Currently stuck in my apartment, so this is the most I can do right now...
I'd take it in if it weren't for our dog who hates cats :/
[Edit] well 10 mins later, me and my SO felt too bad and brought him in. He's currently in our dog's kennel warming up with a full belly :)
I also have sought after accord wheels and use these wheels locks. As a mechanic they are very difficult to remove without the key and if they somehow do get 1 off it will be 30+ minutes a wheel

PS Eric Berger also wrote a book about the early days of SpaceX called Liftoff. I'm in the middle of it and very interesting.
Don’t assure if you can’t prove it. Here you go. Many months since August 2017 there has been little rainfall. Closest when I searched was Spring. Most recently January and March it did not rain 3-4 days a week. April it rained approx once in the last week.
More months you can reference: December 2018. November 2018. October 2017. May 2018.
Etc etc. And even the months where rainfall was heavy...it’s Houston.
I was skeptical but Weather Underground is predicting "Snow Showers" in the afternoon, too! Screen capture
True, Amazon has 1000 of them for $6. That specific company sells a lot of other labels for medical use too if you want some more variety in life.
If you’re seriously looking for one, I would recommend the Viofo A119 V2 . I purchased it over the summer and I’ve been quite happy with it! I bought this polarized lens to go with it, and it’s worked well in catching all the goofballs on the road I come across.
You just can't let go of your baseless hate.
It's not illegal to own businesses. His son runs them. Get the fuck over yourself and stop being a parasite.
Or just open up like 30 in a row and keep the one where the seal doesn't break, or hey Amazon

The expression is "at a loss".
Engine failures on 4 cylinder Kias/Hyundais of this time period are quite common.
> I bought a Lemon!
Nope. You bought a used car with 129k miles on it. Things just wear out/break after the miles start piling up.
Since it was 2 months ago, I don't see any recourse. If it had been 2 days after you bought it, you might get the dealer to take it back or help with the repair bill.
Just finished a book on the housing market. If the book is correct the collapsing condos in Florida might be a bigger deal than evictions

Hey r/Houston,
I reposted this because I didn't include a photo on my first try. Basically my wife and I found this dog last night and have been taking care of him for the time being. My wife took him to the vet this morning and got some info from the chip but we haven't been successful in contacting the alleged owner. Chip says he's registered in Pasadena, tx but that's quite a ways away from my neck of the woods.
If you or someone you know is missing your boxer pup, please reach out to me here. This is the link to the NextDoor post: https://nextdoor.com/post/97605794?init_source=copy_link_share
Thanks in advance for any help!

Showing a current tornado warning. Take cover if you're in south central Harris County.

