I have an ergobaby as well and I signed up to do a free video fit check with them. I believe it was over zoom (or FaceTime? It’s been awhile). They were so helpful and even gave me some tips for different carries that I hadn’t even thought about. Highly recommend! I couldn’t find anything on their website about it, but when I texted their help number (also a great feature, they let me send pics and gave me text feedback) they mentioned the video fit check. Here’s the link they sent me:

I swear I don’t work for them, lol. I was just very grateful for their customer support.
From your description it sounds like you only want to use it for drop-off and pick-up. Have you considered a lightweight stroller base for your car seat? This is especially convenient if you use a car seat base in your car as well (rather than strapping the seat onto the car).
I‘m aware this is a babywearing sub, but for something that sounds like a 10min twice a day deal I‘m not convinced it‘s the best option. The baby might fall asleep in the car seat or in the carrier and just moving the seat (without hurting yourself) might be less disruptive.
The Mayo Clinic says: "If your baby is younger than 6 months, keep him or her out of direct sunlight."
I would choose a hike that has plenty of shade, particularly because (as another poster said) babies under six months are generally not recommended to wear sunscreen. If you find a nice shady hike, I think a 90 minute hike in a carrier should be fine.
About the wrap: I found that my baby got too hot in a Boba wrap even being worn around the house, so it just depends on your baby's heat tolerance.
I have this one and it’s been surprisingly great for the cost! Luvdbaby Premium Baby Backpack Carrier for Hiking with Kids – Carry Your Child Ergonomically… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071FX37JZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_ZB224R216PXF5AYN7GC5
My boba 4gs has a tab that's supposed to snap over your purse strap... you can kinda see it in the pictures on Amazon
Never used it though, I don't really like the carrier for my body type lol. Usually I just leave my purse at home or in the car and make my husband pay :P
This helmet! And yes that's why we got it because I was anxious about the blows to the head. They're little and not falling from high up but still
Sun hat, for sure. We’ve gotten this hat a few times as my kids grow. If you have the extra free hand, an umbrella. Umbrellas aren’t just for rain! 😁
I've had good luck with this hat with both of my kids - it has an adjustable toggle for the head and the chin which I found super helpful for keeping on.
We used this baby carrier cover. It has elastic all around the edge, so I would layer up baby a bit and put him in and then put this one around the carrier. It covered up his feet well. If it wasn't too cold I did this with my jacket just opened and him on front. When it got colder though I zipped up my jacket around me and then put the carrier on top. This has pockets in the front which is nice to keep my hands on him and also warm.
Hi! We have the same carrier. I find that for little babies (and our little lady was tiny!) it works best to adjust the "seat" for the smaller baby. Idk how to send you a photo of what ours looks like, but the product image on Amazon shows it adjusted to the way we wear it - it has some wing looking things that come together in the middle, so the seat the baby sits in is narrower. Maybe give that a shot!
Have you seen those hip carriers? They don’t wrap around the baby so you still have to support her with your arm, but it allows her to sit on your hip without you having to carry her. I bought one because the reviews were so great but my baby isn’t born yet so haven’t tested it out yet. Tushbaby
I see, that definitely makes it harder! In that case I would recommend bringing a portable bassinet (something like this) that way if there happens to be an open seat on the plane you might be able to switch to it and you can use it so you have the option of setting them down. You can also bring a boppy to make it easier to hold them in your lap. I’ve never found it very comfortable to baby wear while sitting down so baby wearing on a plane doesn’t seem like the best option, but if you really want to do it I would recommend a soft unstructured carrier like the baby k’tan for a baby as young as yours.
Good luck! Hopefully the flight won’t be so bad for you guys and you find a solution that works for you both!
I breastfeed in a My Honey Wrap which is essentially just a light-weight Moby. Living in the deep south I had to find something as thin but durable as possible for the weather so this was a perfect choice for that reason. The ease of hight adjustment with moving the knot tied in front is helpful with feeding. My girl is three months and I can’t go completely hands free yet but it’s enough to leave one arm available to do what ever while the other arm acts as extra support for her head as needed.
I can’t recommend this wrap enough.
We have switched to a hiking backpack. It’s easy to put baby in, he has a good view, and it’s really easy on the back. Much more hands free than any of my other carriers and I don’t risk splattering babe with hot food while cooking. 10/10 recommend. The linked pack is one that was gifted to us, but there are many out there at all price points.
It looks like kind of like an ergo baby or Tula carrier. I don’t know if they sell in Europe but in the US they are pricey but certainly cheaper than 380 euros.
Would something like this work? I know it leaves his cheeks exposed but would be better than nothing? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F7WVPJJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabt1_kM1QFb731Z0F6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I’m fairly new to baby-wearing so take my advice with a grain of salt. I live in the Midwest and I’ve been walking in some chilly weather typically about 20 Fahrenheit. Honestly - I SO LOVE the cold weather over the heat, even when it’s windy! My little girl is six weeks today and we’ve been walking for about three weeks or more now.
I ordered myself a zip up baby carrier hoodie from amazon today, but haven’t gotten it yet. I’m hoping to have something like that to go under my coat when it gets even colder.
Right now, I’ve been wearing a tank top and then a thick hoodie on top of it. I also wear a hat and gloves. I put the carrier on top of my hoodie. I dress my baby in long sleeves, little sweatpants, socks, and then in this snowsuit jacket from Target. It keeps her nice and warm, but she isn’t sweaty when she comes out. The other night it was about 10 degrees out and a light breeze when we went walking in the dark and I just wrapped another large scarf around us. She tends to rest her face against me and it keeps her from getting sun or wind in her face.
I think you just have to check in with your baby’s temp while walking and do some trial and error.
I just bought this for that exact reason. I’m due within the week so dont have a review for you yet.

