Worse. This;

Data Disruption Warrants, which allow the AFP and the ACIC (or another person on the law enforcement officer’s behalf) the ability to “add, copy, delete or alter” files on a computer or device, so as to “frustrate the commission of crime”4 where a law enforcement officer “reasonably suspects” that one or more “relevant offences” are “being, are about to be, or are likely to be” committed.5
Network Activity Warrants, which “allow agencies to collect intelligence on serious criminal activity being conducted by criminal networks”6 by intercepting communications and using surveillance devices on computer networks. The AFP and the ACIC are permitted to do “any thing reasonably necessary to conceal”7 their access and modification to computers, allowing the warrant to be conducted covertly. This is available where there is a “reasonable suspicion” that monitoring the network activity of a “criminal network of individuals” is “relevant to the prevention, detection or frustration of one or more kinds of ‘relevant offences.’”8
Account Takeover Warrants, which provide agencies with the ability to take control of a person’s online account “through the modification of data” for the purposes of “gathering evidence to further a criminal investigation.”9 This is available where there is a “reasonable suspicion” that one or more “relevant offences” are “being, are about to be, or are likely to be” committed; an investigation is either imminent or in progress, and taking control of the “target accounts” is “necessary for enabling evidence to be obtained.”10

Hi there, the TutanotaTeam here. We noticed this discussion and wanted to jump in: In regards to data protection laws Germany and Switzerland aren't so much different. One difference, however, is that Switzerland has data retention laws for email, which Germany does not have. Anyhow, any company in these two countries must hand out data if requested to by a court. Nevertheless, as all data is encrypted in Tutanota, we can only hand out encrypted data. If you're interested in details, best check the transparency report: https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/transparency-report/
This site really isn't that new, but SongKick.com lets you put in the names of all the bands/artists you like, then sends you notifications when they announce a concert in your area. I'm shocked at how few people seem to be aware of it. As someone who digs lives music, it's the cat's ass.
Ha. Eek!
I just saw that Ed charges $400 bucks to join your Zoom call for ten minutes! Anyone that pays that, deserves to lose $400

>I’m tempted to make a FastMail Electron app just to demonstrate that Electron/HTML/CSS/JS doesn’t need to mean slow and heavy (it just normally does).
>Later: OK, so on Windows a trivial Electron “just load https://www.fastmail.com/login(and then log in)” app uses ~230MB of RAM.
This was a good article to read through. Pretty poor form this snuck through parliament. Read what specific powers they have. It is crazy
https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/australia-surveillance-bill/
"What makes this legislation even worse is that there is no judicial oversight. A data disruption or network activity warrant could be issued by a member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, a judge's warrant is not needed."
and police have power to:
Data disruption warrant: gives the police the ability to "disrupt data" by modifying, copying, adding, or deleting it.
Just like politicians trying to deny strong encryption to people while using it themselves all the time. (Not a good comparison, but just makes me as mad as this.)
There are so many reasons to use Signal for chat, Tor browser, and Tutanota for encrypted emails.
Yep, that would be great for newbies. Actually there are lots of posts about how to stop using Google out there: one example and another example.
But having it here would be awesome!
That is so stupid; as if people couldn't use it via Tor/vpn? And while they do, they should also consider getting a secure mail provider like Tutanota so THEY can block their conversation from the government's eyes.
A gag order is not possible in Germany, and the above posting is nonsense.
Please check our Warrant Canary, which is unchanged since we first published it years ago: https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/transparency-report
Just like your password, the revovery code can only be accessed by yourself. Our code is fully open source and you are very welcome to check this: https://github.com/tutao/tutanota
The recovery code was not only demanded by the community, it is also a basic necessity to most users who want to make sure that they never lose access to their encrypted mailbox. The new web client allows you to set up 2FA, which will only increase the number of people losing their password or their second factor. Hence, the recovery code is a must.
Yes, you are still good with Tutanota. We at Tutanota cooperate with the authorities when we get a valid German court order. You can read details on this in our Transparency Report: https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/transparency-report Therefore, an illegal seizure of our servers will not take place. On top of that, all data on our servers is end-to-end encrypted and can't be accessed - not even by our developers.
