The tool you probably really want is ClipMate. http://www.thornsoft.com/
It is not open source, but is reasonably priced and rock solid. I have been using it since the early 90's.
It does pretty much anything you want to do with the clipboard, including allowing full SQL searches of your clip history, custom macro's for fixing MS Quotes, the ability to share your clip history across a network if you want, and a LOT more.
Does anyone use a Clipboard manager? I have been using ClipMate Clipboard Extender (by Thornsoft) for many years, but even though it still works ok, it seems very dated and is overkill for my needs. They also haven't updated it in quite a while. Anyone have any recommendations?
Until I stopped using Windows at home, I always made ClipMate (http://www.thornsoft.com) the first thing I installed. Otherwise, I'd agree about SnagIt (https://www.techsmith.com/snagit.html). Greenshot (http://getgreenshot.org) is also good.
It really is! And I've only barely described what all can do. Back in the day, it was one of the first "shareware" apps that I actually paid for, and it was worth every penny more. And they kept adding more and more useful features to it.

It does show its age a little bit, but it's become an essential part of my tool set.
