Am besten schauste mal bei den Firmwares nach was die an Hardware unterstützen...
Ich denke LineageOS und OmniROM sind wohl so die bekanntesten und am besten unterstützten:
I've rocked OmniROM and microG for about two and a half years now. It takes a bit more tinkering than Lineage with microG built in, but it works just as good.
I don't know if it's better, faster, etc. But it's surely more convenient with Lineage, if you don't feel like installing/setting things up manually.
What kind of phone do you have (brand, model)? Not all CyanogenMod/LineageOS builds works the same.
It sounds to me like a wake-issue, where the CPU is kept in a high wake state for too long. Or perhaps your Doze settings aren't tuned properly for the specific phone.
Also, I've been using OmniROM for a couple of years now, and I'm really satisfied as I'm a bit of a tinfoilhat myself.
Not dead. Probably about as active as Lineage with fewer devices supported. Compare https://omnirom.org/#blog to https://lineageos.org/blog/
They do run a stock vendor partition. (Must flash stock if previously on lineage)
Basically aosp + some omni extras. Stock camera avail in the omni store. Not as "free software" focused. A very usable ROM without gapps.
All LineageOS for MicroG builds are paused because Lineage 16 is no longer being maintained. The project is apparently not dead, but they are waiting for upstream MicroG to fix some issues (notably, Unified NLP not working) before resuming builds. You might want to consider OmniROM, which has a MicroG build for your device: https://omnirom.org/#devices
Note that the Omni OTA updater has issues with updating the MicroG builds, so if you use this ROM, install updates manually.
I think maybe it is a feedback loop. It is popular because it is popular. Personally, I have a xiaomi 9t pro. I doesn't have official lineageOS either, but it has official omniROM, among many other. I have used lineageOS, omniROM, and crDroid, and they are all pretty much the same. Lurk some in the xda forum for your phone. Most xiaomi phones has a pretty healthy rom community.

It looks like omnirom has full support. Press release:

I hope to have time to install it on our find7a this weekend. If it works well I'll be buying another one immediately.
Actually it says: "Also if using TWRP, use Goo Manager app to update to v2.6.3.3 or higher."
Referring to the SELinux bits I was talking about earlier.
Also, Twrp is the official recovery for Omnirom and part of the Omnirom build tree.
In fact, looking at the Omnirom contributors you'll see Dees_Troy (https://omnirom.org/contributors/) who is the lead Twrp developer.
