If you use pass and want a better experience that is fully compatible to your current setup, take a look at https://www.gopass.pw/
It is a go Implementation of pass with a few really nice UX features like options im pw generation, a REPL, and more.
You can just try it out without the need of conversion and it should just use your current settings by default.
>I like it because its core is command line and GUIs are an add-on
This is the kind of things I like too, and, long story short, partly why I am on GNU/Linux (the paradigm taken by many Linux-native programs).

Getting better and better.
>I also like that I can use it over ssh and in non-graphical environments: ssh <pass-host> pass show <name> | xclip
Exactly one of the features I am looking for, and I did not specify in my post!
>However, I prefer gopass when on Windows or when sharing with a team.
I am going to take a look.
I like it because its core is command line and GUIs are an add-on. I prefer that to the reverse; a GUI with a command line add-on. The former is more lightweight.
I also like that I can use it over ssh and in non-graphical environments: ssh <pass-host> pass show <name> | xclip
However, I prefer gopass when on Windows or when sharing with a team.
will match your pass, and raise you gopass. same idea, modern update. it retains a pass-compatible API so anything that works with pass will work with gopass, and it adds some nice features.