A cheapie amazon mesh ring sling. I’m about to buy one. A ring slingin’ friend recommended it to me. We hang out in the pool a lot. My baby swims but I’d like to wear her for part of the time because my three year old needs to swim swim swim before nap 😂

I spelled it incorrectly in my previous posts, my apologies. Bebamour, and I said Bebear. Lol. Close enough I suppose.
Perhaps you’re trying to solve the wrong problem - would you consider standing while working? There are several affordable products like this one that help you to work while standing instead of sitting.
https://www.amazon.com/Primo-LapBaby-Ergonomic-Adjustable-Portable/dp/B09NCDP4SM
I don’t know anything about this product or it’s safety but the pics show exactly what you’re looking for. I’ve seen it used by wheelchair users too
Congrats! That sounds like fun.
We also have an ergo Omni (breeze) and leave a hat like this one tied to one of the buttons on the side for just that reason. I like being able to tuck the back and side flaps around baby to keep the sun off her face.
I bought this Ergo rain cover off Amazon. But truthfully I have yet to use it. I just keep it in my car just in case we get caught in the rain.
i’ve never used the ktan so im not sure how it works, however, the boba i use claims to beca one size fits all as the wrap uses a special stretchy material to accommodate baby. As far as back support, it never bothered my back, but i don’t have back issues so i’m not sure if this would work for you. My baby is about 10 lbs while i wore it and i would wear her about 2 hrs at a time. Here’s the think from amazon to the one i purchased. You can also read other peoples reviews as well as search any key words in the questions section (ie. back support). This is what I tuck into my diaper pack for the day: munchkin changing pad liner. They’re super soft and fold down really small.
The one we have right now is a Sunveno. It has a seat platform thing but it's quite small. I know he'll want to see over my shoulder and I want to be able to show him things we look at, so it's a necessity in our case.
My husband uses a waist belted little hip seat and holds her with his arms. Still helps keep you from getting tired out but it's not hands free. https://www.amazon.com/GLISOO-Comfortable-Adjustable-Positions-Breastfeeding/dp/B08Y69GQFG
My baby HATES the sky. Even on a cloudy day she is so dramatic. Sunglasses help - our faves are these ones
I went for function over looks. I got a Gears fleece dickie that kept my neck and chest really warm. I’d put it on first before the wrap or baby. Under my coat (with coat extender), it just looked like a black fleece turtleneck.
I went for function over looks. This fleece “dickie” was great for winter walks in the NE. I’d put it on over my clothes, then put on the wrap and baby, then my coat with a coat extender attached. It kept my neck and chest super warm and with a coat over it, it just looked like a fleece turtleneck.
Balboa sling. It's like ring sling with no adjustments needed. Just throw it over your shoulder , as easy as putting on a purse

