It is. The privacy was the whole draw for me and now they’re no better than any other mail service. I was looking to switch to their VPN when my service expired but I definitely don’t trust their no logs policy. “We at ProtonVPN value our customers’ privacy and keep zero logs… until we are court ordered to provide them.”
This guy has a book that expands on it more.
You Have the Right to Remain Innocent
You can't say "I think I need a lawyer," or "I don't talk to cops without a lawyer." Tell them to get you an attorney, in no uncertain terms. Do not deny the charges, or claim ignorance of any crime. Research your rights thoroughly.
There is truth to that unfortunately. Judging from the current events taking place around the world it's safe to say Governments are abolishing privacy. We do have the right to privacy however most people don't understand laws and how they work. So when they get "caught" ( I use that word lightly ) they don't know their rights or how to defend themselves. I just hope the owner of the Dark Market had a team of lawyers assembled and ready to go for if this day came. And boy did it.
It is important to follow privacy activists on social media to learn about the laws, how they affect you and how to defend yourself. It also keeps you up to date with changing laws. You may even come across a digital privacy lawyer that you may want to save their contact deets into your phone for down the road. Yes, Privacy Lawyers are a thing.
In todays age having a good lawyer on your side is like having an assassin on your side.
There are organizations our there fighting tooth and nail for the privacy of their citizens. (EFF) Electronic Frontier Foundation is a famous one. eff.org Riseup.net is another good site to check out if you value your privacy. It's these organization s that make a difference in the world when it comes to privacy and they need our support to make it happen.
Well, I use NordVPN, because it has a zero log policy and is out of the fourteen eyes jurisdiction (it is based in Panama with no mandatory data retention laws). It is also pretty fast and you can even route TOR or another VPN connection for extra security with a sacrifice for speed. Paying with cryptocurrency is a plus too. Don't really know about Cyberghost, but I've heard that Mullvad and PIA are nice too (even if they are in the fourteen eyes). Read something like this and decide for yourself.
Guarda doesn't charge any fees itself. The instant exchange function within the wallet is provided by ChangeNOW.io, of which their commission per exchange is 0.5% (or less) depending on the pair. Works well without issues & ChangeNOW themselves have an active Support Portal/Team

I understand Bitcoin being easily traceable by now but what is the role of NordVPN in it?
I couldn't find news linking NordVPN and the Darkmarket seizure.
I'm just curious what you meant with "And he used NordVPN", or was this just ironic?
We have a term for this in the UK, bollocks. It sounds like a scam.
If the email and password was correct he probably found it on a pwned site list. Check here https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see if you are on that.
>A week later curiosity got the better of him so he downloaded them through NordVPN,
Wait wat? He's using Tor through a VPN? Thats not correct, just use Tor. It's not designed to be used with anything. Use tails thats it.
Short answer: No. If the VPN is free, you are the product.

Better answer: TAILS is free because it uses the TOR network. Download it, burn it on a cd or usb, live boot your system when you want to be anonymous. It does everything for you, and erases all evidence when you reboot. It is the best way to browse the darknet because it also takes care of all your unique computer identifiers. Tons of YouTube instructional videos on how to set this up, it's quite easy.