This action by the German police is already heavily criticized as being out of their legal limitations. We're sure an investigation on this will follow and there will be consequences.
Australia has no freedom of speech, no online privacy and no freedom of movement. It seems like gun control is working as intended there.
I believe Garfunkel's tour has an appearance in ~~NYC~~ NJ on the 3rd, and nothing on the 14th. Not saying this is proof, but it is technically possible.
Edit: Sourced for Garfunkel. Simon apparently has no shows until he headlines Jazz Fest in New Orleans from April 22nd to May 1st.
>I'm so bummed.
We do it every two weeks. Drop by the next one!
>My wife has attractive successful friends.
Feel free to forward this. It'd certainly be a better romance novel than "we met on [insert dating app]".
I can't imagine my wedding party will be boring and our matchmaker gets invite #1.
If anyone is looking to get a second dose (at 3 week interval), check out the Islamic Centre in Newport. They are happy to do 3 week intervals for Pfizer and have heaps of appointments today and this week. You can book here: https://calendly.com/aicbooking/dose2?month=2021-10&fbclid=IwAR0Yhc5HUwO6O6ZTfaMIC3IRyqIkYDtarM_WmMKYsRB9uT3RY-eehDJMwl0
But they also take walk-ins I think ☺️
And if your in the west, the Newport Islamic centre has them all week too!
By default, we do not log IPs. If we get a warrant from a German judge in a criminal investigation we log IPs for individual accounts. We explain details here for transparency: https://tutanota.com/faq/#anonymous-email
> https://asana.com[2] (task / todo list) A really great tool that is both simple and powerful at the same time. Most of my tasks are organized in here. I am also experimenting with trello and like it so far
I just went the other way. I used to use Trello and just started using Asana. Asana feels a little more organized for me. Trello worked pretty well as an online Kanban board, especially when working with a team. However, I like Asana more for solo work.
It is indeed an asinine thing to say.
Look at the other concerts planned at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya in the near future.
John Prine, The Avett Brothers, Jason Isbell, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Bad Company..... Do these artists scream "boujee high income fan base?" Fuck no.
I think the negative attention this is getting is ridiculous. I make around $33,000 (probably not even considered "middle class") a year and with just some slight planning and saving I'll be able to afford this.
++ more
I guess fuck me for having a DECENT job and wanting a vacation centered around my favorite band.
ITT: People who didn't know how great Bumbershoot used to be.
Not only was it not sold out....
The first one I attended in 1997 ticket prices were $7 a day. $7!!! My roommate still has his ticket stub and busts it out each year to reminisce when we hear what the current years prices are. $85-$99 for daily passes. Geez.
And don't let anyone in this thread convince you it is because today there are more top tier acts. The 1997 lineup had many huge names for the 90's.
At work we use google workspace. It is a paid service, but gives a lot more space + shared drives. Although I have to say that I work in manufacturing, not in game dev. We use it to share documents, project files like CAD models and stuff.
What a shithole Tutanota put themselves in for an extra 1.2 €... was it worth it being disemboweled in public like this? I swear I'm serously asking. do you know how angry someone would have to be just to take the time to write all of this on reddit? Someone who's already paying you, no less. Paying you to spend time commenting on the EARN IT act to a clientèle that obviously understands the importance of encryption or the achievement that is removing the term blacklist from your FAQ instead of clarifying who gets access to calendar invites or that you can remove any feature at any time regardless of your ToS. Notice how people aren't even answering each others' questions here as often? How much in support/marketing costs was having a passionate user base saving you?
tutanota. It's German based, with Germany probably having the best privacy laws of any country at this time. The mail client is very limited, but it works and I believe it's secure.
One of the nice things about tutanota is that you can send people outside of tutanota secure emails. They would just get a (password protected) link to the tutanota web front end where they can read and reply to your mail securely.
That's a valid concern, but it holds true to all online services and there is only one universal solution for this problem: Get a custom domain and use only your custom domain exclusively.
If you'd use ProtonMail with a custom domain and they would be gone tomorrow, just switch your DNS-Records to another Email provider and you will receive all your Emails there. Also makes it super easy to switch provider because you don't have to edit a thousand accounts and switch the Email address if you'd dislike ProtonMail in the future.
