electron Cash for desktop devices. Electron Cash has CashShuffle implemented, which is a big leap for on-chain privacy in BCH and is a lot of fun to play around with. /u/chaintip
Wallet of Satoshi has a big red button that says "Log in to Backup". So how is this not custodial? If you want a good custodial solution, try Zelle, Venmo or PayPal. It's all the same.
If you want money that doesn't depend on a third party's constant permission and approval, try Bitcoin Cash: ElectronCash.org, BRD wallet or wallet.bitcoin.com (not open source).
>I've been slowly realizing this bitcoin not adjusting blocksize, which really have delayed mass adoption, I remember steam was accepting bitcoin back then when I just started, in fact it was my first bitcoin tx, buying on steam.
If you're interested in utility, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) continues the objective of a peer-to-peer electronic cash system with cheap, easy, and reliable transactions. Other projects went a different direction.
Just download a wallet such as the Bitcoin.com wallet and try sending a friend $1 worth of Bitcoin Cash and $1 worth of BTC. Which works better?
Bitcoin Cash aims to be upgraded money for the world.

The intentionally crippled coin has/is causing problems that are widespread.
Another example are the many wallets that still dont default to 1-sat/byte tx fees on BCH, because they are infected with the crippled coin fee calc. disease! It takes the wallet creator EXTRA work to separate the fee calc. from the crippled coin variable fee abomination. Fortunately the Bitcoin.com wallet does NOT have this problem!
Bitpay & Copay wallets are the only wallets that don't recognize legacy BCH addresses.
For this reason, I recommend the Bitcoin.com wallet (BIP70 compatible), which works with Bitpay-enabled merchants, and recognizes both legacy & CashAddr formats. The other benefit is that with a Bitcoin.com wallet, you don't have to create a Bitcoin BTC wallet by default.
The Bitcoin.com and Electron Cash mobile wallets can be used to pay Bitpay merchants.
The Bitcoin.com wallet is free, open source, and available for Android, iOS, Mac OS, Linux, and Windows:
https://github.com/Bitcoin-com/Wallet
Electron Cash is also free, open source, and available for Android, iOS, Mac OS, Linux, and Windows:
Nice try troll...
the intentionally crippled coin fees are still nearly 30x that of BCH
Bottom line, virtually EVERY BCH tx gets into the very next block consistently and reliably with just 1-sat/byte fee setting. Can the intentionally crippled coin say this?
NO, the intentionally crippled coin fees/tx time vary, it just depends!
Some wallets supporting BCH have crippled coin fee calculation infection-they use HIGHER than 1-sat fee settings when it is NEVER needed on BCH!
The Bitcoin.com wallet defaults to just 1-sat/byte fee setting and works reliably...
Unlike the fine folks managing the Bitcoin.com wallet, Copay has (thus far) just not bothered to separate fee calculation between the crippled coin and BCH. I refer to this as the crippled coin infection for BCH fee calculation.
So yes, BCH fees on Copay will be relatively high->very high because they havent fixed the BCH fee setting to just 1-sat/byte by default for ALL priority tx like the Bitcoin.com wallet.
BCH is usable as cash, although its value fluctuates. BTC may increase in value, because people buy it to speculate. For the same reason it may also decrease in value (a lot) when trust in magic disappears. It may still be useful to transfer large amounts of money, but less for everyday payments.
I recommend to try using BCH. Here is a little: /u/chaintip
Download a wallet, put the BCH in your wallet and forward it to a friend who is also curious using the send function of the wallet.
With Bitpay merchants, you have to use a Bitpay-compatible wallet.
The Bitcoin.com wallet is probably the best choice for doing BCH transactions, especially with Bitpay merchants (NewEgg.com, PrivateInternetAccess.com, NameCheap.com, Apmex.com, etc).
As long as you're using BCH and a Bitpay-compatible wallet, the transaction happens within seconds.
I had a similar issue and downloaded the desktop version of the bitcoin.com wallet. You can get it here (scroll to the bottom where it says "Also available for Mac, Windows, and Linux.") My seed phrase + password worked fine and the balance showed up.
Seems like some wallets must still have their default fee settings WRONG (infected with crippled coin disease). Every tx I have EVER done on BCH using the proper and always supported 1-sat/byte has ALWAYS been well below 1-cent. And typically about 1/5th-of-1-cent.
The Bitcoin.com and Electron Cash wallets do not have this problem and default to 1-sat/byte.