But seriously, there are vpn's that are super cheap these days and have a good reputation. And if you aren't concerned with security against government entities, ProtonVPN is free and good enough for just general browsing. I wouldn't trust it beyond that of course.
Basic stuff you may find helpful
1 always use vpn (recommend NordVPN) 2 turn off scripts on the top right corner of TOR 3 always use 2FA log in markets 4 learn to use PGP encryption to communicate with vendors (especially with your delivery addresses) 5 pay with Monero XMR whenever possible 6 if BTC, do not send BTC directly from an exchange and advise to use a bitcoin tumbler 7 start off with smaller orders until you find a reliable source
Good luck.
Some things I have learned since starting from DEC 17 1 buy a VIP72 account for socks 5 proxy 2 SSN,DOB and Driver license number is must 3 always check before buy the CC or bank account 4 Bank drop is necessary 5 Sometimes you need a Selfie with government ID when you are successful post some results
First and foremost, download the Tor Browser Bundle . From here on out ALL of your research should be carried out on TBB, make a new reddit account using Tor and do not use that account on the clearnet ( I.E., Firefox, Chrome)
Then go to
/r/darknetmarketsnoobs
Read the sidebar, all of the links in the side bar and lurk around for a week or two. Familiarize yourself with the common questions asked by users (the same ones get posted week after week) and the answers/solutions to them.
Once you know what programs to use, how to use pgp, how to buy bitcoin, how to keep your anonymity and how to not get busted, then you can think about ordering some acid.
Definitely don’t go with a free vpn. If you’re not paying for the product, then you are the product. That means they are selling the very data you’re trying to keep private.
If you must go free, look at ProtonVPN. Supposedly their free service is subsidized by the pay service and is equally private.
Dont tumble your coin use morphtoken to change them to monero. Get a monero wallet that supports xmr.to and clean them that way. Use this wallet. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.m2049r.xmrwallet it has xmr.to built in it. You can send it like a monero transaction. Totally private.
I only tried NordVPN, so basically I cannot say that it is the best, I can't compare it to others. But I never had the need to switch from NordVPN, so I think it's a good VPN and is worth a try. They also have a free trial so if you do not like it you can go with another provider
The answer is yes to your actual question. Since unlike other replies you were asking about using a proxy and VPN having purchased TG. Not if you need to be using Tor and Tails blah blah.
If you bought Torguard. Install the software (or use their openvpn files). Connect to the VPN through the software, and just configure the proxy in the other apps (web browser, torrent client, etc). Socks5 for torrent client typically and use the web proxies they provide in your browsers.
Such as: Laptop / PC connects to VPN appliation > Open your web browser you configured with the web practice would typically be to use different service. But in short, yes with Torguard proxy and vpn package you can easily do this.
> Yes XMR can’t be traced as of right now.
Agreed. Although you might want to buy ETH or LTC (lower fees and faster transfers/confirmation) instead of BTC.
Once you bought your ETH or LTC, exchange for Monero using Flyp.me (no sign up required) or an alternative.

Alternatively you can:
directly buy XMR from USD or EUR from Kraken
directly buy XMR from USD from Bitfinex
According to their description of the protocol there is no forward or reverse security. If a key is discreetly copied, all messages can be read. Signal uses a different key for every message
There have also been no updates to the Android client since April 2019 so it seems like a dead project.
Hmm hopefully the block chain is just lagging or slow at the moment. I think you can check the actual block chain to make sure it's going through. Sorry I cant walk you through that I'm not sure how to either.
For future purchases, I recommend downloading an Electrum wallet ( https://electrum.org/#home )
I buy my coin, then send it to my electrum wallet , Then send it to the vendor from electrum.
I've always heard bad bad things about marketplace wallets.
Worst case, you got phished and someone got your coin. Double check to onion url to make sure your at the official market.
Beyond that I have no more suggestions :/ hope you get it figured out.
Edit: also as a commenter above mentioned, use the higher fees as they are just 10-20 more cents usually and go through much quicker
The rationale --that the darknet market is safer than in-person transactions-- parallels the movement for sex workers' rights in Canada. That demand for the service/product is unavoidable, so society should not force participants into dark corners where they're more vulnerable. Without a (successful) social movement, like what sex workers have, darknet participants are going to get the "real criminals*" treatment from police.
I think it's better to appeal to society's respect for individual liberty / safety than identify a group of "bad guys" that makes the darknet look good in comparison. I'm a crim defence lawyer though, so maybe I'm biased.
Who wrote this letter? The GNU Project recommends the following license for this kind of work. The author should mention and link to it.

I went to changelly.com. I tried setting up my account on kraken but its still verifying my documents, so since I already had an account at changelly I figured they would let me exchange btc for xmr no problem. Looks like they will let me straight up buy xmr with my debit card as well.
It might be different for me because I have made a few transactions on there, so a new account might need to be verified before purchasing with fiat, but I would expect if you exchange btc for xmr then the requirements might be more relaxed.
Just exchange the coins BTC > XMR > BTC
DO NOT use mixers and tumblers - 99% of them are scams; the 1% have shuttered.
Been using changelly.com
A little costly but its got a credible community of users. Feel free to look up its social media presence on Twitter and the likes.
Just convert BTC to XMR and then to BTC again before using it. No need for tumblers anymore, many tumblers and mixers have either shuttered or are scams.
I've been using changelly.comto good effect.