> what do you think about GMail and why would you NOT reccoment Gmail ?
Gmail is a great service but I personally don't consider the cost in privacy even close to worth it. Maybe ProtonMail is overkill for some people, both in price and in sacrifices, but I would rather recommend to go with something like https://mailbox.org if that's the case.
Who were the opening acts?
Edit: well according to this http://www.songkick.com/concerts/26899914-young-thug-at-ohm-nightclub
The lineup last night was fucking stacked, I don't know what you're talking about
The UN can't help here. We need to encrypt everything.
>Encryption should be enabled for everything by default, not a feature you turn on only if you're doing something you consider worth protecting.
Tutanota is a more and more compelling alternative to ProtonMail. Between their more transparent development, completely open-source clients and significantly lower cost, I am more and more tempted to make the switch.
I don't use them myself, but I've heard good things about FastMail. They don't data-mine your email, and you can set up aliases and/or a catch-all at no extra cost.
SongKick.com was built for this purpose. You enter your city and all the bands you are interested in, and it emails you when they announce a show in your city. Works well for me.
Thanks for pinging us /u/PaskanMarjat
I've just registered via Tor myself: I got the clock captcha and the 48-hour wait. Believe us when we say it is hard to offer an email service with anonymous sign-up, and keep spammers out at the same time. Despite that, we stand firm to never ask for phone numbers or any personally identifiable information when you sign up.
Unfortunately, spammers heavily abuse VPNs and Tor so there will always be temporary blocks on certain VPN servers or Tor circuits. There's nothing we can do about this as otherwise we'd open the gate for spammers. Nevertheless, we focus on private, secure and anonymous emails. This hasn't changed. Please check again, you will be able to register via Tor.

Hey! I got to chat with Bryan Cantrill, and we got to chat a lot about Rust, embedded systems, and our experiences at Ferrous Systems and Oxide Computer using embedded Rust in production.
Most of my episodes mention Rust, but this one really focused on it, so I wanted to share it here. I'm happy to answer any questions, and if anyone else is interested in chatting with me about Rust or anything else, my calendly is always open!
I saw Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, and then-unknown openers Pearl Jam once, in a 2000 capacity club: http://www.songkick.com/concerts/728063-red-hot-chili-peppers-at-concert-hall
The Smashing Pumpkins were barely known at the time, touring the Gish album, and Pearl Jam wasn't even listed on the tickets, Ten was two months old and the video for "Alive" playing sporadically on whatever the alternative video slots were called then. After Pearl Jam DESTROYED as the opening band, some of my friends were saying "Wow, the Smashed Pumpkins are really good!"
I've had a good experience with FastMail. It's been really reliable at a decent price.
In case you're considering self-hosting, be sure to read up on things like mail server reputation and deliverability. I'm not saying not to self-host, but you should know what you're getting yourself into.
I use: https://mailbox.org/en/ You can get an e-mail ending with @mailbox.org but I have bought a domain some where else which I am pointing at Mailbox. I really like the way the calendar, mail, text editor and tasks work. I use this mail for personal communications. I also have a free Outlook mail which I use for subscriptions and stuff like that.
I would checkout ClickUp’s free forever plan. The onboarding process was a breeze and the clean interface has three different views for managing projects with a smart search feature to help sift through tasks. This solution gives you the ability to create custom statuses and filter by those statuses which has been a lifesaver for me. Due to ClickUp’s many options to customize your workflow and make the tool your own, this would probably be my first choice.
I briefly used Trello in the past and found the use of boards, lists, and cards to be very helpful when organizing projects. Trello offers features like unlimited attachments, due date tracking, and comments to help give you perspective on projects. This is a great free solution if you’re just looking for a step up from email as it can feel cluttered with larger projects.
Not sure if anyone has posted, but the Newport Islamic Centre are doing Pfizer and AZ until the 17th of October I believe. You can book an appointment online (preferred), but the nurse said they're also doing walk ins. I managed to book an appointment for this afternoon at 11am this morning. Plenty of slots available for the next fortnight. I believe you can book in for your first or second dose.