Update: A tornado was sighted at FM 2579 at Agnes Road just south of
Sugarland.
Wired into my car. I don't use the parking sensor thing because it's been known to drain batteries, but besides that it works great.
You do have to get this kit in order to hard wire it in. I had bestbuy geek squad wire it for me and it was like $60.
It's an Ambient Weather WS-2902C WiFi Smart Weather Station which I got on Amazon for $169 in March of 2019. I imagine I'll have to climb up there and change batteries soon, but so far, so good.
I had a couple before this one, and linking the older ones to Weather Underground required tying the console to a computer to upload the data. The newer WiFi stations, once configured, send the data via WiFi and are pretty much "set and forget".
It is necessary to have the station mounted somewhere high enough to pick up wind speed and direction without interference from stuff nearby, like fences or trees, etc, in order to provide accurate data.
It is fun to look at the Weather Underground's map showing personal weather stations in the area. Comparing data from various stations can be fascinating.
This is from last year and I don't think they have the drone anymore as it crashed earlier this year: http://gizmodo.com/5890507/police-drone-crashes-into-police
Oh my! I would be down. I can bring cookies :)! I have been baking for over a year as a random hobby and I only bake to give cookies away. I made triple chocolate chip cookies with crushed oreos yesterday, but totally changed the recipe to be more amazing. I call them Maddie's Famous Diabetes Cookies or Stoner's Delight, can't quite pick a name. I would also be down for volunteering.
Have you had your HVAC serviced recently? It might just need a touch of refrigerant.
Lived in a cheap apartment that was built in the 70s for 13 years. HVAC was probably original to the apartment since it looked old AF. Every couple of years, the HVAC wouldn't cool. Maintenance would come out and add refrigerant. They never serviced the evaporator coils which must have been funky as hell or spray down the condensor coils on the outside unit. When I became a homeowner, HVAC wouldn't cool. I'd call an HVAC company and everyone would always say I had a leak and try to sell me a new HVAC.
Decided I wanted to learn about HVAC, so I bought
https://www.amazon.com/Refrigeration-Conditioning-Technology-MindTap-Course/dp/0357122275
Unit 8, Pg 182 "All Systems Leak. The leak could be 1 pound per second or as low as 1 oz every 10 years. "
Yes, insulation, sealing and attic ventilation will help. But you have to remember to properly maintain your HVAC system.
I had mined installed by u/HTXdashcams. Great guy and super careful with my new car. He can install only or sell you the cam and install. I had already bought my cam before I found him but it would have been a bit cheaper to buy direct from him if I had that option.
THIS is the one I use. It is hardwired to the car's fuse box and battery.
So they say. The only thing I've found that truly works is DEET. The higher the percentage, the longer it lasts. 98.25% DEET is my go to.
A financial advisor isn't going to give you the discipline that you need to pay off your debt. They will also not manage your money for you in that way. They will, for the most part, invest your money for you and develop a reasonable financial plan.
In my opinion, you need to read The Total Money Makeover, and listen to Dave Ramsey. Then you need to develop a budget, and stick to it. Then you need to be an adult about making smarter financial decisions. That's really it. It's not magical, and it's just like weight loss....there is no magic pill. Spend less than you make and put the balance towards your debts. Stop buying things you don't need. Hard Stop.
It’s still a terrible idea.
Dont turn your flashers on in the rain

Install the free Skymap app on your android phone, and there are some excellent similar apps for ios.
They use your phone's GPS and MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) gyroscope to know your phone's exact position.
So as you move your phone around the sky, you'll see the stars and planets and you can then figure out which bright object is what.
It is pretty amazing technology.
This is the one I'm currently using, and it's a decent unit for the cost. Pretty easy to set up and it uses wifi to connect to Weather Underground. $169.99 is the current price.
You can get cheaper weather stations, and you can spend a WHOLE lot more for much fancier weather stations.
Oh, by the way, the screen capture is actually from the Weather Underground's web site. It's the data from my weather station, but it's graphically presented by the Weather Underground's web site.
Lawyer here. I've been handling car accident cases for 12+ years. I'm coming up on 2,000 separate cases handled, and while I've seen a lot of different ways you can crash a vehicle I haven't seen them all.
PLEASE BUY A DASH CAM, THEY ARE INVALUABLE IF YOU ARE IN AN ACCIDENT, EVEN A MINOR ONE.
Insurance companies make money collecting premiums and lose money paying claims. They do not like to lose money/pay claims. They frequently make liability decisions based on their insured's version or their own, uh, "investigation." Even if you're not hurt you can waste hours of your time on the vehicle damage claim and your premiums may increase if you have to file with your own carrier.
A perfectly good dash cam is $50, many are cheaper and work fine.
I overspent and bought a $100 Rexing V1 on Amazon. It is great. https://www.amazon.com/Rexing-Dashboard-Recorder-G-Sensor-Recording/dp/B00X528FNE
Be safe out there.
I guess that's why Donald McDougall was beaten to death in prison then. He abused and killed his girlfriend's daughter down in Florida and his case became the basis for the book "Death From Child Abuse, and Nobody Heard" which is widely used in domestic violence courses and law enforcement as a teaching tool. McDougall was coming up for parole and his fellow prisoners heard it on the news, he was found beaten to death the next day.
I get 98% of mine from the internet from places such as Amazon or Newegg.
Directron is nice but unless you live over by there, it is a pain in the butt and the shipping is not worth it. Frys has been steadily going downhill for years. MicroCenter has frequently has great prices on computer hardware though.
My last trip out to Terlingua/Big Bend, I decided to plan ahead instead of having nothing to listen to south of Ft. Stockton. No radio, no cell data, nothing. A buddy of mine is always listening to books via Bluetooth ear buds connected to his phone, so I asked where/how he downloads them.
Harris County Public Library! (I realize OP's post is about the city library, but this is closely related.)
Turns out you can install the OverDrive app for free and check out audiobooks for free.
I listened to books all the way out to Terlingua and all the way back. Oddly, an audiobook seems less distracting than music, and it's easy to pause and re-start, go chapter-to-chapter, etc.
Pretty neat service for free.
6" gauge overflowed in my back yard, here near W. Gulf Bank and Hollister. A few gauges on the WU map showing more than 7" overnight. (If you visit the map, you may need to check the "Weather Stations" tick box on the right and move the map to your area.)
I was just glad we were spared a lot of lightning/thunder. I slept through most of the rain.
Back yard is a swamp but the street is clear. I'll get to work just fine. (Sigh.)
Will go by White Oak Bayou on the way. I bet it's impressive.
I'd buy one, what's the company and how do we know if the profits are actually going to relief efforts
edit:I think OP has been shadowbanned, if you click his comment history he has responded with this link: https://teespring.com/beat-harvey#pid=2&cid=2397&sid=front
I still have no idea how legit the company is or anyway of knowing if the procedes will really fgo to relief efforts or not.
honsetly, I'd by the shirt anyway because it is badass but, I will not give the company a cent if they are using relief as a marketing ploy.
Edit2: I found this statement from the company http://answers.teespring.com/customer/portal/articles/1710984-get-your-fundraiser-verified
It seems like teesprings is a legitimate company and the page has a seal suggesting that proceeds do go to the American Red Cross of Central Texas, but costumer reviews suggest that the quality control is inconsistent. I think I might give it a try anyways but I'm going to do a little more digging first.
For Android there's an app called skimmer scanner that scans for known Bluetooth card skimmers. I've used it a few times and never found one but it's a good precautionary measure to take.
For iPhone you can open up your Bluetooth settings and search for available devices and look for any device with the name HC-05.