For in-person payments, you could easily just use the Bitcoin.com wallet and possibly the Bitcoin Cash Register app if you don't want to store your private keys (allow the BCH to be sent/spent from) your POS phone or tablet. For online payments, you'll almost certainly want to use a payment gateway (here's a list).
Simple Ledger Protocol allows creation of tokens on Bitcoin Cash. Anyone can create their own token, for any reason or application! It's probably the easiest token creation in all of cryptocurrency.
The only requirement is an SLP compatible wallet. I'm familiar with Electron Cash SLP edition and the Bitcoin.com wallet, but there may be others. (If someone is using a different SLP compatible wallet, I hope they will post a link to it.)
An SLP address looks like this: simpleledger:qqh2fa0qk6tk2lkexgt6qt98xv44tnehfyxwshu0k5
I'm so excited about SLP tokens because anyone can now use tokens in their own applications, including computer games, loyalty or rewards programs, android or iOS apps, or just for fun.
wallet.bitcoin.com, under "other versions", says the github location is https://github.com/bitcoin-portal/bitcoin-wallet-releases/releases, but there's no better information there. I've heard a developer say "we don't push updates to github because apple blocks an update API, and breaks update notifications for that platform." Don't know how much sense that makes, but that's what I heard. Issues on both githubs don't get answered for long periods of time. No development happens on either githubs. And this gives me a very uneasy feeling.
https://github.com/Bitcoin-com/Wallet
It’s free, open source, and available on iOS, Android, Mac OS, Linux, and Windows.
Electron Cash is open source and available for Android, iOS, Mac OS, Linux, and Windows:
The link to the wallet page just takes you here https://wallet.bitcoin.com/
If you don’t have the wallet, you can download it. Since you said you have it already, just copy and paste the Bitcoin address to the Buy Page and continue.
> BCH=$0.03 [tx fee]
Only may appear this high because:
Many wallets have crippled coin infection fee calculation disease (not the Bitcoin.com wallet) and cant/wont use just 1-sat/byte fee which still always gets into the next block
Some tx's have been shown (via blockexplorers) to use as much as 300-sat/byte (clearly not needed or required) which will skew ave. stats.
In reality, crippled coin fees even now are still over 10x that of BCH which has fees consistantly well below 1-cent (USD). At current price level, BCH tx fee is typically just .002 USD (1/5^th cent)

for a choice of wallets https://bitcoincash.org/#wallets (and info)
but you won't go far wrong with the Bitcoin.com wallet https://wallet.bitcoin.com/ it's what I use for small sums like chaintip.
Are you accessing it from the mobile or computer? What browser are you using? I notice that link is doing a redirect to https://wallet.bitcoin.com/
Normally, for these issues, I would do a traceroute command to see at which point specifically the connection has problem. And work out from there.
Agreed - but I've sometimes been in DMs with people on Twitter or Facebook where I wanted to send them a link (a la https://wallet.bitcoin.com/payment/), so for me it would be ideal. Not sure whether more people want it though and how much effort it is - I just know it would be great for me personally :)
> im looking to get into bitcoin cash, any advice or like what to do and where to start?
Get a wallet such as the Bitcoin.com wallet: https://wallet.bitcoin.com/
Copy the Bitcoin Cash receiving address and paste it into a private message to chaintip.
You'll receive the Bitcoin Cash that Remora_101 gave you as a gift in another comment.
Bitcoin Cash transactions are nearly free, so it's easy to try it out by sending a few cents between friends and family.
The Bitcoin.com wallet is not custodial.
Bitcoin.com wallet is probably the best choice, since it supports Bitpay merchant payments in BCH, and also supports both CashAddr & legacy address formats for BCH. And you have the option of creating a BCH wallet without creating a BTC wallet (Bitpay Wallet & Copay Wallet automatically have you create a BTC wallet when you first start the program).
I tipped you 100 dollars worth of Bitcoin Cash.
If you download a Bitcoin Cash wallet like https://wallet.bitcoin.com then you can tell the chaintip bot to send the Bitcoin Cash there.
you can buy a walmart gifcard with it using https://www.egifter.com/bitcoin-cash/walmart-gift-card-bitcoin-cash
If you don't get your own wallet and send the BCH to it then in 7 days the chaintip bot sends the BCH back to me.
Merry Christmas.
(you can also sell the BCH and get a 100 dollars for it, or keep it in BCH and see what happens to it)
Alright, let me help you understand, since you've been struggling for 3 hours now:
> your argument is that the PREVIOUS wallet that is no longer available already had it, is that right?