Works for me..
I am at work but check the vpn tunneling section of whonix site. It had warnings and use cases. The thing is pam we have had this talk before https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Tunnels/Connecting_to_Tor_before_a_VPN
https://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/

Use that to make the USB drive bootable, partition it so you can run 3 OS's.
Lol, a VPN won't protect you either. If there's a court order, they can go through your ISP and request connection or usage logs. Since your ISP would know you're using a VPN, they'll turn your ass over to the police in a heartbeat for some horrendous shit like that. Hope OP and his "HS friend" are planning on moving to Belize or Mexico! https://surfshark.com/blog/can-police-track-vpn
So I assume You use windows right. ? Why not try tails, there you have all you need and add to Your safety ? Nevertheless. Check on the guide if you really Did all the way it’s supposed

Pam doesn’t post at all anymore. The reason? He pointed out one of the GP scammer’s many alts and was banned for ‘no user reviews’. He and the rest of ‘the good ones’ have migrated elsewhere which is why, as you correctly identify, this sub is little more than noobs, shills and scammers these days.
I myself was also permanently banned without warning for calling GP a mildly rude name (“moron”, to be precise) in frustration at his incessant spreading of FUD and misinformation which the mods seemed to have no interest in, well, moderating.
Speaking of which, that coolvideo person you’re getting on so well with? He’s the GP guy.
Dont worry, I’ll save you the trouble of banning me again. Thanks to the laughably incompetent moderation of this sub, there’s no reason to want to be here anyway.
Interesting, the ProtonMail warrant canary was fired off way back in May 29th, 2020 but apparently everyone ignored it. This has been going on for awhile.