You know, Miss Nail (or may I call you Peggys?), I used to feel the same way. Then I took a couple of Art History classes and went through an intense training on teaching art appreciation to children. I ended up as a parent volunteer teaching that art curriculum to kids from Pre-K through 8th grade as one of my children went through it at school. Now I can pass the "Toddler Art or Modern Art" quiz on Sporcle with ease. There IS a difference. I am just a normal person, not an artist.
That said, some of this newer stuff does seem pretentious or even silly. We don't know about pretentious or silly works from the past, though, because they didn't survive. Unfortunately now anyone can publish anything. We must rely on our own informed judgement. I highly recommend the book "Why is a Painting like a Pizza? A Guide to Appreciating Modern Art" for help with analyzing and criticizing the art you're viewing. It may change your mind!

I honestly don't know what to say. You anecdotal story is yours. I can't change that, but this shows that even in the 90th percentile the low is more than 55 degrees. Average low is 62.

October 1993 was the last time Houston recorded freezing temperatures in October. The next nearest dip was a 40 degree drop in 2008. So unless you're living in Huntsville and claiming Houston the data doesn't match up.

She is attacking his intellect -- if his argument was a good one, he would have followed it. That's not an attack on character or appeal to prejudice.
Berkman's appeal is to prejudice and is not a logical one. His logic is that all that's stopping people from harming kids is municipal bathroom laws. He's also arguing FOR a law that keeps trans men in women's restrooms and trans women in mens' rooms. It's ridiculous.