Will you add a link to a diagram for point #2? Sorry, I have an easier time learning visually (images, not letters) and I've read through a few times now and can't make sense of the words.
I'm pregnant with my first baby right now, and didn't grow up around babies, so I have zero experience with newborns to draw from. To me, swing freely sounds like this: https://www.ecosia.org/images?q=baby%20wrap%20carrier#id=4B7C32DBC2196E43FDB7E5F9871D3EABEB0945EC
But I've also heard babies should have their legs in an M shape so I'm trying to reconcile the two and am not sure what alignment to go for.
Front carry or back?
Front carry, I wore a backpack. Back carry, I just got one of these to wear in front, and it’s big enough to carry water, snacks, wallet, phone, first aid kit, and a change of kid clothes, but it doesn’t go swinging around worn nearly empty.
My husband liked the Boppy carrier because it was easier for him to put on than the fabric carrier we initially bought. We both used it until about 18 months

This is the Moby one I like, it looks a little more involved but still faster than tying a wrap and then tucking baby into it lol Moby Cloud Ultra-light Hybrid Carrier https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08DYGRRCB/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_E0FDPZ9Y84CCRCVV0YHZ it looks like they've got a couple others that seem like the K'tan
I've seen folks using this style of towel rack and it looks nice! I would avoid hooks, having all the weigh of a wrap hanging on one spot in the fabric would make me worry about uneven wear in that spot over time. Great gift idea, I keep my wraps in multiple places so my husband doesn't make fun of how many I have, lol - I'd be delighted if he gave me a place to display them!
These are my fave!
Bonus that they’re very stretchy and worked over my cloth diapers and they actually fit my big guy. Ordered the 6-12m at 6 months and I JUST had to order to the next size for my now 14m old. I love them.

I ordered this set and this set from Amazon. I prefer footless Sleep and Plays for my daughter too.
It looks like the shoulder straps clip in below your babies’ armpits rather than in front of. Here’s a picture of what I think you are aiming for- might help your LOs shoulders come down slightly
Are his arms above the side straps? Might just be my eyes though! At that age you probably want under the straps- here’s a pic https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ergobaby-Carrier-Ergonomic-Positions-Backpack/dp/B07DFVLH4P/ref=asc_df_B07DFVLH4P/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=218143897847&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17407293628751909196&hvpone=&hvptwo=&...
That bunting suit is probably good! The one I have is just fleece so not really water resistant. I liked the snuggle cover in case of snow or rain but with that one you probably don’t need it.
I have this but in the buffalo plaid: Jolly Jumper Snuggle Cover, Black https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01BHM093C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_STYMGEJNGDB7P6778YWW
There's a good documentary that really drives home how the lack of support, especially in cases where juggling work and school is already a problem. Lack of family support can be hard as well--if you look at how large a newborn's stomach is in the first 10 days of life, they don't actually require very much at every feeding; this helps Mom build supply, but well-meaning relatives immediately jump on the just give him formula, he's starving when things like cluster feeding hit or when it doesn't look like he ate very much.
There is an infant insert that should be used for any baby under four months. I have the same carrier and a 10 week old, it makes a huge difference and feels much more comfortable. Ergobaby Easy Snug Infant Insert, Natural, Premium Cotton , 1.25 Pound https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ET1L33I/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_7W1FF0KDBTTRP4YE3030?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
So close!! Yeah, she was probably super comfy on that walk! When it gets colder, they make insulated covers that will help keep her warm.
We use this one
I have the Moby baby wearing hoodie which is nice but not necessarily practical to use all the time (if gets spit up on we take a while to finish laundry lol). I also got a cheap maternity jacket with #2 so I might try that this year if it gets cold enough. Mainly I use this cover and then wear my own jacket or w/e. I like that I can use it with carrier or stroller. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0159VZBNA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
Layered clothing, hat and mittens, and best of all, this cover that wrapped around baby in carrier and had pocket for me and access to reach in to touch him too and keep my hands warm also. I loved it!
We use this one from Konny. It’s really warm and cozy. Konny Baby Carrier Winter Cover | Compatible with Any Baby Carrier and Stroller | Protect Baby from Cold Weather | Polar Fleece | Newborns, Infants to Toddlers (Sky Blue, Free) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08131H24C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_44P0D1S7E7EM34232P6P?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I wear one of these. it definitely can’t fit much. I usually just have a key and one card in it.
I have the fleece slippers for baby. They come in sizes 0-6 months, 6-12 months, etc. You can find them at Target or on Amazon. I linked some, just for an example
And while babywearing coats exist, I also just size up two sizes in coat size and have been known to cut my sweatshirts up. I slice them along the shoulders horizontally, and I always buy off the sale rack- so no real issue. Bonus if it's stitched along the shoulders there so I just cut along the seam. Babywearing is warm so I find a sweatshirt usually works for me!

