Hi! Thanks a lot for the kind words. I'm very glad you're finding all that you need in Diarly!
Image quality and resolution is really up to you. All images are stored, uncompressed and unencrypted, in an accessible database. This serves two purposes: You can access and edit files without having to do so through Diarly, and if you ever forget your password, your images are easily recoverable.
If you're using cross-device sync, the images and database will be synced via iCloud, so keep that in mind when deciding on file sizes: if the images are huge or uncompressed, and take up a lot of space, you might need to get extra iCloud storage space.
Larger images also tend to take longer to sync and load, so if you're considering adding thousands of photos you might want to make them smaller.
Hi codq, Cécile from Diarly here! I'm also a morning journal person, I use Diarly as a way to wake my brain up and get ready for the day.
When setting up prompts, the suggestions you see there are just that, suggestions. You can add anything you want! In the morning, I personally like to reflect on the day before, do some gratitude journaling, and set an intention for the day ahead. So a good prompt for me would be three titles or questions that get me thinking about that:
This is just an example, and I encourage you to shape your prompts to reflect what you want to achieve with your journaling practice. Feel free to use the powers of Markdown to format it just the way you like.
Additionally, you can set up custom notifications to remind you to journal in the morning. I have mine set up to remind me just after my wake-up alarm — but again, use Diarly's flexibility to shape it for you and your routines.
Enjoy journaling!
Hello,
If you have a backup (Export > Diarly) then you can delete everything:
Guess it depends which platform you are in, on iOS its enough to delete the app, on mac there is option in Help menu. More info here: https://diarly.app/help/Removing-Diarly/
On Mac, you can also cmd-shift-a on list view to select evertyhing and then Right click > Delete. This way you could leave your non-facebook posts.
Might I ask how did you Import FB posts? this sounds like maybe useful importer for Diarly 🙂
On Mac you can right click on the selected notes to move them all, please see the gif in this article: https://diarly.app/help/how-to-export-journals/

When importing to Diarly you will have to zip the folder back again. Diarly is looking for .zip in directories.
Hey! Your data is stored in the Library: ~/Library/Containers/com.pureformstudio.diaryOSX/Data/Library/Application\Support/com.pureformstudio.diaryOSX/data
. Keep in mind that if you're using a password the notes will be encrypted, so you can only read the attachments, like images and videos.
If you want to have all your notes and files in one neatly packaged archive, you can export to Markdown — on Mac, you'll find that in File > Export > Markdown (Diarly). This is the easiest way to make a backup or access all notes and files. The notes and files are organized by years in folders, and everything is easy to find.
anyone genuinly interested in a 'Bear'-version of a journal/diary should look at this.