Storm is currently 100% stationary

> The new NHC track has been adjusted a little to the left, following the latest trend in the guidance, and lies near or a little to the left of the latest multi-model consensus aids. Given the nature of the circulation and the fact that wind and rain hazards extend well north and east of the center, users are encouraged not to focus on the details of the track forecast.
TLDR: The heaviest rain is far to the NE of the storm. A drastic change would be required for us to get 10"+. We'll likely receive 2-4" of rain based on current trends.
Here is a flood map if a cat 5 hit Galveston bay (at high tide). You would see severe flooding all around the bay - then you get to deal with cat 5 winds that would "...when you get up into winds in excess of 155 mph (249 km/h) you have enough damage if that extreme wind sustains itself for as much as six seconds on a building it's going to cause rupturing damages that are serious no matter how well it's engineered." - dude who made the categories.
I'll point out that in this situation the Galveston sea wall would be underwater by five feet or so. Usually barrier islands under these conditions will have a series of channels cut through them so if you were on the west end and survived the storm surge and wind it would probably take months to get services back. Here is a picture of Dauphin island after Katrina and it shows rollover and the channels. Note the stilts without houses.
I'll also say that the horror story situation would be a cat five hitting when the addicts and barker resivoirs are full. Like an Allison style storm hitting now then a late August slow moving cat five.
Latest from Sugar Land
"The levee gates are closed, and levee operators are using pumps to remove rainfall that falls within the levees. The National Weather Service is forecasting rain amounts that may exceed the capacity of the pumps. Should this occur, the drainage channels and storage areas will fill up, storm drains will back up, and streets will flood, essentially holding water as they’re designed to do during extreme conditions. The duration and intensity of rainfall will determine the impact for communities within the levees."
A bucket, Optimum No Rinse in two gallons of water, and a bunch of microfiber towels to apply and dry. I’ve been doing this for over two years and my paint still looks new. Most pros will want to use their parts because they can warranty those parts. There is less risk on labor when they do this. What you really want is someone who knows a thing or two about DC current and isn't color blind. You would do better finding someone for this by posting in /r/houstonclassifieds . I think $40 a few cold ones and a ham sandwich would be fair.
If we do lose power in Houston from this storm I would think it would be a matter of hours, not days etc. It won't help tonight, but I feel a little better about the prospect of losing power in summer after getting a couple of battery powered fans (we got some of these). They had lots of good reviews about battery life and they do move a decent bit of air around on high.
I feel so much for people in the path of the storm rn. It's almost a Cat 5 now.

Or of course, have a handheld radio that can use the regular frequencies.
Get one of these for $20 on Amazon and this app from Google Play (probably an apple version available too) and you're good to go.

I have volunteered with The Mission Continues who has partnered with Greater East End on a lot of projects. Including changing dumping ground to public spaces. There was a lot of dumping going on at Terminal street and Navigation along the rail road tracks. TMC and GEE went out there removed the trash, debris, mowed/trimmed the area (it had TALL grass and weeds galore) then installed park benches and planted trees to make it more of a park then a dumping ground.
Contact them they can definitely help.