Well, this right proves you cannot comprehend what I'm saying. First, the older versions are still available, for both mobile and desktop. Don't believe me? Sorry to break it to you. and it looks like you should do more research. The second link is from the list of every release for the Wallet, which is found directly on https://wallet.bitcoin.com.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
And no, my argument was that your math was incorrect from the get-go. Your original comment stated that Segwit support would be available in 2028, as 2028-2017=11, which is the same amount of time you seem to think the Bitcoin.com Wallet took to get multisig support. This is false, since multisig has been available in the wallet before this point. Seeing as the Bitcoin.com Wallet was released in 2017 with multisig support, that makes the actual "time frame" of 7 years. (Obviously it didn't take 7 years to implement, so your comment was stupid to begin with, but anyway...) Thus, with this "development schedule" of 7 years, that means Segwit support should be available in 2024, since 2017+7=2024.
See? You failed at basic math. Glad I could help you understand this! Now, I'm off to eat dinner, so goodbye!
Right now possibly the most convenient SLP token wallet might be the Bitcoin.com wallet.
Bitcoin Cash SLP tokens are still new. I expect they will be used a lot more in the future because they are the bomb! I'm really excited about the potential with Bitcoin Cash.
Sorry to hear about your cat. They are truly amazing creatures.
Just to double-check, is this the wallet you're using: https://wallet.bitcoin.com/ ?
Also what's the "new more secure wallet" you're talking about?
A dusting attack should not mean any "risk" for your funds. The idea behind them is to cause you to inadvertently use previously unrelated UTXOs as inputs to the same transaction, thus indicating that they are owned by the same person. In other words it is an attack on privacy / a way to make "blockchain analysis" more tractable.
It's weird that this would cause a problem with sending transactions. What's the actual error message that you get?
I assume this wallet doesn't have "coin control" features (meaning a way to choose explicitly which UTXOs get used for a transaction). So my advice would be to use a wallet that does have this feature to deal with the dust UTXOs. Basically you'd want to send your non-dust UTXOs to unique addresses in your new wallet, and (optionally, because the fees + low value of dust may make this not worth the time) consolidate all dust UTXOs for a given address into another address in your new wallet (if you got dusted on several different addresses then treat each of those groups separately).
From what I could tell bitcoin.com wallet does have the standard 12-word seed phrase recovery so that is an easy way to load the keys for this wallet into a different wallet software that offers coin control. You could use electrum on desktop for example. I think you could follow these instructions, they are for Exodus but should basically work the same.
Hello, I'm unable to send CATs to this address. See if your wallet can generate an SLP compatible address. More BCH wallets are expected to support Simple Ledger Tokens. So far I'm aware of the Bitcoin.com wallet and Electron Cash SLP edition and the Mint web wallet. I can't wait to send you some Cat Appreciation Tokens!
Forget binance for a second. Get your own wallet an learn the ropes than you will probably also understand binance withdrawl and deposit better. Bitcoin Cashs ticker is BCH btw.
Ok, go here: https://wallet.bitcoin.com and download the wallet from your appstore.
Here is a short explanation how a wallet works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7maNVTM8B1E
To receive the tip into this wallet copy the BCH receive address and send it to chaintip (https://old.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=chaintip) The bot then sends you sour tip all future tips will be directly send to this address.
Haha sure thing! Let me know if you need any help. Just FYI, there are multiple versions of Bitcoin, and the version I sent you is the one that still has low fees and is meant for day-to-day transactions. (It's called "Bitcoin Cash", and has the ticker symbol "BCH".)
Basically you just get a wallet and send the bot your BCH address in a private message. You can get any wallet, but this is a good option to start:
Yeah use Bitcoin Cash with the Bitcoin.com wallet for your phone and Electron Cash for linux, windows, or mac.
These are light wallets, they don't take much space and they are fast and cheap and you control all your own priv keys.
Ahh, I'd totally misunderstood that.
I know that exists for Bitcoin Cash (check this website out https://wallet.bitcoin.com/payment/), and it exists for Nano though not as spiffy-looking as for Bitcoin Cash (https://heytip.me/).
Can't help you for Lightning though, sorry.
What kind of wallet? On a phone you could use a simple wallet like the one from bitcoin.com for both BCH and BTC. If you want more control use Electron Cash for BCH or Electrum for BTC. Test one of the BCH ones with some BCH! u/chaintip
cryptocurrency cannot be "charged back". If you need to pay bills or something, you'd want to sign up for coinbase or bitpay so they can exchange it to USD into your bank account.