Booking link here: https://calendly.com/aicbooking/dose2?month=2021-09
So LIB has their own pop-up tent for rapid tests. As of now there’s still a ton of slots available, unless this is what you were referring to when you got the cancellation.
Hey there, thanks so much for your support! Truly honored! Lots of thoughts on this.
First of all, most voters don’t pay attention to the candidates until the final weeks leading up to election day - so now’s the time where getting through to voters really matters, and we’re doing that. We came into the race late, and didn’t have millions of dollars behind us, so we won’t get the big flashy press or having the prime time TV ads. Instead, we’ve focused 100% of our efforts on talking to voters directly - some in-person, but the majority online, like this AMA. We’ve been DMing thousands of voters over twitter, linkedin, and instagram, which is much more efficient (in both time and money) than door knocking, and that direct personal connection really resonates with people.

Another part of our plan is working with the other progressive candidates, like Joycelyn Taylor. Yesterday, she and I announced our cross-endorsement of each other, and we’re interested in adding a third to our slate, so we can consolidate votes for a progressive outcome. And lastly, you may have seen the NY Times piece yesterday, where pollsters admitted to having no clue how to poll this race, and have no clue how Ranked-Choice Voting will play into the outcome.
I’m not naive, but I do think the polling has not been accurate, and we’re going to shock people by how much we punch above our weight.
Keep spreading the word if you can - bring a group to my open office hours! Sign up here: https://calendly.com/chang4mayor/together?month=2021-05
I think they're talking about it not being a Judge decreed warrant?
Here's an article from earlier in the thread.
>What makes this legislation even worse is that there is no judicial oversight. A data disruption or network activity warrant could be issued by a member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, a warrant from a judge of a superior court is not needed.
So while there are warrants, it doesn't need to be approved by a judge which looks to be the change OP referenced?
Either way, I'll be over here with /u/XenosMind for confirmation.
https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/australia-surveillance-bill/
This is absolutely insane. The govt can hack into social media or just takeover social media accounts in Australia now. All of this without even a warrant.
You are being watched if you have a online presence, have any type of banking, or have a phone. Things like this is not uncommon and honestly the least of your worries. You ought to be more worried about the US trying to ban encryption and increasing surveillance just like Australia did.
Learn how to reduce your online presence, avoid cloud products, secure your home-network, use 2FA, use password managers, and fight against social engineering.
>Australia: Unprecedented surveillance bill rushed through parliament in 24 hours. Australian police can now hack your device, collect or delete your data, take over your social media accounts - all without a judge's warrant.
https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/australia-surveillance-bill/
In /r/privacytoolIO, before the move, I saw Posteo & mailbox.org recommended all of the time actually. I don't know about "no love".
That being said, Tutunota and ProtonMail gets recommended more often because they have free accounts, making it easier for people to transition from another free account.
PSA Yasiin/Mos has a few shows scheduled but it's not a full tour. So if your in CA or Chicago definitely try and go. I'm pretty sure he still lives in Capetown and has had issues coming to the US in the past...so you might not get another chance
Edit there are more shows listed under new name Yasiin Bey. Minneapolis, Portland, SD and SF. IDK if this is just the way they're listing him or if he's actually not planning on doing any Mos material at those shows. Since for my ticket it lists them both on the ticket even though theyre the same person, IDK maybe he's planning on doing a set as Mos and then intermission and another set as Bey.
He also says that they are going to invest in flood protection (he claimed so years ago already) and that he plans to outlaw encryption.
I would look into ClickUp and/or Wrike. Both of these tools are great for organizing projects and improving productivity.
ClickUp offers some really awesome features like assignable comments, multiple assignees, and tons of customization. My team just started using this software and the onboarding process was pretty seamless. The interface is clean, intuitive, and allows you to view your tasks in three different ways making it easy for team members to get the information relevant to them. Their customized status feature has really improved our workflow and has allowed me to manage projects confidently throughout the life cycle.
Wrike is another great option to look into! This software is perfect for delegating tasks, tracking deadlines, and it makes communicating with your team effortless. They offer features such as Gantt charts, time tracking, and email integration. Wrike is quite robust and can take awhile to learn. Its important to dedicate some time upfront to learning the tool in order to maximize it's potential. We previously used this solution and really liked the features, however, it got a little too pricey as our team grew.
