Just for an alternative to look into, I use Out Of Milk--it's an app and you can access it online as well. It can also track sales for you at certain stores, coupons, etc. It's pretty low maintenance; I can do as much or as little as I want.
While shopping, I enter the price of the item before checking it off the list, and it shows a total price of items in your cart.
Something that's also nice about it is you can share lists with other people. My ex and I used to have a shared grocery list that we could reference if either of us was shopping.