Hi justinbro430 - The quick answer to your question is, yes, it should work. However, there are a lot of asterisks with that. There is a big enough risk something could go wrong that I myself wouldn't do it and I'm an expert (been involved since 2011), especially if the amount is significant.
My advice is to learn to use an individual wallet. It's not hard. It shouldn't take you more than 20-30 minutes including download time. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are not going away. So there is a very low chance your learning would go to waste. You also have people here willing to walk you through things so there is really little excuse not to. I recommend the wallet from Bitcoin.com because in addition to being one of the best, it allows you to work with both BTC and BCH.
Haha sure thing. I guess I'm not the person to assure you of this, but it's definitely not a scam xD I just like to tip content on reddit that I appreciate. Someday I hope that there will be entire economies around providing valuable content on the internet, enabled by microtransactions in amounts anywhere from cents to a couple dollars =)
Here's a really quick rundown about it if you're curious:
Bitcoin has actually split into multiple versions. The version I sent you is the one I think works best, called Bitcoin "Cash". To claim the tip, you just message the bot with an address, and it will forward the tip I sent it straight to you. To get an address, you can create a wallet using a free wallet app for your smartphone, browser, or computer, it's totally up to you. There's no sign-up process or anything like that, it's basically like using cash—but over the internet.
Any questions feel free to ask!
You don't need to "make an account". Just download the bitcoin.com wallet (or another wallet) and you're set.
If you use Bitcoin.com's wallet then you can go to free.bitcoin.com to get your first Bitcoin Cash.
electron cash = forked from electrum. 100% open source code. Years of use
electron cash = bch especially good for desktop https://electroncash.org/
electrum = btc. especially good for desktop https://electrum.org/
bitcoin.com = based from copay wallet software. Also open source. Years of use.

In that case, you can use pretty much any wallet such as the Bitcoin.com wallet. You would copy the seed/recovery phrase, then use the “Import wallet” option to create a wallet on everybody else’s device with the same seed phrase.
Or for multi-currency, use edge wallet with the same username/password credentials:
However, multiple people sharing the same wallet credentials is very dangerous. Who are you going to blame when the funds inevitably go missing?
I’d reconsider using a multisig wallet such as the Bitcoin.com wallet:
For example, if you have 5 band members, you can have a 2-of-5 multisig wallet so that any 2 members can approve a fund transfer, but everybody can see the balances.
This way, funds aren’t lost if one person’s device is compromised or they write their seed phrase on a Post-it note on their guitar.
The Bitcoin.com wallet has a multisig (“shared wallet”) option:
The Bitpay and Copay wallets also support multisig (based on the same open source code as the Bitcoin.com wallet).

The safest thing is almost always to maintain control of your own private keys. This will guarantee that you can recover your funds on both sides of any persistent chain split that occurs.
This is an easy to use and popular Bitcoin Cash wallet: https://wallet.bitcoin.com/
I asked you a question.
Bitcoin.com receives millions of pageviews when bitcoin increases in price.
Millions of wallets have been downloaded.
The people behind bitcoin.com happen to be moderators of this sub who often promote their website to direct business.
They dishonestly pair inaccurate ticker symbols with inaccurate names and provide direct links to purchase crypto with deceptive name/ticker pairings.
In the case of crypto a lot of the shilling did appear to come thru a US military base. Who is probably just a provider.
You are referring to Bitcoin Cash (BCH). Don't "hawk" it, lol. Use it for buying things. It's by far the most simple and useful of the crypto currencies. Best way to get started is to download the Bitcoin.com wallet.

Sure, you can ShapeShift BCH to BTC or BCH to another coin (Ethereum for example). If you have a wallet that supports BCH, you can just keep it too! :)) If you download the Bitcoin.com Wallet you can hold both coins (BCH and BTC).
> And not a single wallet I ever used, except Mycellium (which I stopped using years ago for Coinomi) supports BitPay.
Use a BIP70 compatible wallet, like Bitcoin.com Wallet.
Many if not most BCH wallets originally had "high" fees by default. They were infected by the crippled coin/just copied over the fee calculation. The Bitcoin.com wallet does not have this problem (fees default to 1-sat/byte).
I expect at least some of this decline in fees is due to wallets improving/reducing their default fee settings. I have no way of knowing what % of the overall drop these wallets fee changes have contributed.
There are still many BCH wallets that dont default to 1-sat/byte fees. So the good news is we should expect to see the ave. fee to continue to drop, though surely not at the same rate-we are getting close the bottom (with 1-sat/byte).
Exchanges have had the same crippled coin fee infection problem!