Depends on how big you team and budget are, but if you're looking for something more deadline-oriented (for prioritization), it's worth checking out Asana
Free... A shared calendar (gmail/outlook) and file-sharing system (gdocs/dropbox) are always helpful!
I have an ergobaby as well and I signed up to do a free video fit check with them. I believe it was over zoom (or FaceTime? It’s been awhile). They were so helpful and even gave me some tips for different carries that I hadn’t even thought about. Highly recommend! I couldn’t find anything on their website about it, but when I texted their help number (also a great feature, they let me send pics and gave me text feedback) they mentioned the video fit check. Here’s the link they sent me:
https://calendly.com/fit-checks/ergobaby?month=2021-07
I swear I don’t work for them, lol. I was just very grateful for their customer support.
You have to actually schedule it at the venue they sent an email about it…. It’s $40
Here is the link to schedule it
Covid Hartford testing appointment on site
not sure if this is terribly helpful, but I think schools, in general, should really highlight that there is indeed a school counselor readily available for guidance and assistance. so many people at my school simply don't even know ours exists, which is a shame since they're very sweet and helpful.
one thing I really like about my school's guidance counselors is that they have this link to calendly.com, which allows us to reserve 20-45 minute time slots to talk about anything over zoom or google meet. even if we're going in person, I think having this tool is useful if students need assistance outside of school hours, or even to arrange meetings during the school day in person.
Yes, it's in public beta: https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/update-fingerprint-pin-unlock
Please follow these steps to test
The new beta release is available via Google Play by opting into testing using this link. Alternatively, you can manually install the APK from GitHub.
We would like testers to pay attention to the exact steps they are taking when acivating pin/biometric unlock so that we can reproduce possible issues.
If you experience any issues, please also let us know the Android version and device model as well as types of authentication enabled for the phone at .
We ask testers to make sure they have credentials (password/recovery code) for their accounts written down in case something doesn't work as expected.
Better article, IMO:
>Australia: Unprecedented surveillance bill rushed through parliament in 24 hours.
>Australian police can now hack your device, collect or delete your data, take over your social media accounts - all without a judge's warrant.
I found this really interesting:
> this wording enables the police to investigate any offence which is punishable by imprisonment of at least three years, including terrorism, sharing child abuse material, violence, acts of piracy, bankruptcy and company violations, and tax evasion.
What the everloving fuck???

I am getting sick of hearing some version of "Oh, I am not a tech person haha" as an excuse not to learn something. I am not talking mechanical engineering, but every day web things. You use the computer (and most likely your phone) most of the damn day. Shut up and learn something. It is well within your ability. The days of "my grandma doesn't know how to use a computer" are over. Your grandma has been on the internet for 30 years.
As an example, markdown. For you "non-techies" out there it is the lingua franca of the development world. True it is primarily used by developers but ANYONE can learn Markdown in 30min - 2hrs (conservative). For christ's sake Excel is more complicated than Markdown.
This all started with my arch-nemesis Asana. It doesn't support markdown. A productivity tool that doesn't support markdown. Unbelievable.
I am not saying you should learn markdown if you don't have the need. It was just an example.
Thanks sticks. OP, happy to chat to get you pointed in the right direction. You can schedule a call with me at https://calendly.com/gunghogolf. Also have some articles at https://gunghogolf.com/articles which may help.
To be honest, a lot of it might have been timing. It's been a while, but I think the turnout was also hampered by being a during a really bad time.
Holy crap. I actually found a link that gives the date. Turns out it was a Monday, definitely a bad day to drive high turnout.
Edit: It's amazing what one can find. This looks like their setlist.
All you need is http://www.songkick.com
Sign up, add in artists you want to "track" and their gigs/concerts are added into your calendar. You can then buy tickets as soon as they go on sale AND from the cheapest source (it usually lists all the ticket vendors and their price). Excellent website that I have found to be invaluable!
I went down this path, and while it was ok I didn't think it handled weird resolutions well, and I wanted something kind of specific with Google Calendar that wasn't trivial to pull off. I ended up going with https://dakboard.com/ which has a nice web portal to manage it, and even has a raspbian image with the software preloaded.
