Just been playing with FluidUI for hi-fi mockups. It's pretty slick. I'd rather have desktop software though. Last time I tried Pencil is was outdated. Seems it's been updated but still not great. Development seems really slow. I'm now leaning toward Balsamiq but I'm unsure.
This site is awesome. Free version only lets you have "one app" but if you only have a screen or two you could always just keep them all under that "one app". Highly recommend it!
Good mobile app developers are expensive, and most likely won't want to go into 'partnership' unless there is a solid business plan or a clear idea of exactly what you want to do. If you are looking to create a mobile app, I would recommend:
Remember, most good mobile developers will probably hear "hey, this is an awesome idea for an app" many times a week, if not daily. You need to wow them with something thats different.
Hope that helps!
Hey I'm also a full time college student (currently on winter break so I have ~ 3 weeks to utilize). This was a really inspirational and motivational read for me as I also have a couple of iOS app ideas, that I've held onto for about half a year, and that I plan to develop.
My game plan has been this: 1.) I wireframe the app, using some sort of wireframe tool, such as Fluid UI 2.) Learn coding/programming from Udemy 3.) Actually start building the app
Right now, I'm alternating between wireframing and learning to code. Do you think this is a good way to go from 0 coding experience to your level? How much time elapsed from the moment you got the idea to releasing it on the app store? From the beginning of learning code to building a prototype?
If you're ever working with someone or if you want to mock something up for yourself, I just used https://www.fluidui.com to throw those images together. It was really nice to use and completely online (I'm on my chromebook, so I don't have dev tools handy).
Disclaimer: I am in no way associated with FluidUI except for the fact that I made an account with them today.
Check outFluid UI its safe. I’m thinking something along this but in a design extension in the middle between Xcode and TestFlight. A place that can design for XCode remotely in an interface conducive to touch yet capable of sending a quick demo via TestFlight. Either way in the end it can go directly to the App Store via Connect.
One way to reduct the cost of development is put a little more time in the design phase and go through as many iterations as possible so that you do not have to make more expensive changes to the design once the app is developed. You can do this quickly and easily with Fluid UI https://www.fluidui.com/
The best place is always to start with a sketch of the big picture. Dont worry about details, just get your ideas down on paper. Then as a non designer there are some simple and intuitive tools out there that allow you to put a mockup or even a high fidelity prototype together very quickly. If this is an app you are hoping to launch then the quicker you get it into the hands of potential users who can test and give you feedback the better. One tool that woudl be ideal is Fluid UI, have a go and see how you get on. https://www.fluidui.com/

I really recommend getting a mac and doing work on Sketch but there are some web based alternatives:

Or if just wireframes is enough, balsamiq: https://balsamiq.com/
Here's a quick mockup we put together in Fluid UI to show off the Android ICS library - we'd love to hear what you think https://www.fluidui.com/editor/live/preview/p_mcEkMTfZpIcMp5l0Ai58zEAIVM1BrdtC.1342619007844
