If it's clearly stated on their site they don't offer refunds, it's not a scam. They offer service on a yearly basis, according to you, which means when you buy, you buy for a year. If you decide not to use all the service you paid for, isn't that your problem?
According to their Terms of Service:
"The Service is billed in advance on a quarterly or yearly basis depending on your subscription and is non-refundable."
We actively detect and take necessary action against accounts found in violation of terms of our service.
If you have spotted a case, please forward it to our support.
We encourage users to use end-to-end encryption to achieve maximum protection.
Though, all plain-text messages remains protected (in crypto-sense) on our server-side (as mentioned above). Also, our SysAdmin team is legally obliged to respect data privacy laws (see our Privacy Policy).
Regards,
Mailfence Team
We support max. email size of 50 MB.
As highlighted already in this thread, for large files, please use Send as Hyperlink option.
Email isn't supposed to be used as file sharing. The limit most email services put on attachments is 5MB, regardless of type of purchased plan.
Instead of sending the file through email, upload it to the documents section of Mailfence and just share the link instead.
WHy not consider Mailfence? Great value, fantastic belgian company who own their servers, located in Brussels, Belgium. Under Belgian privacy law (one of the best data privacy jurisductions in EU). Since my brother recommended me MF 4 yrs ago, I havnt stopped using it...also havent stopped recommending it to all my friends & family. Hope you soon find the best solution to your problem :)
I use Mailfence. Very secure and private.
You only get the full features from a paid account (because that's how they make their money, unlike Gmail and Hotmail which make money by selling your data), but you can get a basic account for free.
The spam filter is a little over-zealous though, and for some reason not everything that gets blocked shows up in the spam folder, so you'll sometimes have to whitelist sites you expect email from.
Dear,
Our support team is always available as mentioned on our homepage: contacts.
We try to respond to all support queries, in 12 hours at the latest (with some exceptions: holidays, extensive load, etc...).
Kind regards,
Mailfence support
> How to send an email later. That is, at a given day / time. > It appears from information in Mailfence that you can, I just can not see how it goes.
We do not support that function. However, I've forwarded your feedback to our development team.
> Can you remove this "- Sent with https://mailfence.com Secure and private email" when you are a paying customer.
This can be done in a paid subscription.
> Does anyone use Mailfence and Simplelogin together? Mailfence has 100 aliases included on my plan, but you only really can access around 30 of them to change the name, etc because there is no way to scroll down and access the others.
Could you please send us an email to our support, with the screenshot of the interface that you cannot scroll down?
If it is about only resolving mail.yourdomain.com to mailfence.com, using DNS CNAME record, then you can do that, but it will not work if your website uses SSL certificate (very likely to be the case under standard security practices). Please contact our support by email to get specific suggestions in this regard.
If you want a customized login page, to your brand/website, then please contact our support by email.
Since the steps have already been shared in this thread, I would rather point out different sources that you can always refer to:
Online help: After signing-in to your Mailfence account -> Click on the top-right corner drop-down -> Online help.
Authentication should work fine, except sometimes it is blocked in certain regions due to spamming issues.
Could you please:
Update your browser?
If the problem still persists, then contact our support team by email? (including your IPv4 address)
Hello,
We are always open to new registrations, though they are temporarily closed in certain regions due to spamming issues. Best would be to contact our support by email, and they will be able to assist you in registering an account.
The policy is not fixed. For now:
This is not true at all; the reason Mailfence doesn't work properly is because their implementation of the CalDav standard has been intentionally limited:
https://mailfence.com/en/doc/calendar.jsp#caldav
I use Kalendar with a Nextcloud server on a daily basis, and that is pure CalDav and CardDav. We (Akonadi apps) work perfectly fine with standard implementations of open protocols and go out of our way to support some proprietary ones too (Google, as you have pointed out, and Exchange, among others).
Hello,
Best would be to refer to this KB article.
For requesting immediate action, please send full headers + body of the concerned spam message to our support by email.
