Try having a look at MIDAS - it's web-based and so could be suited to the mobile/multi-location nature of your business.
It also allows you to send automated reminders to clients in advance of their appointments/bookings taking place, and you can also attach notes/reminders for staff to specific calendar dates which are then shown when that date is viewed (so could be used to show reminders for contacting brides, etc). It's also possible to attach documents/files to bookings, and add notes to customer records.
It also has a "Watches" feature which can trigger email notifications for users when certain activity happens, so if your contractors were added as a "Staffing" resource, whenever that resource was subsequently assigned to a booking, an email notification could be triggered to notify the relevant contractor according.
