Thank you for doing this :-)
1 - Name of app/website/startup?
2 - One sentence description on what problem your startup solves?
We help people find great movies to watch quickly and efficiently.
3 - How do users currently solve that problem?
They make due with default UI's of Netflix / Amazon / iTunes etc.
They use websites such as IMDb, iCheckMovies, or google trying to find something.
They ask other people for suggestions.
4 - Name of the top competitor? (try not to leave this answer empty)
IMDb, iCheckMovies and similar.
5 - How does it make money? (e.g. subscriptions)
Currently it doesn't except for donations/patreon and affiliate amazon/itunes links. We might introduce non-invasive ads in the future. Ethical aggregated data monetization is another possibility. User privacy will always be most important so selling data that identifies a user is out of the question.
6 - Who is the target user? (e.g. 18-22 year old college students that need tutoring help)
People who watch moderate to high amount of movies and have already seen most of the well known films.
7 - What is your monthly users + revenue?
Around 20k monthly users, currently we're in the process of light growth to validate our product market fit. We have no revenue except for a few donations and affiliate clicks (we don't push it so it's a minor amount).
8 - What is your role?
Co-founder, designer, front end dev, growth & retention.
9 - Size of team? Is anyone remote?
Two people working full time, one person helping a bit with social media presence. Basically two people for now. The person who helps a bit is remote.
The Fifth Element is a really good movie, and maybe it only isn't dystopian :)
I also remembered The Island, it is a nice movie.
The Conjuring is a good horror movie, and you will get spooked.
Mama is a good "spook" movie, but I don't know why it didn't have good movie affect on me.
Insidious is psychological thriller and horror movie.
House Of Flying Daggers is a Drama/Romance/Action movie.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is also a great movie.
I watched sphere as a kid, Sphere and I still think it is a good movie. It haves some elements of horror, but I wouldn't say it is that scary.
On the other hand Pandorum is a horror, but it haves some elements of unknowable cosmic force.
I forgot about a Spielberg movie Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. It is not a horror but still cool movie.
Perhaps Gomorrah, Eastern Promises, The Drop?
The Drop is amazing btw.
Seven is an excellent movie but I watched The Prestige and I can't remember any movie that has better "scene flow". Also The Game is a really good movie.
Literally exactly what you described here at http://movieo.me/ Mentioned by the creators here: https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/2l2w4l/we_created_a_place_for_browsing_and_discovering/ Thanks for asking the question as I'd forgotten about this completely!
The Talented Mr Ripley really good movie.
Leverage is a good series, even though is more of a Robin Hood kind of style, then con.
I have also remembered two Jeff Nichols movies Take Shelter and Shotgun Stories. I had one more but I forgot the name.
Baumbachs Frances Ha, also really intelligent comedy and a drama.
One of the favourite intelligent comedies that I have watched is definitely A Serious Man.
There Will Be Blood haves nice cinematography and it is a good drama.
Just watched Gattaca yesterday! It was pretty damn good.
Some more:
The Imitation Game - DUDE works really hard trying to break the nazi encrypted code
The Wind Rises - DUDE works really hard making warplanes
The Pursuit of Happyness - DUDE works really hard at making something of himself while supporting his kid.
I really liked the The 13th Warrior, even though some critics / people don't like it.
"The 13th Warrior currently holds a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes which sums it up as "Atmospheric, great sets and costumes, but thin plot."" source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_13th_Warrior
Wild. A woman with a tragic past decides to start her new life by hiking for one thousand miles on the Pacific Crest Trail.
It's quite soothing :-)

I've watched almost 500 since i started getting an interest in movies like 4 years ago.I did not include short films or any of the movies i saw on tv over the years. And here's my list: http://movieo.me/lists/djhlk?grid=grid_movie&rate_by=imdb_top
I wanted to recommend The Running Man since I can't remember any other movies with similar plot, but The Running man isn't a movie that can describe or even project what Pollock meant in They Shoot Horses Don't They?. I also can't compare Jane Fonda playing cynical Gloria, with Arnold, but I remembered that movie because of the ruthlessness between contestants.
Have you watched The Scalphunters it is also a good movie that Pollack directed.
I'm not sure, but I think some Bruce Lee movies are free style combat.
Like Fists Of Bruce Lee
I don't know why, but I first thought of Yamakasi, even though they are not as free style as you want, it is a good movie.
For 1920x1080 I wouldn't go beyond 450kb.
Acceptable quality levels also depend on whether there's some kind of overlay above the image. For example in this case the image has to be higher quality, but in this other case lower quality is acceptable since imperfections are muted by the overlay.
A moment to remember. I cried for the last 30 minutes. Don't watch the trailer or read anything about it.
Interestingly, Interstellar made me cry during my second viewing. First time I wasn't even close to crying but the second time got me pretty bad :|
I started a few months ago because i was curious to see the progress i made in the 4 years since getting a real interest into movies. So i made a list with the movies i saw in the last 4-5 years and i didn't include short films or anything that i saw on tv.Most of the movies i saw in this period were movies that i never forgot seeing. There were just a few I almost left out, because of how forgettable they were. For my list i used a simple website called http://movieo.me .And here is my list: http://movieo.me/lists/djhlk?grid=grid_movie&rate_by=imdb_top
House Of Flying Daggers is a good movie.
Kill Bill Vol 1 and Vol 2 are excellent martial art movies.
Sure :)
I watched Elysium, also from Blomkamp, but the movie isn't that good as District 9. Chappie, on the other hand (also a Blomkamp movie) is a really good Action/Comedy/Sci-Fi.
I expected that Elysium is going to be a really good movie but somehow, maybe because of Matt Damon :), didn't meet my expectations.
If I'm not listening to music, I can watch pretty much anything while working. I found out the best stuff to have as background noise is some kind of reality show (masterchef or similar).
The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy is a good movie to watch in background.
The-Art-Of War ok movie with Wesley Snipes
The Fugitive old but good with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones
Predestination - One of the best scifi flicks in last couple of years imho. Intelligent too.
Sunshine - Similar to interstellar, amazing soundtrack.
Mr. Nobody - It's weird.
Children Who Chase Lost Voices, The Place Promised in Our Early Days.
Also anything from Hayao Miyazaki
This site might be of use to you. You can filter movies by country and see imdb/rotten tomatoes/metacritic scores. (btw shameless plug, I'm the one who designed it :)