Dear,
Please check our privacy policy. We do not backdoor and would never backdoor our application. Any important change of policy will result in us communicating with our users and changing our Terms of Service

Please also check our Transparancy report and warrant canary with more information about official requests from government instances: https://blog.mailfence.com/transparency-report-and-warrant-canary/
Mailfence
Hello,
Did you check this KB article?
Best would be to contact our support, and they will be able to assist you on this.
I have tested it with Mailfence.com caldav/cardav and it never works. Thunderbird's add-on works fine. Before that, I used Fastmail, again, caldav/cardav never worked with Kmail/Kalendar/Akonadi.
The threat models , under Data Theft, seemed to imply that the user content is encrypted at rest: https://mailfence.com/en/threat-model.jsp
Isn't this the case? What is encrypted and what not?
It is still on our development roadmap. We cannot provide a concrete date at this stage.
Calendars are not stored encrypted. We confirm encryption at rest is one of our top priorities this year.
You can create recurring events (by defining periodicity) with reminders.
We support PWA, which can be seen as a light-weight app. It does work in Firefox.
When you enable TFA for web, you can then either close non-browser protocols, or enable service specific password for IMAP, POP, EAS and xDAV.
I leave that for Mailfence users to answer.
Feel free to drop us an email if you have more queries.
Apologies for the belated response. We do have protections against brute-force attacks. However, we continue to make Mailfence more secure, which sometime involves testing different approaches (live) to examine their effectiveness (under limited time & resources that we have). Some approaches are weaker than others (but are more usable), and your test might have fallen into a window when one of those weaker approach was in place. It's been a while now that we have settled with a reasonable approach. Feel free to contact us by email if you have more feedback.
>But what I can grasp from this is that only e-mail is barely zero-knowledge capable.
It currently isn't, but is working towards becoming one. The implementation of encryption-at-rest is a significant step in this matter.
>The HSTS, DNSSEC, DKIM, DMARC and SPF as well as the A+/A scores are just nonsense in this context.
Agreed, they are not exactly relevant in this context. But since you mentioned that you were comparing email providers, so I thought shedding some light on those additional little controls might reassure you and whoever is reading this post.
>I have also read that article you point at about ProtonMail, and a few variations of it. It's more a bad attempt of misguided conspiracy theories than anything else. I would say this video summarizes these claims pretty nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhdJzjC7Leo.
This is entirely subjective. You might choose to ignore them completely, some might want to believe them. Me personally I'd want to stay away from any company that is so much under constant scrutiny. I've come across tons of articles/posts/user reviews that made me look away.
>And even Mailfence, if doing crypto operations in a web-browser, carries the same challenges as and weaknesses as ProtonMail.
Agreed. Whether to trust Mailfence (or any provider) with their implementation of Javascripts is a call users must have to take on their own. Maybe once the front-end becomes open-source (which is currently underway), it'll clear things out a bit. Personally I use Mailfence with a third-party Android email client called FairEmail, serves my purpose.
Lastly, it's best if you reach out to the Support Team directly to get better clarity. I tried to answer your query to the best of my knowledge, but I'm just another user who's still exploring the service, so my knowledge is a bit limited.

It isn't, but shall become one, once the encryption-at-rest gets implemented.

Hello,
There are multiple reasons as to why you have not received an activation email yet. To fix this please email our support and we will take care of it.
All the best,
Mailfence team
We thank you for your support. We try to respond to all user queries.
TFA works with PWA. For local email clients, you can generate service specific password. Feel free to contact our support in case if your are facing issues.
Hello,
By merging, if you are referring to combining data of two accounts into one, then I'm afraid, that is not possible (except if you export data from one account, and import that data into a second account). Best would be to contact our support, and they will reply you with possible options.
Feel free to reach our support by email, we would be happy to offer you a trial plan.
For import of large number of emails, we would suggest using an IMAP client.
See also: Import data to Mailfence account.
Hello,
Best would be to send an email to our support, and request a trial plan to check by yourself.
In case of blockage, depending on the concerned service provider, we do try to address it (either by contacting the blocking service directly or by asking the affected user to raise it with concerned support team and involve us in the process if needed).
