I use MemPad http://www.horstmuc.de/wmem.htm it looks like something from 1998 but it's just an easy to use lightweight notepad tool with nothing fancy on top. Portable as well, mine is just 1MB big and the biggest is the MemPad.lst file with ~400KB. It has search built in, you can lock pages and you can encrypt it. Thats it.