LOL NordVPN. Don't believe their stupid commercials, they log your data and don't tell you they do that. Why pay someone to log your web traffic? Data like that is often sold to the highest bidder.
Tails is not recommended to be used with a vpn, but for other things, I like PIA (Private Internet Access). One of the biggest issues with VPNs is logging, and PIA has been proven to not keep logs at least twice in court.
NordVPN didn’t even have commercials that I know of when I started using 3-4 years ago.
Sure it’s all fine and dandy to be skeptical, but what do you base that claim on, find me a legal precedent like when IPVanish has been shown to provide data to LE
You literally pay your ISP to log your data too. They know you’re on tor, people can spy on your tor usage if they wanted to you’re only safe from passive observers on tor.
Of course take this with a grain of salt, but an accounting firm confirmed NordVPN doesn’t log
Wipe hard drive install arch Linux (warning you have to be technologically literate to do this, arch Linux is hands down the best Linux distro )
Set up a system wide vpn using a paid vpn not based in the a country like the US, ie try NordVPN
Install vbox
Download whonix
Bam ISP can’t tell you use tor, increased deniability
Basically yeah. When there's stuff going on with the markets I like to steer very clear. Normally I don't use tails but in the midst of this type of shit I've been on Tails, Tor with NordVPN too, and using PGP for everything.
I advise all to do the same. Beware of honeytraps and scams
I'm not sure which are free and which arent. There are a few VPNs that have pretty strict no-log policies, and I guess only time will tell if that's actually true. Even though some don't keep logs, they tend to keep purchase data (Torguard does), so technically their could still be some sort of connection made between the user and the service. has a good break down of the no-log VPNs. Me, personally, I keep my VPN away from my Tor. I believe there's a time and a place for each service, so I only use which one makes the most sense for my application.
> Going into a public place isn’t the smartest especially if your looking for doing it anonymously.
Let's say Starbucks gets 100 different people a day. This is a modest number. Security cams can not do much because of the hat.
You go twice a month. This means if they wanted to track you, that:
a) They actually need to log internet traffic.
b) They would need to break Tor, which is possible, but an expensive attack. It is not very effective.
c) They would need to investigate 3,000 people.
While this is overkill for OP's threat model, some people must do this.
I would love to hear why a VPN, especially IPVanish and Nord, + hacking your neighbors wifi would be a better idea.
Go smart, go private. Putting trust into any sort of VPN provider is sketchy as fuck, especially if you're doing anything that you don't want big brother to know about. There are some that I'd say are pretty trustworthy (I think nordVPN and ProtonVPN are probably both decent) but to be 100% just host your own. I spend like $5 a month to buy an offshore server in the Netherlands (using BTC obviously) and it runs OpenVPN with sha-512 hash and AES-256 bit encryption. 100% secure, 100% no logs, 100% private. (Also there is a noticeable speed and quality difference of running private.) Obviously if you want to be switching servers every minute this isn't going to be the best option as there's no way for IP change, but it's definitely the safest method.
Awesome thanks for the reply but that doesn’t answer my question. As far as IPVanish, sure Il use it but I’m trying to access the dark market and I simply would like to know if there is any risks running a mobile hotspot and connect on tails os and running tor without any more risk than it would connecting to a WiFi and doing it the normal way
I am a VERY paranoid individual. As much as I love the use of substances, I am not addicted and do not value any substance over the risk of 15 years in jail. I would rather not buy anything than risk my life. So yes, I will be following through every step as before mentioned, every time I purchase a good online.
Also I do not actually plan on using a VPN. After all the research I have done, reliable sources (including tails developers and well known darknet vendors) have said that a VPN will either make no difference at all or in some cases be worse than not using one. Firstly, I have no use of hiding my use of TOR from my ISP due to the fact that any timing attacks would be useless against me if my only purpose on there is to purchase substances.
Secondly, for the purpose of using a VPN through TOR to encrypt any data from the exit node, I would only ever be able to trust a VPN with this over a bad exit node if I could be assured that the VPN kept no logs. However as seen in the past with "HideMyAss", even the most trusted and most used VPN's which promised to not keep logs, did so and under court order had to give them up to the NSA. The developers of tails also say this:
"Some users have requested support for VPNs in Tails to "improve" Tor's anonymity. You know, more hops must be better, right?. That's just incorrect -- if anything VPNs make the situation worse since they basically introduce either a permanent entry guard (if the VPN is set up before Tor) or a permanent exit node (if the VPN is accessed through Tor)."
Thanks for spending the time to answer my post though. And what are your thoughts on using a VPN? Would you still advise I use one for my exit node? As I said, I have no use in hiding the fact I use TOR from my ISP.
Start off with purchasing a good VPN, I use Private Internet Access because it's cheap and (supposedly) there are no logs and multiple server locations. Download and install Tor to a flash drive and optionally a secure password manager. Always leave your VPN connected while browsing the darknet. As for darknet websites, provides a decent list.
But keep in mind 90% of the darknet is illegal to use (blackmarkets, etc), so be very careful and I do not recommend it.
Honestly if you're just looking around in the DW you don't even need a VPN, it's not illegal unless you're buying something from it, plus using that many VPNs is absolutely dumb. If for whatever reason you need a VPN just use Mullvad
Can you explain why? Copying my comment from earlier….
I keep hearing this but haven’t gotten a solid explanation as to how VPNs compromise anonymity.
The only explanation I’ve seen is that VPNs actually do log IP info and can be subpoenaed, but the same is true for your ISP, so it’s one more layer of subpoenas that LE would have to go through, no? And even so, that is at best a reason why VPNs don’t help, but doesn’t explain how they compromise anonymity.
Plus I’d trust Mullvad not to cooperate easily with LE far more than Comcast or Verizon.