The actual script isn't on android, but my home desktop - Google, if you have an account with them, has a website that lets you geolocate your phone, force it to ring while silenced, place lock screen messages on the screen (I usually did vaguely threatening ones and requests to turn it in to the buildings they were near), and to erase all data. I just wrote a script in Auto Hotkey to refresh my screen and look for text in very specific locations or click buttons in very specific locations. It's really poorly written and probably wouldn't work with any screen that wasn't exactly mine, but I'll see about writing something more generalized that people could use. No promises though!
The truth is, no one has the ability to accurately predict oil prices. So I would take anyone's prediction, especially those with a vested interest with a huge grain of salt. That said, the world is growing and despite the current economic slump, it should bounce back and when it does demand will rise with prices. To what degree, no one knows. But we still love to predict even though our ability to do so is mediocre at best.
T. Boone Pickens in 2014: Oil price will rebound to $100 a barrel in the next 12 to 18 months.
I've found a ton of cute properties on AirBnB in the past. Here are places that sleep 3 in Wimberley for under $400 a night for starters.
Try code ANDROID50. 50% off your next 5 rides (max $15 per ride) if you use Android Pay as your payment method. It was expired, but the most recent comments say its working again. In order to see Android Pay as an option, you need to already have a CC added to Android Pay app, then restart the Uber app to see the new payment method. https://slickdeals.net/f/9518924-uber-50-off-up-to-15-per-ride-next-5-rides-through-12-31-16-with-android-pay
Holy crap, this is the cheapest I've seen it, it's $30 right now at this Amazon link. I bought it in January for almost $60.
Here's footage I uploaded to Youtube. It also has very good night video and visibility if you have good headlights. It does both regular and widescreen format, it can record with or without sound. Biggest drawback I've heard some people complain about is that the lens has a silver ring around it which makes it easy to spot, but I don't really care about being stealthy with it. I may buy a second one for my back window.
I ordered the Spy Tec G1W-CB for both my cars back in May, they're both working perfectly after sitting out in the heat all summer. I also got the rear-view mirror mount (attaches to the rear-view mirror arm instead of using a suction cup, it fits my 2010 Nissan Versa but not my 2013 Dodge Journey) and the hard-wire kit (I wired it into my 12V outlet fuse using a fuse tap so it comes on when I start the car but doesn't take up an outlet, it wasn't too hard to do myself). I'd recommend buying directly from Spy Tec instead of going to Amazon to ensure you don't get a fake.
On Android you can use the Skimmer Scanner app
For iPhone, if you can't find an app then (don't have an iPhone so wouldn't know), search for Bluetooth devices and look for any with the name HC-05. That's from the dev of the Android app that reverse engineered a few skimmers. More technical info here: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/gas-pump-skimmers/all
Yeah. Ideas are cheap. 100 pages of background/worldbuilding/whatever is useless if you can't put it into a narrative. It's paper with ink on it. That's all.
Your 50/50 split isn't a good deal for the person writing. No writer worth their salt will agree to this. They can write their own stuff. They don't need you.
You're not looking for a partner; you're looking for a ghostwriter.
If you're serious about this, what you're going to have to end up doing is hiring someone else to write this. If you can find someone that will actually sign on to this project, you'll probably be paying several cents per word. At the lowest end that's .02 and at the high end that's .10.
Novels start at 52,000 words so you're looking at $1,000-5,000 for a short novel.
You're probably better off learning to write. See "On Writing" and "Bird by Bird" if you have questions about the writing process.
Good luck!
The T-Mobile service around NRG region is pretty awful. If I am on the phone, my data is gone (service immediately dropped from LTE to Edge 2G signal, so I can't do voice and web browsing at the same time on my Nexus 5)
If you have Android, you can download the LTE Discovery app. On my Nexus 5, I only get Band 4, which is pretty pissy poor in signal strength. Maybe an upgrade to a phone with Band 12 will help (If I have money I will do just that).

Doesn't give them a ticket, but a simple reminder that someone noticed you toss that Whataburger bag on I-10 can do a lot.
Best of luck! A friend of mine (and former Houstonian) is a fairly successful app developer, and wrote a really good article about it.

I get no kickbacks/benefits from posting this link, I just feel that it's good insight.
For right now I am using IFTTT, they have ecobee applets too, https://ifttt.com/griddy. You can either set an action at a certain price per kw (wholesale, doesnt include the 3.7 cent charge from CenterPoint) or have it respond to a spike. Griddy determines what a spike is. Which seems to be a significant increase in the normal price for that period of time. As the one person that replied put very well, those don't usually last long.
I use the applet that does an action if the price per kw is reached. For right now I have it set to 6 cents. Otherwise I let me Nest optimize my house as needed in the eco range, which is slightly warm but comfortable. You can get really granular if you want to run multiple applets. To do that just click the new applet button and set your Griddy If with the Then action.