We use these type of booties that have a strap around the ankle so there's no issue with having shoes on. A bit pricy, but we only use one pair given baby isn't walking
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JZQV79C/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_AT8KERY8WMBVQH30RKP2
Soft booties that have a velcro strap at the ankle, like others have mentioned, are great.
I wore babycarrier blankets/jackets from Uniqlo and Amazon Japan. I just searched Amazon US and found this similar type of carrier blanket: Jolly Jumper Snuggle Cover for Soft Baby Carriers, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001P1VBH4/ . Good luck!
Hudson Baby on Amazon has them much cheaper and just as good. https://www.amazon.com/Hudson-Baby-Booties-Charcoal-Heather/dp/B074G4LV3J/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=fleece+baby+booties&qid=1632946239&sr=8-5
Seconding this! We got this cheap changing pad and it was probably our most used baby item for the first few months! Now it lives in the diaper bag since she's a bit big for the one that came with the bag. Get one for MIL and she can change anywhere.
It’s Delta brand I think maybe you could find at target/walmart but i got it on amazon! Here’s the link to it:
I have a few different ring slings including the hip baby carrier and if you're getting it off Amazon I would recommend looking at this one instead
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XS3EFXO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_D7PKPY23X3Q6HNQCMAVE
I really prefer it to the hip baby carrier for comfort and ease of use. it has a "pocket" for baby's butt, and a padded edge on the top and bottom for comfort.
it's much easier to thread because of how the tail is designed. the only downside is you have to make sure you fan the fabric properly in the ring to make adjusting easier
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WHJYC5R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_6FRK22TYEYBNCPPZ856V
To keep my son's head supported I always tucked it underneath the fabric on one side of my chest like you can see in the photo here. Also look up video tutorials that helped me a lot!
Technically the weight limit for stretchies is 35 lbs but at four LOs weight things might start getting uncomfortable for you. I have this and loved it, but now I’ve moved on to wovens because my 19 lb chunk hurts my back if I have him in a stretchy for anything other than watching TV on the couch. This one was my first woven and it’s super easy to use
Thank you!! They’re from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08N4F9N7D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_8JON9b2E9PMj5 I pretty much live in them these days because they have cutouts for nursing and are super comfy. And thanks for the info on the recall, I had no idea 😳
I don't have help on the fit, but I had a very similar outfit for my infant I found in Amazon. It was so cute I bought it in a bigger size
It doesn't look like it's available right now, but thought I'd share anyway: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07G4YGNLK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_ATT724A6XQZPDJP3JQWK
yes go for it also have a look at ergobaby Omni 360 . would also recommend you https://www.amazon.com/Einstein-Box-Newborns-Contrast-Flashcards/dp/B08LBFRY6J/
Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like it's this carrier? It looks like the few new born pictures people have posted their babies head seems to be sitting down lower into the carrier as well and it says this model doesn't need a newborn Insert either. I wouldn't want that but it looks like thats how it fits others as well. I honestly went through about 4 different carriers before I found the one that worked my husband and I and I'm so happy I didn't settle. If you don't feel completely comfortable then keep trying new ones!
It is the 360. And the insert is made for this model. By the same company. here’s a link
I think it’s an older version of
BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Mini, 3D Mesh, Anthracite https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DY4J9YQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_HW86JB8YQM1BGY9EC7CS?psc=1
The key thing for me is back support and the ergo I have just has one little strap connecting the shoulder straps together. The baby Bjorne has a very adjustable back support system that my husband and I can both adjust to wear him. Also, our ergo has a wider seat area for the baby, so forward facing wasn’t as comfortable for him. Definitely takes a bit of practice to get the hang of the Bjorne as there are a lot more straps and adjustments, so each has their own advantage. I still throw him in the ergo every once in a while if I need my hands and he just wants to be close. Teething is a b.
I put my baby in a snowsuit or dress in a ton of layers. However- I did notice this jacket extender that’s for maternity or baby wearing so your baby is inside your jacket
https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Extender-Maternity-Baby-carrying-one-size/dp/B07TK5THR6
Using this baby cover with my second in our cold winter and it’s amazing. Was outside on a hill hiking this past weekend in 20 degree weather for 2 hours and my newborn was WARM
I just recently bought this off of Amazon and LOVE it: Bebamour Universal Hoodie All Season Carrier Cover for Baby Carrier (Dark Grey) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078NJLX4T/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6Dd9BbFZBE6VR
It covers the carrier and clips to both the carrier's straps and around your waist so you can then put a jacket over yourself. I used it while wearing my daughter at an event all day last weekend and it was perfect, especially for the price. It also has a hood for extra cold days or to encourage her to nap, AND it can be used over a stroller too to basically create a warm pocket for her to sit in. I loved that it was multi-purpose and that I didn't need to zip something into an existing coat. Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but this one has my vote! :)
Your the exact same size as my husband and I got this off amazon. You will also need the extension belt. We love it because it’s soooo easy to wear just the hip seat. Our boy is big, 30lbs at 14 months and this SAVES our back when carrying such a big kid. Also now that he is his own active kid who wants to walk then be carried then walk again this makes it sooooo easy! And there was no worry for me when he was an infant and I wanted to make sure the carrier gave the right support to him because of the seat style it’s fool proof.