Two privacy issues.
Firstly Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979. - https://www.fastmail.com/about/privacy.html
Secondly, because their servers are based in New York they don't have data sovereignty - the communications get caught up in PRISM.
That said this would apply to most email providers, at least they do not appear to be selling your data or mining it for analytics. It is a pure and simple email provider. The web interface is not free software but it can be run via POP3, IMAP etc.
Good service.
Thanks for your feedback. This is exactly what we plan to do. While we do want to add notes and drive in the future, we are focusing on completing email and calendar features right now. You can track this on our roadmap: https://tutanota.com/roadmap/
Songkick is the business, even though they did change the UI a while back to make it harder to see all gigs in a particular location.
The main gig venues are all pretty good at sending our regular emails about what's on sale soon. You can also sign up for emails from See Tickets, Ticketmaster, Stargreen and other ticket retailers.
Keep in mind that most gigs go on sale on Friday morning, often with a presale on the Wednesday. You're much less likely to miss stuff if you get in the habit of scanning the main ticketing sites at some point on a Thursday.
Finally, if there's a band you really can't miss when they come to town, make sure you're on their own mailing list.
songkick detroit is my preferred method, has all the big shows, tons of medium and small shows, definitely a few every day. Be advised some super tiny shows won't make it on there, but any band that obscure you probably know when they're coming. go see live music! http://www.songkick.com/metro_areas/18073-us-detroit edit:sp
Here's the eventbrite listing https://www.eventbrite.com/e/iggy-azalea-limelight-sat-aug-16th-tickets-12611566535
Songkick doesn't seem to think she was supposed to be here though http://www.songkick.com/artists/4774213-iggy-azalea
I drove to Huntsville from Auburn in 2003 to go to Big Spring Jam, mostly to see String Cheese Incident and moe. Here's the 2003 lineup. It was a great lineup. Some big name acts, some smaller acts and some cool local bands.
The most recent Big Spring Jam in 2011, and the lineup sucked so badly that I wouldn't even drive 15 minutes from Madison to see it. It failed because they booked shit acts, and the complete refusal of the BSJ management to acknowledge this still blows my mind.
BSJ is dead and gone, and should stay that way. The name has been sullied by mismanagement. But it would be pretty sweet if we built something new and awesome instead. This would be a great thing for Downtown Huntsville, Inc to work on.
The best secure email provider is, arguably, Tutanota. You can even sign up through Tor (albeit it may take 48 hours to make sure you are not a spammer) and they do not require an email or phone number for sign-up. Tutanota, unlike Protonmail, encrypts subject lines. Regarding free accounts, Tutanota offers 1 GB of storage and the ability to change email signatures; there is, however, limited search functions on such accounts, only allowing you to search emails up to one month prior. From a personal perspective, I have used both email providers discussed and I prefer Tutanota's commitment to open source and the user interface for both desktop and the mobile app.
Even though it does not seem like it based on previous responses in this thread, you are not alone in your concern about US investors. If you look through other threads regarding email providers or Protonmail specifically, you will hear those sentiments echoed. Furthermore, Protonmail's seeming unwillingness to work quickly on publishing all of their source code is a concern for many.
We came across your post, and just wanted to let you know that you can always ask for help in our sub: /r/tutanota/
Your account will be approved after the stated 48 hours, this is necessary to let people use Tutanota anonymously: https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/anonymous-email/
If there's anything else, please get in touch!
Here is their privacy policy. Mailbox.org certainly stores a lot more personal data and is a lot more law enforcement friendly than posteo, if that's a concern of yours. Mailbox.org and Protonmail are very clear on that they have your data and will fully cooperate with law enforcement, and that that's a good thing. Posteo is much or about individual rights to privacy and anonymity. It's ultimately a value judgement and different companies come to different conclusions.
This is incorrect; if google drive is correctly configured it can and does meet security and audit requirements of most large enterprises, and in fact is better suited for auditing than many other options that enterprises insist on using. This starts with marketing spiel, but I'm sure you can google for the workspaces docs you need to learn more.
Hello again Campus Community!