If you're willing to drive. Make the trip down to Hunstville and visit the Hunstville state park.
You can swim, hike, trail, bike ride, bring a dog (but they can't get in the water), and oh yeah, they do canoe rentals.
It's $10 an hour for canoe rentals which is ridiculously cheap.
You may find your kids enjoy it a lot more than Buffalo Bayou
Look into AirBNB. Last I've seen is that they are waiving fees for people who are being displaced because of Hurricane Harvey August 23 to Sept. 1
Technically, the Browns franchise was "suspended" and the Ravens were an expansion franchise.
I think that happened because, for one, the Browns move was relatively sudden, and fans were irate. In Houston, fans had heard Bud Adams threaten to leave for years. When it was finally official, the reaction here was, "Just go, already."
Next, Browns owner Art Modell was in a different situation than Adams. One, the Browns name had meaning to the city, not just to Modell. The team began play in 1946 in the All American Football Conference, then joined the NFL. They had been champions before Modell bought the franchise in 1961. Then Modell was in financial trouble and needed to move, in a bit of a hurry. That gave the city some leverage that Houston didn't have. Adams timed his move and didn't have to leave the Oilers name behind. Plus, he had picked the name when the team was founded in 1960. He wanted to keep it.
I don't think there will ever be another Oilers pro football team in Houston. But I could see a future Titans owner sending the Oilers memorabilia, trophies, etc. back to Houston as a symbolic gesture, once the team is no longer owned by the Adams family. It's been suggested.
In the meantime, Texans ownership keeps ties to former Oiler players, and some have reciprocated. When Earl Campbell was inducted into the Titans Hall of Fame, he declined to attend, saying, "I was a Houston Oiler, not a Tennessee Titan".
This is one of my personal favorite rides to take on my motorcycle.
Not that curvy in most places but still a nice cruise.
It's not like you're arrested if you don't evacuate. It's really more of a strong warning to residents who stay that they absolutely will not get any emergency help for a period of time (can be 3 or more days). So if you're about to drown in your attic, too bad since you made your choice and nobody is going to go on a suicidal mission to try to save you in a cat 4 storm.
It doesn't actually impact your freedom at all. It's just one extra way of prodding people to get out of harm's way and save lives. The vast majority of people in a mandatory evacuation zone have no experience or minimal experience with a storm of the magnitude that would lead to that order being issued and the great majority of people who die in hurricanes could have lived if they had evacuated (most die from drowning in storm surge).
Start here to get open positions w/ salaries. http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=autocad+drafter&l=Houston%2C+TX Looks like 40-60K should be a good starting point since you don't have any experience in the states.
Both locations have Krav Maga Houston have Groupons now. Here's the one for the central location: https://www.groupon.com/deals/krav-maga-houston-central-campus?p=7
If you ask the owner when signing up, you can apply for discounts (military, student, teacher, etc.) so you're paying a good deal less than $200. Long term plans are also cheaper than month to month.
Im surprised you were able to find out all that about me from a post on reddit. But to answer your question, as you see in this article Computer Science is on the rise. Hopefully it will make its way to primary schools. But lets take UT as an example, I myself am not a part of their Comp Sci program, but being part of the programming community here in Houston. I run into alot of Comp Sci students from UT, of course its a wonderful program. But it seems the majority of them have a cut-throat type mentality. Austin being the home of the Dell and Apple campuses here in Texas its expected to have a cut-throat mentality since there is so much competition in that city. So where does that bring me?
Here at the Comp Sci department at UH we encourage others to help others. Since Houston being more of an oil city, our cut-throat department would have to be the School of Business(Bauer). I cant say the same about cities like Austin and Palo Alto. I guess I threw in TAMU just because. If anything, theyre more agriculture type school.
So anyways, back to why I posted my comment. OP asked about UH, so I answered it using my opinion. I cant definitely say that our Comp Sci program is better than any of the schools I listed. But I can say our Department is amazing and if you are an aspiring programmer then our Comp Sci program will give you the support you need. Fellow students arent out to set you up to fail to put themselves in a better position to succeed.
As for me being angry... I have to disagree with you. I'm fairly chill, you seem to be the angry one with all of your asinine comments. But then again, I know youre just a troll.
To my final point. Lets not forget this is a post about a college. Of course you are going to get redditors like myself who will come in here and spew out school pride.
I just did this trail yesterday! It was beautiful and very refreshing change of scenery from the city / concrete jungle. We did the Lone Star Hiking Trail and Little Lake Creek Trail which took us about 6 hours (14 miles).
Some tips:
TICKS, lots of them. I found several on my dog and still paranoid I missed some, since they're tiny and difficult to find. Definitely wear long sleeves and a hat to protect your head. Cover your legs, not just for the ticks, but also because much of the trail is overgrown with spiky weeds. My boyfriend, who swears by his shorts, got his ankles torn up.
Definitely wear bright colors. We heard many gunshots.
Hope your good at navigating, because the trail markings weren't always clear. My spatial orientation is terrible and I definitely would have gotten lost (despite having studied the map) if it weren't for smarter people in our group.
If you have any questions, lemme know!
The previous tenant of my place left up these door reinforcements. I feel pretty safe with them on the exterior doors. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PLXY3M2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_MB1S8GM7XF3TVZDZ1KBX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Well, some free advice that you can take or leave - you spent entirely too much money on that router. I mean, there's overspending and then there's overspending. You overspent big time. You paid for that router what equipment from Ruckus costs.
You will recieve exactly zero benefit from 802.11ad, considering you have no devices which can use this speed, your internet provider will not come close to maxing out AC in the next 10 years, along with the fact that your average x265 compressed 4K stream is about 12 mbps. You might, maybe possibly find one that is 100 mbit. Regardless, you have no need whatsoever for 802.11ad.
As far as your wifi coverage, all you need is a decent 3x3 router with normal antennas. Funky plastic desinged to look like a stealth bomber does nothing for your wifi. The following router/access point is $90 bucks at Microcenter, amazon, or newegg
http://www.microcenter.com/product/414584/ARCHER_C7_Wireless_AC1750_Dual_Band_Gigabit_Router
If you need you can even buy two for less than half of what you did pay. It is what I use at home, they work well.
You could also explore Ubiquiti AC-Pro access point models, but it does seem like you need a router. But, again, you can buy three of these for less than one access point you did buy, and they will cover every square inch of your house.