I don’t have the Ergo but I have a lillebaby that has less storage space than the Ergo. I got a Velcro pouch of amazon and attached it to the waistband. (Tokkie baby)
I found this: https://www.amazon.com/WonaBang-Carrier-Infants-Toddlers-Traditional/dp/B085NP24PX/
Not sure about quality but at that price I'm willing to give it a shot. Haven't ordered yet because I'm not sure which size to get. I'm waiting to visit my MIL again, I'm going to measure hers and also ask to try it on to see if I like it (and if I should get the same size or bigger/smaller).
To be honest after long enough and sore hips from pregnancy, both waistbands can dig in if they're worn low. Both are meant to be worn high up, as close to under your bust as you can comfortably get. For me at 5'2" I probably have to wear lower than some people because baby needs room so he's not up in my face!
That said, the plastic of HB feels better for me than the metal of SB. I do like that the SB rings are aluminum now, I think they switched mid-2019, and they're a lot lighter for packing than the older brass rings. I always felt like i was going to pick up the carrier wrong and smack my son in the head with the heavy brass rings rings lol.
With the lawsuit, yeah, just interesting. I buy everything from Amazon and I'm going to recommend the Lillebaby tummy pad from there, to wear as lumbar support in the back of the HB waist band. I wish HB offered matching ones I could buy from their site though! I've seen some on Etsy in the past, maybe someone who makes matching suck pads could make one. It helped make wearing a lot more comfortable once my son got near 20 lbs.
Here's a great one on Amazon!! Love lillebaby. https://www.amazon.co.uk/LILLEbaby-Ring-Sling-Removable-Pocket/dp/B01N2T7X3F/ref=sr_1_60_sspa?keywords=baby+ring+sling+double&qid=1584424118&sr=8-60-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEySlU3NFZWSlU5NTU3JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwOTE0NzUzRFpUTVczS0VJOExIJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxNzQ0MTgzQVk5UFFDMzFBV0hPJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYnRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
Haha. FYI, if you ever want to look even more like you’re wearing body armor, I stumbled on this thing on amazon today: tactical-inspired baby carrier . Check out the back side view.
I got a vlokup ring sling on Amazon for super cheap and it works great. I use it for my newborn and also my toddler (almost 3 years old). Here's the link:

Sakura Bloom has lovely carriers, but definitely pricey. We started with a boba, which i think is pretty similar to a moby. But I could never get the hang of it.
I bought this ring sling on Amazon for $40 when baby was a few months old. Looks like the price varies by color. I really liked it! Once I figured out how to use a ring sling, I carried my baby around in it a lot. Both in the house and out. He's too big for it now (upgraded to a onbuhimo for back carry), but I'm glad I used the ring sling for as long as I did.
I looked at a lot of options and went with the link below after a lot of research and debate with myself. I just started wearing this a week ago, has a zip in panel for maternity and 1 for baby wearing. I got it so I could wear it as a normal fleece with out the panels once my baby wearing days are done, but doesn’t fit with out at least one of the panels yet. Was able to zip in both panels together and individually easily though. I am still experimenting but have tried a ring sling and Moby under coat. Also have a lillebaby all seasons will be trying soon when baby is a little bigger (she’s 1 month about 9lbs, not fully extending legs yet). Coat sizes run a bit small so size up if you purchase: I’m 5’10 and still over 200 lbs post partum weight, got coat so I could baby wear while taking dogs for walk around my hood so hopefully weight will continue to come off. Likes: has a hood for me and 1 for baby, fleece is soft, has thumb holes in sleeves, roomy fit over baby. Dislikes: no zippers on shallow side pockets for me so I have to put keys and phone in pants pocket, lack of pockets in general, baby hood does not detach, came from Poland and took several weeks to ship (I am in US). I have been layering underneath when colder, still could put a larger fleece or parka over top of us if necessary and just not zip it. Baby stays very warm wearing a onesie plus sleeper with feet and hat and I am very warm from her and sometimes sweaty wearing just a camisole, long sleeve t-shirt, wrap + baby, and coat fully zipped. So far have tried leggings plus sweats over my legs. Could also do leggings + snow pants for colder, hasn’t gone below 35F here yet.