Hello,
We thank you for your feedback and support :)
Best would be to send us an email to our support, mentioning your Mailfence account username, and the domain name that you are referring to.
Please report this to our support, and make sure to include full message headers + body of the offending/spam message.
I presume that you mean this website?
I used your password, and I again had no problem, both with the login section and the registration section.
I normally use Chrome, so I tested Mailfence in both Chrome and Firefox. They both worked. And, it works in gedit.
This makes me think that the problem lies somewhere inside your libraries. You haven't answered my question about how you installed the package. Read that bit through again, because this seems to be the most likely candidate for your problems.
You mentioned slowing down the typing. My settings in KeePassXC are Auto-Type start delay 500ms, and Auto-Type typing delay 25ms.
that is such a good news, it shows us how people have developed the awareness and care about their data privacy when interacting online... I have been using Mailfence for over 4 years now, couldn't be happier.
I use Mailfence as a personal email, but also have implemented it as my default business email, it has been 4 years now. Can't explain how much of a peace of mind I have... under belgian jurisdiction, very safe. absolutely recommended.
I personally suggest Mailfence, Great value for money & an amazing customer experience. Been recommending this fantastic Belgian company to all of my friends and family for a about 4 yrs now.
I have 2 email accounts, one for personal use (family, friends, personal expenses, kids' school matters, etc.) and one for my business. Both are from Mailfence. Been using it for 4 years already, absolutely no issues at all. I have a peace of mind while using secured email service, & I think that is smth priceless. Cheers!
If you are looking, for private,se cure,no ads, no data gathering bullshit i recommend Mailfence groups. It has all the features you would expect from a complete email suite. You can check em out over here. What's more, they recently launched the beta of thei mobile app so all the better try em out. I have been using them for quite a while and the service keeps getting better mate.
Could you please check if any of your browser plugin is interfering with the connection?
Did you try using a different browser?
In case if the issue persists, then send us an email to our support.
As mentioned in our FAQ: https://mailfence.com/en/faq.jsp
"We do not keep accounts indefinitely: your data will disappear if you stop using your account. Free accounts are suspended after 12 months of inactivity and totally deleted 4 months later. Paid accounts are not deleted as long as payments are received".
Problem i see with the mailfence service is that creating calendar events with invitees outside of the mailfence organization seems limited, but I cannot pin point in what way since I haven't used mailfence. They explain it in their documentation, which seems limiting...
How do you guys feel about their Privacy Policy?
It seems a bit more vague about what all that data they collect is used for.
Also, it looks like they're not on the Privacy tools recommended providers list.
Hello,
It seems like you have set-up a filter rule (for incoming emails) with an action of 'move' to trash folder.
Could you please try disabling that, and check again?
Your support query has been answered already.
>Ability to send encrypted email to people who don't use PGP (similar to Protonmail).
>
>I was thinking of Mailfence.
To the best of my knowledge, Mailfence does not allow this. See their FAQ:
>Q. Can I send encrypted messages to people who are not Mailfence users ?
A. Yes. They can read and reply to your encrypted messages, after decrypting them using their OpenPGP private key. You can also send digitally signed emails to anyone.
So, provided they use PGP. Can someone confirm this ?
Tutanota does allow you to send encrypted email to people not using PGP (indeed, it's one of their stronger points), but they do this by dispensing with PGP altogether.
Hello,
As mentioned in our FAQ:
> Free accounts are suspended after 12 months of inactivity and totally deleted 4 months later. Paid accounts are not deleted as long as payments are received.
Hope that explains.
Dear,
1 - That is correct. For more information, please refer yourself to following blogposts: * https://blog.mailfence.com/end-to-end-encryption-and-digital-signatures/ * https://blog.mailfence.com/symmetric-encryption/
2 - We have other measures, to protect plain-text data.
3 - While using IMAP/POP3/ActiveSync connections, all end-to-end encrypted messages remains encrypted. The respective email clients receives them in as-is fashion (i.e., cipher text). This is due to the end-to-end encryption protocol that we follow - which is often not supported by major email clients out-of-the-box. This means, the user has to make sure that their email client can read/write/understand OpenPGP by using appropriate tools.