Lastly, your offer of $20 bucks an hour is low. Good IT is $100/hour on the low end. But, your suggestion of $150 is a fair price for someone to come and do this job right for you.
In the future, I highly recommend getting a portable air compressor pump (assuming you don't have monster truck tires): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L9WSTEG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_kipBFbZDBQA8C
This particular model is really solid and has saved me so much frustration with finding the right kind of pump. Is there a pressure gauge on the pump? Is it working or not today? I've never seen a digital pressure reading on any gasoline station pumps, but I also haven't used one in a few years either.
Just hooks up to your "cigarette lighter" adapter or an outlet. Set the pressure you want it at, then it stops at that pressure. Takes about a minute or two at most for each 16-17 inch tire to go from 20-30 psi.
The other day I was pumping gas at the Chevron in Midtown across from the Randalls. I went inside to purchase a drink, both my Bank of America and TDECU credit cards were declined, even though my BofA CC was working at the pump. Something about the attendant's demeanor and him pressing me to use a debit card threw me off and I decided to not use it and walk away from the purchase. As I was walking out, I got an alert on my phone from the BofA app telling me the transaction was declined due to high fraud at that location. Also that's not the first time I've had issues with transactions at that store.
Edit: I should add, try pulling and wiggling the credit card receiver/scanner thingy at pumps and atms. If it's not secure, it might have a scanner over it. If you have android, try out the skimmer scanner app which scans for Bluetooth CC Skimmers (this doesn't cover all, but those that use the same BT chip). If you don't have android, open your phone's bluetooth settings and scan for devices, if you find one names HC-05, there's most likely a skimmer around. Dev's write up here: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/gas-pump-skimmers
I bought one of these (you do need a tub). Seemed like a good investment. https://www.amazon.com/WaterBOB-Emergency-Container-Drinking-Hurricane/dp/B001AXLUX2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1536781041&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=water+bob&psc=1
Get the Waze app on your smartphone. Everyone that uses that app is sending data about their drive, so Waze determines your best route based on that. Reports sent in by Wazers are logged almost instantly, compared to the slow updates of FM traffic receivers like Garmin or TomTom. I think Waze also uses info from Transtar, but I could be wrong.
Waze will show you the three best routes, along with estimated time each would take at the time you're checking.
Bonus: Waze also reports speed traps, because users can report when they see police working radar.
It's free and it works pretty well. Google bought it, so Google Traffic and Waze are pretty much the same, except you won't see speed trap reports on Google Maps.