What about a mesh ring sling? Mesh=cooler. Ring sling=easy to use.
I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XIA7066/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
and it seems to be great! (though, disclaimer, i'm still pregnant and tested with my 12lb cat lol)
Not sure how the one shouldered wear would affect your spine though.
The JJ Cole Agility Carrier is pre-wrapped and you put it on like a t-shirt. I got mine for about thirty bucks at Walmart and it worked great!.

I got this one: Vlokup Baby Wrap https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DTC7P1C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_3X37CbCDAGNYY
It's an "off brand" and not one of the super well known brands, but it works just fine. It's less than $20 too which is why I got it, I've spent so much on wraps already The fabric isn't stretchy at all like a Moby/boba so it took me a little bit too get used to it but I like it. Baby does too which is the important part
Lillebaby has a pad for this! this worked for us!
I use YakTrax, but you've already mentioned that you use crampons. Other than that, I just take greater care with for placement when wearing my little one while outside.
Uhm may not be for you but my daughter was the same way, she is currently 4 months and have been wearing her facing out in a hip seat carrier for about a month now (so since 3 months). Not everyone likes it but once you get used to it it’s great she can face forward and see everything and be perfectly comfortable and supported by the seat. Its not much strain to me or my back either because the seat helps with a lot of her weight. Ima link the carrier on amazon so you can see what I am talking about but yes very much recommend it worked out amazingly for me and her.
Depends on if his big bro was carrying a backpack with our water bottles and snacks or not. If he was carrying his little backpack then I just wore it empty, sometimes just clicked around my waist and I let it flap down, sometimes had it empty in “backpack” mode.
If I had a big backpack that meant I was carrying him on my front anyway so I’d either keep it in place if I thought he’d need to get back in soon but if we were in a flat away from cliffs area and he was awake and wanting to run is stuff it in the backpack!
Also for winter I recommend a blanket/cover type thing... that way baby stays warm! I used this one and it worked just fine!

I hook a diaper clutch to the waist strap of my ergo when I'm out and about doing errands and such. Fits a few diapers and wipes, my wallet, a folding fan (hot south), and a light blanket or burp cloth. Plus i usually have a toy hooked on the handle. I keep a normal big, stuffed diaper bag in the car with extra clothes, snacks, sunscreen, etc. If I am making a big day of it, I also have a camel pack backpack for water for both of us and snacks, sunscreen and a change of clothes. Clutch like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Skip-Hop-Portable-Changing-Cushioned/dp/B00B7XUVOE
Edit: mind you, I have zero problem looking like a pack mule going on a hike, so YMMV.
Are you using an Ergo infant insert? I used this one https://www.amazon.com/Ergobaby-Easy-Infant-Insert-Natural/dp/B01ET1L3G0%3Fpsc%3D1%26SubscriptionId%3DAKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q%26tag%3Dduckduckgo-iphone-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB01ET1L33I?th=1&psc=1
And I liked it a lot. It held her in place really well and supported her head. After she grew out of the insert, I'm still using the butt pillow at 4 months.
The Roocoat is one option. It fits over both you and the baby, and keeps baby warm with your own body heat. Not so aesthetically pleasing, perhaps, but you and your husband might both be able to fit.
I think you're thinking of Frogs Togs. It's a cooling towel you get wet and put against your skin to cool you. A lot of babywearers use them. They're supposed to work really well if you put it between yourself and your baby. It's on my list for summer wearing. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BW7PUG4/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_YfRpxbJV8Y6ZY
I just got this cover today, and I love it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0159VZBNA/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_j4zLwbDZ44QS1
It's still pretty lightweight, but layered with a little snow suit/bunting, etc it's nice and warm and gives a little extra protection from wind and rain. It'll also be perfect in early spring and fall by itself.
I have no experience with the Boken bag, but we have the Jeep backpack diaper bag and love it. It has an insulated zipper pocket for bottles, designated pocket for diapers, a wipes container built right into the side for easy access, and lots of great usable pockets. The straps are thinner which I thought would be a bad thing, but I actually love it because when babywearing (also using buckle carrier), it's not bulky over the straps. It also has clips to go on the stroller.