No, they're referring to the wallet that actually holds your Monero off-site. I can confirm (as their app description states) that Cake wallet is updated and good to go (as long as you update it if you use it) but without knowing what wallet you use then I can't tell you whether you'll need to update or if there's even an update available.
Make sure you check your wallet for available updates and update it if you can, as any XMR sent will likely be lost if your wallet is not updated to support the most recent version of Monero (v 0.18).
Mullvad or iVPN are a thousand times more trustworthy than Nord or express, but they are not immune to the law.
Best to do your tor browsing over public wifi, or maybe from afar with a wifi external antenna
Thanks for the gag order point, it is a good one. IVPN and Mullvad are both EU-based (Gibraltar and Sweden) so sounds like this is a real (if worst case) scenario to consider.
IVPN states no logging of customer IP address - - and published audits corroberate this:
“…the main focus of the audit placed [are] the following items: • Claim 1: IVPN performs no logging of traffic, IP addresses or DNS requests. • Claim 2: IVPN does not carry out any statistical logging of customer-traffic.”
“…Cure53 was able to conclude this audit with a verification of the main two claims.”
Talk is cheap but published audit results are encouraging, I suppose. TBH, I have no idea if pressure really came to bear on IVPN whether or not this would hold up…
What if, for example, a person were to anonymously (using cash or XMR) pay for an audited, no log VPN like Mullvad or IVPN? This would appear to alleviate the subpoena issue, no? Honest question, not sure of the answer)
To be clear, I am not advocating VPN->Tor but am curious about this specific issue.
Reading this book has helped a lot if people in the same situation https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rational-Recovery-Cure-Substance-Addiction/dp/0671528580/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?adgrpid=54934703202&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxb2XBhDBARIsAOjDZ37bFkFCcoV4UF_Ipg69fCoboIyfs4eM_Xswg8mT6lRfF9Tj894c2MAaAuiAEALw_wcB&hvadid=259101647224&...
i recommend you BrightVPN and LG smart TV
Don't use one for the darknet.
If you just want one for clearnet, ProtonVPN is good enough for most people and it's fast and free. Unless you need it for torrents, in that case you'll need the paid version.
If you pay in Monero, you can use Tor --> Mullvad --> X.
If you ever connect to Mullvad through the cleatnet you're deanonymized, and there aren't many cases for this would be more useful than just Tor, but it's very much possible.
Try Atomic wallet which doesn't ask for any KYC details when setting up the wallet the only thing you got to do is create a password and you'll get a recovery phrase which you'll need to backup in case you lose your password.
Protonmail is not that safe. It is better than clearnet email providers i suppose.
Cock.li/cummallover are better than proton, because their admin proved it already he is one stubborn motherfucking who is not cooperating to the law when requested. His servers in Romania were already seized twice in the past. However the servers were encrypted and nothing important was revealed.
You just need Amazon, not an onion! Star Cutouts Ltd CS675 Celebrity Standee Ryan Reynolds Cut Out, Multi-Colour, 188 x 55 x 188 cm https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0749P3D1B/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_SN24Q4AK9WYNSEYVT21S
All you need to do is download tor and it will connect (slowly ) and you are on the “darkweb” but the downside is your IP address is still traceable so if you’re just getting on to snoop around it is no big deal but, if you have any thoughts of participating in less than legal activities I’d highly recommend something like TunnelBear, it’s free to a certain amount of GB. Lmk if you need any more clarity, my dm is open
I think the obvious answer is crime books. I can't remember which market (pre-alphabay days), but I once had leftover bitcoin and bought something like this https://www.amazon.com/Complete-5-Piece-Snuff-Genuine-Suede/dp/B084Z6MHZV/ref=sr_1_3
Most likely what they're actually doing, is the same thing as https://haveibeenpwned.com/ and the likes. Reported breaches and leaks, that just extrapolate that data and send an automated email to notify if your name, email, cc, etc. wind up on one of those lists.
You don't need to be that concerned. VPN should be enough. Virual machine won't provide that safety. Check the following site. Use privacy extensions and preferably use Firefox or Tor
https://anonfiles.com/FbAdk4U4u2/DNBIBLE_2_pdf
As I commented above Db Bible 2 link, Google seems to have blocked access to the original link so I uploaded it here instead.
Still works I just re downloaded it myself from there
I don't recommend using free VPN's for iPhones, they provide little to no security and might just cause more problems than good, that said, I recommend using NordVPN
>"If the server is trustworthy you can increase the anonymity and/or privacy (depending on set up) provided by Tor."
Mullvad is just that. They don't cooperate with the feds and are secure af. They also store nothing. Just for surfing or even buying stuff you are at basically 0% risk since it's way too much effort to get through the security layers of that just to compromise OP's activities
I just wanted to say that I've had to delete a lot of posts that violate the rules regarding this topic and a certain website today -
You're all victims of the same scam I'm sorry to say. This post is the proper way to make a front page warning post without violating the rules. All of you are welcome to share you're deleted posts here in this post in a way that does not violate the reddit rules (market names, sources, vendors etc etc). I disliked having to delete those posts - you guys aren't wrong to be angry, but we must all abide by reddits content policy and front page posts that don't will get deleted.

