According to this comment by the developer it was removed about a month ago due to violating one of Google's famously transparent play store policies. You can still download it from the github page or from the f-droid repository if you prefer.
I'm an evil user so I wouldn't use this approach but I agree phone keyboard use is a huge problem.
We have these powerful computers with a shamefully bad text entry system which turns them into media consumption terminals.
Are you aware of Hackers Keyboard on Android?

Thanks, that comes in handy. I'll add some new hotkeys in Obsidian settings now that we can press them quickly. I could simply swipe up to see all 12 function keys, tap one as needed and then swipe up again to hide those function keys. Swiping right shows a lot of the special symbols I often use. You or someone could probably write an Obsidian-related article showing productive things we can do with this keyboard. I just installed it some I'm learning.
The "Use Permanent Notification" doesn't seem to work for me after cutting it on. I expected to see something I could tap to activate the keyboard. An initial Google search found this discussion where someone didn't see that notification.

You didn't give an alternative to HK, you gave a general keyboard suggestion. It's hard to live without the Ctrl + A and Ctrl+Z/Y hotkeys (among others) once you become accustomed to them, and Ctrl, Alt, function (F1-F12) are essential for remote access (SSH for instance.
>and was fed up in few days because it also didnt have a dictionary.
You didn't read the Github page.
>To install, get Hacker's Keyboard from the Play Store, plus optional dictionary packs.
Bundling the dictionaries would balloon the app install size, dozens of times larger with all.
Keyboard
action, select C
and then Control
.
If you can still type yourself, then you can use Hacker's Keyboard and change keyboard automatically when app starts and change it back when you exit app. Check here.
> Hacker's Keyboard kind of active. It does come and go, not active like every day/week.
The last commit was 06/17/19.
The last release was 11/26/18.
That being said, it's still a great keyboard. There are a ton of issues opened though.
No, it doesn't have glide typing.
I actually use this keyboard since years (Galaxy Nexus days) and for me it is the most efficient keyboard I have ever used on Android (no more long pressing to select/paste/copy/... text, I especially like the compact 5-row layout, etc.) and I always come back to it. But it may not be for you, if you are one of the persons that like/prefer glide typing.
I don't know if it is abandoned. It has always received very few updates in the past and everything works, so there may just be no reason to update it. The source code is available, so of course one could always fork the keyboard (+ send pull requests) and improve upon it. ;)
For people with old devices it may be good to know that this keyboard uses very little RAM in the backgrund, especially compared to the alternatives (e. g. Gboard).