I am a reporter for The Front (formerly The Western Front). and I'm writing a story about Earthquake Preparedness on Campus. The question I'm trying to answer with this story is: when the Big One hits, or if there's an earthquake in general, what should students, staff, faculty, and visitors do to be safe? And another is: do students, staff, and faculty feel prepared in the event of a quake (no shame).
I think everyone has some advice or an opinion on this, and I'd love to hear it! If you're available between now and this Tuesday, please schedule a 10-15 minute interview with me at a time that works for you on my Calendly:

Hello Campus Community,
I am a reporter for The Front (formerly The Western Front). I am investigating this caterpillar infestation (pictured below, photo credit Ethan Henry) near the Wade King Recreation Center and possibly other groves of trees around campus.
I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this? if so, I would love to schedule a 10-15 minute interview to ask a few questions about it sometime before the end of the week. There is a potential link to climate change here, since warmer temperatures cause insect larvae, like caterpillars, to hatch before bird chicks do, resulting in situations of overpopulation like this one. If you've noticed larger-than-usual swarms of caterpillars elsewhere, I'd like to talk to you as well. This could be a widespread issue. Here is my Calendly with my availability: https://calendly.com/jacob-f-odonnell
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you all.

The Surveillance Legislation Amendment (Identify and Disrupt) Bill 2020 gives the AustralianFederal Police (AFP) and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) three new powers for dealing with online crime:
The two Australian law enforcement bodies AFP and ACIC will soon have the power to modify, add, copy, or delete your datashould you become a suspect in the investigation of a serious crime.

Linkin Park is still insanely popular. I don't really know how one quantifies this kind of thing exactly, but for example, they're the 18th most-tracked band on SongKick:
http://www.songkick.com/leaderboards/popular_artists
They sell out ridiculously huge shows all the time, and they have tremendous international appeal (not lost on Blizzard, I'm sure). They've put out five albums since "that album" that you're referring to, and they've basically all gone to #1 on the US charts, and most of them have been #1 all around the world.
tl;dr: Blizzard's not out of touch, they know their demographic. Taylor Swift isn't really an option here.
A$AP, Danny and Vince are doing a show in Morgantwon WV for WVU that had no Tyler branding on it. But I found these tickets on sale and am wondering if maybe they're starting going together now?
There are other reasons why Frewen will be useful to the LNP. He could have a long political career ahead of him.
>The Australian government has been moving towards a surveillance state for some years already. Now they are putting the nail in the coffin with an unprecedented surveillance bill that allows the police to hack your device, collect or delete your data, and take over your social media accounts; without sufficient safeguards to prevent abuse of these new powers.
>This month the Australian government has passed a sweeping surveillance bill, worse than any similar legislation in any other five eye country.
>Frewen commanded ADF personnel in the Middle East in 2017 and assumed a senior role at the Australian Signals Directorate in 2018.
>“My concern is that we are seeing normalisation of the military performing functions that are not military functions,”
https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/australia-surveillance-bill/
>I think the chart there https://tutanota.com/blog/images/chart-child-pornography-drug-offences-germany.jpg shows this political agenda clearly.
And they claim CP is a big problem. We "know" it's not and never was. That graph shows how incredibly disproportional this measure is from a fundamental rights standpoint - massive "cost" and insignificant benefit.
Do you delete inactive accounts / recycle email addresses?
A deleted email address (also if it is an alias) will not be recycled for security reasons. There must be no possibility that someone else is able to register your previously used email address, and then, by accident, receive a confidential email that was meant for you.
Free of charge accounts are deleted after an inactive period of six months. A regular login is necessary to prevent automatic deletion. We delete such accounts for security reasons and also to allow us offering free of charge Tutanota accounts at all. However, the email addresses of such deleted accounts may be taken over into another paid account and re-used as email aliases or additional user addresses if you still have the valid login credentials.
That address does not exist. Use [email protected] instead. It's the generic email address of Tutanota.
Tutanota does not use tutanota.com addresses for its own correspondence. It uses the tutao.de domain.
One has to marvel at the nation of whiners and beggars which the Internet has become.