4 - Yes, the 'light' version does not include all features - but a mobile app is under development.
Concerning your last comment, we would refer you to check this page.
Kind regards,
Mailfence Team
Dear,
Our servers are locally hosted in Belgium, and no user data is stored elsewhere.
For more details, please check this page.
Kind regards,
Mailfence support
If you want to run 'sharing' locally or on your own personal server, I would recommend open source SyncThing. However, if you just want contacts and calendar, with a good non-NSA email server setup, I purchased a year of MailFence.. Price is decent compared to comparable email server solutions. I point my Domain name to it, boom, works perfectly.
On my Android devices I use DAVv(5) from F-Droid to sync the contacts/Calendars servers. I use my Huawei's Contacts app which supports CalDav out of the box. There are other 'contact' app solutions with CalDav on F-Droid. For a calendar I use Simple Calendar (CalDav support) from F-droid, awesome app. No more Google data-mining my crap.

Would you please update your statement at https://mailfence.com/en/private-email.jsp ? Because it's not accurate. It doesn't say "no third-party access except as stated on the blog." I had not found that item buried in the blog post.
Dear,
It is not clear on what do you exactly mean by 'timeline'?
However, concerning OpenPGP encryption - please refer yourself to this guide.
We also plan to support attachments in password encryption feature, in the months to come.
In case if anything is unclear, please feel free to drop us an email at support[at]mailfence[dot]com

Nothing you say or do will make a difference. You will only end up endangering you job.

Not worth it.......... but if it means that much to you- send an anonymous email with links to your favorite MGTOW videos to them. Go make an anonymous free email account at mailfence.com or something similar. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING PAPER ON THEIR DESK. Anonymous email only.
Thank you, dear team for commenting here. With the quoted phrase, I have said my personal opinion.
Let me clarify.. Anyone log in this https://mailfence.com/?reset Password url is asked for resetting password and anyone who knows my email also knows my username; so, they can request for a password reset which shows my parent email address where password reset link has been sent. So, if anyone somehow gets access to my alternative email also gets access to my Mailfence account; which seems absolutely easy.
So, if my alternative email is less secure which is not uncommon, my private email could also be vulnerable. Hope this makes sense. Any solution will definitely be appreciated.
Thanks again.
Mailfence is another good option to look at, which is a complete email suite (mails, documents, calendar, contacts, groups, ...).
However, they do have the same mail storage limit in free plans.
Dear,
Kind regards,
Mailfence support
Merci. En regardant les prix je pense prendre l'offre à 2.50 € par mois de MailFence : https://mailfence.com
C'est simple à faire de faire pointer le nom de domaine acheté chez OVH vers ton serveur fastmail?
> And where exactly do they admit that they have access to any pgp keys might I ask? I'm yet to see any information relating to that.
https://mailfence.com/en/private-email.jsp
> We do store your private key on our servers but we can't read it, since it is encrypted with your passphrase (via AES-256).
They store your private key u muppet, that's one of the pieces of data keeping you safe and uve uploaded it to a clearnet mail service..... lol
mailfence stores deleted enmail data for 45 days so deleting everything daily isnt really gonna helkp that much
u dont think belgian LE is going to cooperate with UK/US LE when they get a request for data on u? Iranian LE cooperated with the BMR server takedown, somehow i think they'd be harder to convince than the belgians
whatevs man, just carry on doing that stupid shit idgaf
Under the light of /u/enqueued comment, how this is different from other private and secure email solutions that support bitcoins (Mailfence, Protonmail, ...)?
Dear /u/Azphreal,
Concerning Mailfence, can you please give more details on which import limit you are referring to? (messages, contacts, calendars, docs, ..?)
You can also send us an email at support[at]mailfence[dot]com.
http://www.safe-mail.net/ - UI is crap but service good https://mailfence.com/ - so far so good https://app.tutanota.com - my old faithful
Always via VPN.
Steer clear of some of the 'privacy' apps like Wickr at all costs.
Its true to some extent - and I especially urge this for email service. For e.g., Mailfence.
