Similar story here, got in because of an open source game Digital Paintball 2. It is based on Quake 2 engine and had some awesome keybind scripts to automate parkour and strafe jumping.
:P Handling parents that thought I was wasting time on computer was the most difficult part.
hi - thanks for taking the time to respond to my post - sorry for the huge delay in getting back (i know this will probably mean no response) - had a few real world issues in the last week.
The game I am testing is an old one.
(based on quake 2 engine.)
I personally think its great - plays like an Amiga game - once you get the hang of the jumping its like you have 'the force'..
Anyway it seems to be effecting KDE - Gnome3 doesn't suffer the same issue. i.e without explicitly enabling twinview/xorg.conf.
Tested on Arch - Gnome 3.10.4/Kde 4.12.2 - only kde has the issue. Gnome3 - default settings it is fine/optimal speed.
Opensuse 13.1 / Kde 4.11 is the same.
