You know Firefox uses less RAM when you have a large amount of tabs open. Also you should look into pcxfirefox https://code.google.com/p/pcxfirefox/ which is coded to help speed up Firefox for windows and javascript.
For Firefox users there are other builds that can help performance. First being Waterfox http://waterfoxproject.org/ which is the 64bit optimized version.
The other which I just recently switched to is a Windows build optimized for newer hardware pcxfirefox https://code.google.com/p/pcxfirefox/ which has a very noticeable improvement on javascript.
They help because the main build is designed to be more compatible with multiple OS's.