Some examples of what u/razorback44 is talking about,

There's good reference site called wikipedia that people use for research. There's also a cool site called reddit thats cool as shit!

Click those links and the differences are obvious - but imagine the fake site being an exact replica of the site you actually wanted to visit.....you'd never even think to look up at the url and confirm where you are....

Also, a lot of sites offer pgp verification of links - if they do, USE IT!
According to TFA, Russia is not actually blocking Tor; they are blocking the torproject website.
Even if Russia tries to fully block Tor the way that (say) China does, it will still be accessible via Snowflake.
You can helping combat censorship by simply running the extension!

Here's a list of places you can go to which offer free services like the ones hosted at Riseup. I can't give any invite codes out because of spamming. But there are plenty options out there like Autistic/Inventati and Disroot. They cater to decentralized movements and organizations. You might have to make a case for your usage of Riseup if you go to their IRC server and ask for an invite. But it's nothing personal, it's just a risk of spamming and other "black sheep".
This is very traceable but also completely legal, just like any cryptocurrency purchase. Just make sure to exchange your bitcoin for monero before sending it to a market. I like kraken for exchanging cryptos
That delay is normal for coinbase if you're using a bank transfer. If you buy using a debit card on coinbase, the funds are instantly accessible.
Hello, I am steve and the author of the article. Which link are you referring to? https://electrum.org/#download . If so, it works on my machine. Are you using tor browser? Is your javascipt off? Try loading the "unsafe browser" and pasting that link. See if it's the same behavior.
Maybe OP is referring to the one in late December 2018?
This attack has been thwarted. Just be sure you have the latest version of Electrum, downloaded from the official site:

Afaik Tails is less secure against ip revealing exploits and viruses meanwhile qubes-whonix is made in such a way that the browsing vm doesn't even know the actual ip adress of the host machine. Here are some irl cases: https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Security_in_Real_World
I guess tails is better for public computers and networks while whonix for personal one?
https://www.kernel.org/doc/linux/MAINTAINERS - There are developers from many corporations working on the MAINLINE Linux kernel. I didn't say that corporations are using Linux, I said they are developing the Linux kernel. This doesn't even come close to covering the rest of userland tools like glibc, openSSL, and other core parts of the operating system.
Freeware refers to software you can use without paying. Free software is software you have the right to change and redistribute. For the full list of rights, you can look at the GPL.
Free software is not a synonym for freeware. Freeware means you don't pay, free software means you have rights to understand and modify the software. Free software is not necessarily free of charge. I have paid for an Android phone, so you could argue I have paid for Linux and I wouldn't be surprised if you got "scammed" as well.
It wasn't a hack (source), it was a simple breach that wasn't even huge, the statement clearly says that no user was affected by it. Yeah, they could've handled it a bit better, though I kind of understand their side too. They took time to create strategy and make sure everything's fixed.

