Hello again Campus Community!
I am a reporter for The Front (formerly The Western Front). and I'm writing a story about Earthquake Preparedness on Campus. The question I'm trying to answer with this story is: when the Big One hits, or if there's an earthquake in general, what should students, staff, faculty, and visitors do to be safe? And another is: do students, staff, and faculty feel prepared in the event of a quake (no shame).
I think everyone has some advice or an opinion on this, and I'd love to hear it! If you're available between now and this Tuesday, please schedule a 10-15 minute interview with me at a time that works for you on my Calendly:

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you all.
Hello Campus Community,
I am a reporter for The Front (formerly The Western Front). I am investigating this caterpillar infestation (pictured below, photo credit Ethan Henry) near the Wade King Recreation Center and possibly other groves of trees around campus.
I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this? if so, I would love to schedule a 10-15 minute interview to ask a few questions about it sometime before the end of the week. There is a potential link to climate change here, since warmer temperatures cause insect larvae, like caterpillars, to hatch before bird chicks do, resulting in situations of overpopulation like this one. If you've noticed larger-than-usual swarms of caterpillars elsewhere, I'd like to talk to you as well. This could be a widespread issue. Here is my Calendly with my availability: https://calendly.com/jacob-f-odonnell
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you all.
I had Stephanie for 124, and she was really good. Very structured and she always put up a ton of examples when it came to implementing the concepts.
She's really helpful in office hours too. She knows what she's doing and she doesn't treat you like shit for not knowing concepts.
10/10 would recommend.
Edit: Just checking out Amber's RMP page, not a lot of people liked her. Take it with a grain of salt, but still: http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=306963&showMyProfs=true
Since you're planning to transfer next fall, you should try and take FREN 201 for that quarter anyway. Maybe you can brush up on your French by using Duolingo, then before fall 2018 you can contact the Modern and Classical Languages department about placement into FREN 201, as u/Alphachicken wrote below. That way you wouldn't have to wait a year and a half for 104. (And Duolingo is a great source for learning new languages--and reviewing past-learned languages as well!)
Hi! I’d love to hear more about your experience with Lakewood and your history with sailing. Can we schedule a interview? I would only need a few moments of your time. Thanks so much.
You can schedule here: https://calendly.com/briannapoulos-thefront/interview-availability

Hello, WWU students. My name is Keenan Kaemingk. I work in AS Productions and put on weekly virtual events during this pandemic. This week we have an Animal themed Trivia and are giving away $25 to the winner. The winner must show up, if they don’t we will give it to the next highest score. The $25 gift card will be for the restaurant of your choice. We will notify the winner at game night, so show up and see if you get it. If you don’t win, you can still show up and play games with us and other WWU students.
Game Night is tonight, Wednesday at 7PM. All you need is a phone/laptop/tablet. We will be playing a variety of jack box games. We will be broadcasting the game screen on Zoom, so it is ideal if you have a laptop/tablet and a phone to play so that you can see the game screen and enter the answers. But just a laptop works just the same! We will be playing from 7-8:30pm. Feel free to hop on at any time, there is no pressure to turn on your microphone or video. You can just come and play without needing to talk. Invite a friend or two if you want as well.
You have until 7 tonight to fill out the trivia if you want to win but come regardless if you do good or bad on it. Look forward to seeing you there.
Also, feel free to ask a question here if you have any.

The ToS states "Your Content. You agree that You are solely responsible for the content ("Content") sent or transmitted by You or displayed or uploaded by You in using the Services and for compliance with all Laws pertaining to the Content, including, but not limited to, Laws requiring You to obtain the consent of a third party to use the Content and to provide appropriate notices of third party rights. You represent and warrant that You have the right to upload the Content to Zoom and that such use does not violate or infringe on any rights of any third party." ( https://zoom.us/terms) So even by the ToS, any person who wishes to record the lecture must obtain consent from those in attendance before doing so, in locations that have such laws. Because most lectures are gated behind a specific link or password, they are considered private and recording consent must be obtained. In addition, the webcam requirement is not imposed by Zoom themselves, and the privacy infringements would be as a result of the professor who requires this.
^ This. with a VPN there isn't any way for them to discern traffic types. Restek purposefully throttles P2P to discourage illicit activities (if memory serves right).
Also, I would recommend AirVPN
I have a private room in a 4 bed 2 bath apartment that I am trying to get some to takeover my lease. Rent is $810 per month. You will have your own private room. Here is the link to my facebook marketplace listing for more information: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/686462602213106/
I have an auto immune disorder and don't feel comfortable living with so many people during a pandemic when my immune system isn't that great in the first place.
You might also consider looking into using this site/app in the future too. It’s free for the first year for current students, so definitely something to take advantage of while still in school. It definitely helped me get started, financially.
I went to WSU for a year, lived in GG (it was great there), but the town just wasn't for me. It's like a prison with cornfield bars. An awesome black friend of mine in the student senate was verbally attacked by some guys when he was walking home one night. I had never seen him so fearful of anything. I didn't leave because of the backwards hicks though, I left because I felt unfulfilled in my bland engineering-heavy material sciences major, and my grades were starting to slip.
I'm at WWU now with one year left on my BS of Industrial Design (product design) and not even once have I regretted my decision. Before I applied I took a bunch of courses at Bellevue College and online classes to get caught up (with the WWU curriculum), and to get the remaining gen-ed classes out of the way for cheaper.
As for campus beauty, WWU wins hands down. It's built next to an arboretum many times larger than itself... with a view of the bay. Although, as long as you're at WSU you should check out the tall hill east of the campus greenhouses (you have to hop a short fence). I remember watching my ex fire poi up there at night and it's the only time I ever thought of WSU as beautiful. You can see everything. The only thing comparable here is hiking in the arboretum at night (when it's "closed") and seeing the campus lights through the trees in the hammock I hid up there.
Talk to your academic adviser immediately and start looking into how to transfer credits.
If that's the case, is everything he teaches "boring" to him? Because on his RMP page, his teaching style is pretty consistently shit even for 4-500 level classes.
For some reason, it is now requiring a password. SO here you go:

WWU CSCI Alum from '92 here (back when all almost all classes were done on monochrome CRT VT52 consoles in Bond Hall hooked up to a VAX mainframe...) Check out classes of interest on Udemy.com; there's a ton of good, current stuff there. If you are thinking of going into Web / JavaScript development, check out FrontEndMasters.com; there's a ton of interesting courses on that ($40/month) site. Use your free time to learn something you're interested in, CS-wise or not.
They also make one that you [mount underneath your water bottle cage](https://www.amazon.com/Bicycle-Airtag-Label-Bottle-Holder/dp/B094D2CW2H). If you're into 3D printing or know someone who can print them, there are free models on Thingiverse.
WWU mandated Cyberpunk 2077
If I were to do it again, I'd buy a cheap brother laser printer like this one for $85.
The reason is it's a small hassle to print stuff at school. Every minute counts in the morning and most students print at school, so it can be a struggle finding an open computer before morning classes. So you sit there and wait....5 people are looking at facebook...3 minutes left until class starts. Eventually one will open up but I would rather pay $100 to buy a printer than deal with that for 4 years.
If you never print the day of, it's probably not worth it. Campus prints are very cheap.
