I really wish people knew about the Lastpass authenticator (https://lastpass.com/auth/) it is everything that Google authenticator is but it backs up to your Lastpass account so it can't be lost, even if you lose your phone
No. Google's authenticator app is completely local. Google does not manage/backup any of your 2FA tokens. The settings shown are only for this particular Google account. All other 2FA codes on the app are unaffected.
If you want an authenticator app with some sort of central management / backup / migration, consider Authy, LastPass, Bitwarden etc.
Okay, so I'm not going to lie, this got set up way faster than I thought it would. Import seems to have gone flawlessly, the phone app works great, and I'm pleased to see both a form of Secure Notes as well as Form Fills here. Great work!
The last question I have is whether or not 1Password supports or is planning to support easy 2FA in the same way that LastPass Authenticator currently does: https://lastpass.com/auth/
I really like LastPass's feature where the phone app Authenticator will talk to the Browser extension and allow me to one-tap Allow on my phone to automatically fill the code on my browser. Is this something that is in the pipeline by any chance?
Thank you again!
If you're worried about phone problems, use Authy or LastPass Authenticator for a sync-across-devices, backupable 2FA store. You don't even need a phone and they run on desktop.
LastPass is a password manager and they also have a service called LastPass Authenticator. It’s similar to Authenticator but you can restrict what country to can log in at.
It’s pretty good. Do some research and make a decision on if you wanna try it. https://lastpass.com/auth/