Or you can order from Valhalla Market.
Using monero is so crazy easy, why wouldn't you just get your BTC off Cashapp, withdraw it to a BTC wallet you reach over ToR only, then exchange for Monero at flyp.me or something then on to DNM. I lose like 3-4 bucks through that entire process.
Any exchange (Coinbase, Coinmama, Kraken, etc.) will require a period of time to verify you identity. Probably about 3 days if everything goes smoothly.
If you ae in a time crunch, you can purchase BTC from https://changenow.io/. All you need is a legible copy of your ID, front and back. With that you can purchase BTC from there within minutes.
I don't know of another exchange that you can do that at, however, there may be one.
I think Feather Wallet also allows it, as well as Exodus. I haven't tried either, so I can't report.
If you just care about exchanging Monero without providing ID, you can use https://changenow.io/ which is the service Cake Wallet uses in the background
You could check changeNOW.io out. You can actually get bitcoin without KYC on their instant exchange, however, it's for orders less than $150. Meaning if you are buying BTC worth below $150
Another way is to trade your BTC for XMR on LocalMonero.co. They also have an onion site. You can trade with someone directly through the site and you'll have your XMR in less than an hour.
However, the more credible the trader you're trading with the higher the price you'll pay for the trade. Some charge up to 25 cents on the dollar.
Another option on LocalMonero is to trade cash by mail. You find a trader who offers that option, send them cash in the mail, when they get the cash they send you your XMR through the exchange. This option is a lot cheaper. You'd have to turn your BTC back into cash or just choose the cash by mail option the next time.
If you're super worried just shuffle: btc=>xmr=>wallet=>different wallet=>market
Or just buy xmr from https://localmonero.co/
Cash over mail seems risky (it is) but if your worried it's the most "secure" way.
Just be safe, I recommend you do a little more research. Plenty of videos on youtube and articles.
https://www.blockchain.com/wallet I would use that over cash app For hardware wallet maybe ledger if you wanna spend some money. Noncustodial wallets include the Bitcoin.com client, BRD, Blockchain, BTC.com, Electron Cash, Copay, Jaxx, Coinomi, Edge, and many more because these platforms give users the ability to store their own private keys. An example of an Electron Cash mnemonic phrase or private key.
Hello! We are really sorry that you had to face some difficulties while using our service. Please provide us your Changelly txn ID so we could look into the matter.
Also, please note that before going through with their transaction, each user has to agree to our Terms of Use, which have a section dedicated to our AML/KYC policy and also a list of all our restricted jurisdictions. It is a requirement for the exchange to be carried out.
I've been testing a bunch of different methods for converting BTC to XMR, and I found that shapeshift.io consistently offers the best rates, followed by changelly.com. The Cake Wallet rate is a bit worse, and Exodus Wallet is consistently the worst (though the aesthetic of the UI is pretty impressive).
I use changelly.com to exchange btc for monero. It works perfectly. You send them the btc, tell them what xmr address to send it to, and it gets processed in less than 30 minutes.
But you can use btc, and most likely you will be fine. Tracing bitcoin, presently, is usually reserved for vendors and bigger transactions.
The reason you see people make a big deal about monero is that it doesn't use a public record of transactions, and for what we are shipping, any added anonymity is welcome.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any clarification on anything xmr related.
changelly.com will swap my btc for xmr too. I already have an account, and the fees are pretty low. I think I can just straight up buy the xmr as well, Im going to test it out tonight.
Yes. You are much better off using Localbitcoin doing a for cash exchange with a non-verified buyer account, then switching the BTC to XMR and back to BTC using https://changelly.com
Monero uses ring signatures(https://www.getmonero.org/resources/moneropedia/ringsignatures.html) to make the transaction allegedly untraceable. The gist is anybody in the ring could have made the signature.
If that fails the TAILS electrum wallet in-between, ideally you don't have any traces of that on your daily OS or around the room that would prove the wallet is yours. It's just a random, anonymous wallet.
If I was combing both ideas I would get monero first in a wallet on my regular OS, maybe from a decentralized p2p exchange like bisq or something. Then boot up TAILS and go to the xmr.to onion link, and enter my TAILS electrum address, and write down the address they give you (destroy the paper later). Then from the regular OS send monero to the given xmr.to address, and they forward it to the TAILS electrum address.
I guess if your regular OS was secure enough and Unix-like such as linux or bsd you could get away with doing it all on that one OS. But the idea of typing in the TAILS address on my regular OS and possibly leaving any traces bothers me
The alternative to that is trying to get prepaid cards paid cash from a random store without ruining your anonymity. But idk how many online btc places have an onion link and accept prepaid cards. So this would be a hassle unless you found one
Yea, I wasn't saying I know more than the tor developers lol unless they are telling people to take blanketed advice. I am saying that you can make your own vpn service on a vps or other remote system. Which would eliminate some worries.
Most of the vpn commentary focus on paying a vpn provider to use their servers and not setting up one yourself which isn't that difficult. Anyhow, the best guidance is to assess your own situation and see if the pros outweigh the cons.
Whonix has a good article on it.