Tutanota has a generous, full-fledged free plan. It has a dirt-cheap, paid entry-level plan, at 12 €/year.
It even allows you to buy one month for the huge price of 1,20 €. Or, two months for the outrageous price of 2,40 €. And so on.
But no. It's not enough. The more free stuff some people are offered, the more they feel entitled to whine.
The scope of inbox rules is very clearly explained here :
This comparison is not a fair representation, there used to be a discussion on this a couple of months ago: https://np.reddit.com/r/ctemplar/comments/cjr47h/q_about_comparison/
We do have a research project running that is funded by the European Union: https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/pqmail-post-quantum-cryptography/
The aim of the project is to develop and implement encryption algorithms that will remain secure should quantum computers become a reality one day. The entire code will be published as open source so that everyone can verify that the encryption does what it is supposed to do: Protect your private data, now and in the future.
Theory, looking at the headliners OutKast, Skrillex, and The Glitch Mob's tour dates, I noticed one artist that appeared on all of their tours, Kavinsky. either way, Daft Punk/Kavinsky+SebastiAn. this is gonna be huge. I'll do more research.
Here's a link of his tour dates: http://www.songkick.com/artists/580030-kavinsky/calendar
I don't like being a product.
I don't like the idea of my personal correspondence (and everything else I do online) being data-mined and having my online persona dissected by an algorithm which then slaps a few dozen arbitrary tags cooked up by the marketing (and their AI dev) department on this livestock that is 'online-me' and stores them away in a database somewhere to monetize. Forever.
Yes, I know I can "opt-out". I just don't trust them enough to think that it helps a lot. "Use another service" you say?
Well...
tldr, I value my privacy and so should you; something that used go without saying a mere 20 years ago...
EDIT1: fixed formatting, words
EDIT2: more formatting. I'll never use bullet lists again.
EDIT3543: I give up. Sorry for the longs.
I don't think I can give you a direct comparison as ultimately email and search are too very different beasts.
A big part of our privacy comes from our decision to not store your data, which can't be done the same way by email providers.
At the end of the day it's about finding a company you feel you can trust, reading the Privacy Policy and making a judgement call.
Personally, I do really like Fastmail they have a Privacy Policy that is clear and easy to understand: https://www.fastmail.com/about/privacy.html - they outline the influences of their jurisdiction, what happens to any data stored, and how it is handled if you delete your account.
(Note this is a personal endorsement not an official one.)
I have a similar setup, not sure what OP uses but I use Fastmail. I have it configured with my own domain and have any email sent to @mydomain.com just go into my normal inbox.
I've just switched to Mailbox.org and am very pleased so far.
Amazing pricing, supports IMAP/POP3 (unlike Tutanota), supports multiple domains, has shared calendars, and a bunch of other extras. I'm new to it but not a single complaint so far.
Slightly related, if anyone is looking for a desktop email client, I've also started using Mailspring-Libre which is equally as awesome so far.
I also recommend using Adveronix, it's a Toolbar Addon for Sheets, which lets you pull data from Google, Facebook and many providers, visually and pretty straightforward.

im not affiliated with them in any way, but its so usefull you'll thank me foreva.
I sometimes need to send texts out to hundreds of people as part of event coordination I work with. Used to take me forever and I'd make mistakes until a few months ago I started using a Google sheets extension that just instantly sends texts to everyone on my list with all of their individual information automatically included. Saves me hours per week honestly.
edit: this is the one. us & canada only it looks like fyi
In Surrey at King George and 80 - super easy to book for appointments for tomorrow.
I didn't care how far I had to go. I'd drive all the way to Chilliwack if I that was the closest place.
Bad but not as bad as Aus. This August they passed a bill that gives the government the right to take over your accounts and even modify past communications records. Companies who don't participate can be treated as criminal organizations with leaders landing in a cell.
https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/australia-surveillance-bill/
It's actually insane how little attention this has gotten in the big Reddit subs. Aus was already pretty draconian to begin with but this shit is mad.

I'm far from a lolbert for the record but authorities messing around with personal data with zero oversight is overstepping a shitload of boundaries. And unlike China, I doubt the MPs passing this are doing it with the best interests of Aussies in mind.
WTF is going on in Australia?
