I really like FerenOS. It is based on Ubuntu 21.10. It is very stable and has a Windows type of feel to it, even though it uses customized KDE Plasma desktop. The developer is very good and responsive in the Discord channel if you need help. There is also a Windows Transfer Tool, which I have not used, but might be useful for you.
This is why I may have been thinking about Feren OS...
From https://ferenos.weebly.com/changes-made-in-feren-os.html
Some Linux Mint applications make their appearance in Feren OS including Update Manager, Timeshift and Driver Manager
The default configuration of Plasma can also be changed your distro's maintainer. If you want a distro with Plasma preconfigured to be as familiar as possible, maybe you should check out FerenOs.
i tend to go more with a 'right distro for the specific machine' type mentality these days.
Almost every distro can work as a decent general purpose desktop these days.
I have mainly been using Pop_OS lately. I like its tiling extension, but have noticed i dont actually use the extension or tiling features much on my daily web surfing. :) I have gotten where i dont do a lot of 'real work' on the computers lately.
if i ever do a reinstall, i might try q4OS https://q4os.org/ or ferenOS https://ferenos.weebly.com/ Just to try something not as mainstream.
I have a PinebookPRO for my main 'laptop' - so I have been sort of testing out various distros on it - but since thats an arm based laptop - those may not be good tests for what would be better for my Desktop.
Have fun playing with Stuff.
