I'm sorry that you're seeing this :-( As /u/draica pointed out, unfortunately this has been around for a while and is a virus or fake virus pretending to be from us. We have nothing to do with a system.exe file - the only installable files we have right now are browser extensions and our mobile app ( https://duckduckgo.com/app ). If you see anything else similar to this, please stay well away from it and feel free to ask again here whenever you're unsure.
Sure. You run some Facebook embed (e.g. like button, page preview, Facebook pixel) on your website and it runs JS on the users' machine. Its goal is to identify Facebook users for each website visited via third-party cookies (and presumably browser fingerprinting), so that they will know where you go on the internet.
In HomeBank's case, it looks like an innocent embedded Like button but this stuff is blocked for me, too. Firefox now blocks third-party tracking cookies and code, and in addition to that I use the DuckDuckGo extension and hosts file blocking. This way I don't have to bother with NoScript - most sites break without JS. I'm a JS dev, so I don't want to block JS anyway. :)
Install the Duckduckgo app from here:- https://duckduckgo.com/app/android.apk
Then on Trebuchet, Long Press on a blank area. Widgets scroll to Duckduckgo and drop it on your home page.
You can position it to act just like the Google one.
I'm happy with:
Why? It has a clean, simple UI, has good performance, and is privacy-friendly.
Hi. There are a couple of ways a website can track other websites you've visited.
In terms of protection, the first case is part of how the web works so it's usually not possible to hide which site you clicked a link on. If you want to hide this, it's best to just copy the link and than paste it into the browser's address bar directly.
The second case is possible to block, especially if the third-part code (e.g. Like buttons) contain hidden trackers. That's what the DuckDuckGo app and extension try to do – block code that contains third-party trackers on websites you visit.
I hope that helps. By the way, for general privacy questions like this you may get better answers on the /r/privacy subreddit whereas this subreddit is better for DuckDuckGo-specific questions and feedback.
DuckDuckGo makes a living with contextual ads, which is much more sustainable. Try their browser add-on, their tracker data base is so good Apple partly implemented it into Safari.
Goolag free driving app!
And get the duck duck go mobile Browser!
Qwant has one too!
I prefer DDG! Also for the DDG users get to know DDG “bang” commands to quickly navigate to other search engines if DDG isn’t giving the results you need!
I also recommend getting the Bitwarden password wallet instead of saving your sensitive data to Chrome cause then Goolag has access to your shit. BW can be set as an add on for most browsers!
I don’t use app anymore on my phone. I bookmark the sights I use like Reddit, my bank etc to the DDG mobile app and log into the bitwarden mobile app to punch in my info! It’s kind of a pain at first for the extra step but it keeps giving the faggets like cuck burg full access to your phone!
Bookmark this link. Spread like wild fire when you can. These tools will help remove some the 1984 filters these tech wankers have placed. You’ll also help stick it to these companies by not using thier services.
I utilize everything on this website list.
The only two additions I’d add are utilizing the driving app “here we go”
And utilizing the duck duck go mobile browser app. I hope these help! Seriously spread this crap when you can!
Just wondering, but is this something that just happened to you on our site? Also, are you on iOS?
The below a past quote from another of our staff members about this issue. I know it's not a great solution, but I do hope it helps explain some of what happens. The reality is we are only a dozen people running a company and website, while other much larger firms who can deal with it perfectly have entire ad-ops teams who see a larger budget than our entire company.
Hey, I'm sorry you're experiencing this.
To start, GamePress does not get to choose what advertisements are shown to a user at any time. The service we get our ads from is being infiltrated by malicious users. This is a problem for any site with major traffic, including Reddit itself.
The difference between sites like Vox and us is we don't have the resources to tackle the problem in a way that results in a 100% malicious ad-free GamePress. We have taken active measures to monitor our ads but it has unfortunately only improved the situation, not solved it.
What I can recommend for you is a different mobile browser such as DuckDuckGo. Also, simply receiving a malicious ad on our site doesn't put you at risk.
For the browser, I think you mean the mobile browser we released earlier this year. It definitely does not contain viruses or adware, and we make the code openly available for anyone to see here:
Not sure exactly what you're looking for but if you scroll down on https://duckduckgo.com/, you'll see a high-level overview what DDG does.
https://duckduckgo.com/app tells what the iOS/Android apps and Privacy Essentials do. If you want more detailed information, the apps and extension are open source (github) so you can review the code.
There's no mention of Bangs on the product landing page, https://duckduckgo.com/app. Adding Bangs as a core value proposition on the site would make an impact in terms of awareness and usage.
>Because browser plugins for search were stupid superfluous bullshit in 2010. Now they belong in a museum. Of stupid.
This isn't a search plugin. It's a privacy plugin. Duckduckgo search is built into most modern browsers from the get go (Firefox and Brave I know have it as a choice by default). The plugin supposedly helps with privacy, hence why I brought it up and asked why it's never discussed along with DDG's search.
I personally use the plugin and appreciate how it forces HTTPS and has a grade assigned to each site you visit based on their scripts and other things that collect your data. But was curious if anyone else has experience with it.

Edit: added links to the plugin
I tried to look up Obamas actions in 2009, on google, just now and all I got was shit about Trump for at least the first 3 pages. Trump wasn't included my keywords so wtf.
get Duck Duck go, my friend,
The Google bar is an Android app widget. If you hold your finger on the widget, your launcher might allow you to remove the widget and add other widgets. DuckDuckGo for Android comes with a search widget. Some other browsers, like Chrome and Firefox, come with search widgets.
On my Android tablet, I kept Samsung's default launcher. I installed DuckDuckGo and Firefox from Google Play Store. I removed Google's widget, and added the widgets from DuckDuckGo and Firefox.
Hi there. We do actually have a browser for mobile - the DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser, available here: https://duckduckgo.com/app
This lets you browser the web but with third-party trackers blocked in the background, and enforced secure connections to websites when possible.
N'oublions pas non plus que les deux plus grosses régies publicitaires sur le web sont, de loin, Google et Facebook.

Hi there. We currently offer a free browser extension and mobile browser, both of which contain a tracker blocker that blocks third-party tracking code in websites (as well as other privacy features): https://duckduckgo.com/app
The extension and app block ads if they contain tracking code, which the vast majority of ads do. We believe non-invasive, privacy-respecting ads that do not track are acceptable (this is how DuckDuckGo is supported) so we would not block those, but sadly very few ads like this exist at the moment.
When you use the DDG search engine, your searches are private and no personally identifiable information is saved, logged or shared\sold. Once you leave the DDG search results page (click on a link), you are left to the privacy practices (or lack thereof) of the web sites that you visit.
That's where the DDG browser extension can help because it blocks known trackers, provides a privacy grade and other features that you can read about here: https://duckduckgo.com/app
Why are you making this to be some Sherlock stuff? DDG hates Google, they bought creepysite.com domain, redirected it to google.com and used it as an example in their promo material - https://duckduckgo.com/app
Case closed. Let's move on.

(lifted from a previous comment of mine)
Set up blocks in your hosts file. Blocks 90% of ads and removes the issue at its root (i.e. HTTP requests). No extensions needed, basically zero CPU use. FF blocks 3rd party tracking now, I use DuckDuckGo extension (and search!) to be totally safe from tracking.
Here are some tips for new DuckDuckGo users:
I'm late to the conversation so this won't reach very many people, but the 9bvious answer is to just use something like https://duckduckgo.com.
They even have a nifty browser extension that blocks malicious trackers. I can't find the page on their site for it.
They also have a browser:
