Edit: I happen to be the founder of DistroKid, which is an easy way to get your music into Spotify, iTunes etc. Sorry if this edit seems spammy but I figured with the pic of my new kit blowing up somewhat, I should take the opportunity. Thanks for reading! If you're interested, http://distrokid.com
Excellent story. Kind of reminds me of the studio scene from the movie Once.
In case you haven't seen or heard via posts on this sub, it appears that DistroKid is the best way to digitally distribute your tunes. It's $20/yr for unlimited songs/albums. I plan to switch over from TuneCore once our new release is ready.
I'd check out Distrokid - $19.99/year. Upload unlimited songs and keep 100% of your royalties! It's definitely the best deal around that I've found. Your music gets uploaded to iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, and a ton of other platforms.
If you use sign up using this referral you get 7% off the yearly price and I make $5 :)
Through http://distrokid.com . Pretty good service, I recommend it so far. I talked with my grandmother and she told me she would do anything to help me progress, so we talked with the whole family and everyone helped to get me the plan. It's not that expensive, though. I got the 35,99$ a year plan.
Just got this email;
" Hi, thanks for reaching out! I'm happy to help.
Thanks for your patience while we reviewed your case. It looks like your account was flagged and deactivated due to suspicions of fraudulent activity. However, after further review, we have reinstated your account and re-enabled access to your Bank.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to reinstate your deleted releases, but you can, if you wish, restore your account and re-upload them at any time using the exact same metadata and they should reappear in stores as they were before.
I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, and I have refunded your subscription fee and all charges associated with your releases for the past year. Depending on processing time on your bank's end, you should expect to see those hit your account within 7 days.
If you need any help with restoring your account or re-uploading your releases, please don't hesitate to reach out and I'll be happy to assist.
Thanks very much for your understanding, and again we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Best,
Perry

Hello, Blair here! Thanks for writing in.
The latest report from Spotify came in November 2021 for earnings from September 2021.
All earnings we have received from stores thus far can be seen at https://www.distrokid.com/bank. Keep in mind that sales reports and payments are available to you based on when DistroKid receives sales numbers and earnings from stores.
It generally takes a few months for stores to report any earnings, but some stores do report less frequently (quarterly, 1-2x/yr, etc.). For more information about this, please check out the FAQ article, here: https://distrokid.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360013547274
To see detailed information about your streams and sales once stores have reported your earnings, visit Bank, and click "See Excruciating Detail."

Hey there,
At this time, Napster is not accepting new releases from DistroKid. We'll be sure to let you know when Napster submissions are available again in the future.
I hope this helps clarify somethings, and apologies for the inconvenience!
Kind regards,

Hi,
When you request a withdrawal, it takes generally about 14 days for it to be processed on our end.
Some requests, however are flagged for further review, and it looks like yours was one of them.
If there's any issue, we'll notify you shortly. Otherwise, the withdrawal will be sent within the next couple of weeks.
Thanks so much for your patience!

There's services that take care of it for you for a pretty reasonable fee, http://distrokid.com/ is what i used, but soundcloud has an offering as part of their premium bundle, and I think there's a few others out there.

Put it out on all platforms using a service like Distrokid. That way it has the opportunity to reach the widest audience. You never know which person on what platform where in the world might enjoy it.
If you want you can use my link to get a discount on a subscription to DK: http://distrokid.com/vip/DJCouchKing
Not classy or professional to add your own DistroKid discount link over someone doing the exact same thing.
Not much else I can do here but add mine! Do the right thing, people who are interested! lol

Also as a DistroKid rep who is being commissioned, I don’t think it’s wise or tasteful for you to talk up competing companies. Of course different companies have their pros and cons, but you’re sort of trampling on a lot of feet here, if you see what I mean. Best of luck.
>Distrokid has over and over again failed to answer questions
If you're not getting a reply from DistroKid, please check your spam filter. We reply to all email.
>A lot of people have issues
To be honest (please don't take this as flippant) most people are able to figure out how to use DistroKid and other internet services (YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, etc) without needing assistance from customer support. Also we have an FAQ (here) with 400 articles that explain how to use DistroKid's various features.
However, there are around a million people who use DistroKid and sometimes they email us and we try really hard to help them understand how to operate the website. I also personally work really hard on making the website as clear and easy-to-use as possible but I'm always improving it and taking feedback seriously.
Thank you
This is the response I received after 5 business days:

Hi, thanks for reaching out! I'm happy to help.
Unfortunately, due to the sample-heavy nature of the genres, Audiam is no longer accepting Hip Hop or Electronic releases for Content ID regardless of the distributor.
DistroKid has no control over this matter.
So sorry!
Best,
Shaye DistroKid Support http://distrokid.com
Hello,
We've been notified that one or more of your releases has been rejected due to editorial discretion.
There are a few reasons why this may have happened. Some possible reasons are: Too many similar releases from same artist (flooding) Poor quality sound recording Poor quality artwork Similar content already in stores (ex: "rain sounds" and that sort of thing)
Sorry about this.
While the vast majority of releases are approved for distribution, stores do occasionally curate content. This is to ensure that end-users have a high-quality experience. This doesn't mean your music is bad. It just means that stores don't need this release at the moment.
Stores are no longer accepting releases from you via DistroKid. Please try another distributor.
Best,
Mason DistroKid Support
It definitely isn't the first, I have about a dozen songs from this artist alias and no more over 3 months. The second & third reasons are completely up to opinion but my music definitely isn't a bad quality otherwise I wouldn't upload. And yeah, I don't put the same ambience noises in all of my tracks.
I got this message from DistroKid, I think also they are not very clear and honest with their customer, an issue like this just destroyed my business:

Hi,
Due to multiple concerns, stores are no longer accepting releases from you via DistroKid. We've already issued you a refund and you should see that reflected on your card in the next 10-14 days.
Please try another distributor.

and if noone is interested, then have a look at self-publishing your tracks via distrokid ( http://distrokid.com/ ) or other services
Well, if you like paying for things the people behind Fandalism are also the creators of DistroKid. For $19.99 one can upload as much music as they want for a year.
I'm not a recording musician, just work in entertainment, so I've never used either service. I'm just putting it out there for anyone who's interested.
