The site had been torn apart already prior to whatever they do now (pretty sure I know). It was a Uscreen site. Uscreen, not Ustream. Uscreen is an all-in-one service provider for video media, specializing in Subscription Video on Demand. They provide everything, pre-packaged and ready to deploy. They use Plyr as a media player front-end but have their own media hosting solution and Content Management System (in which feeds video media to all services they provide the client, e.g. website and mobile app). They also have built-in integration with Vimeo. So long as you have a paid Vimeo account, Uscreen CMS can be linked to said Vimeo account, and it will forward all video content to the Uscreen CMS to make those videos available all the same. However, Uscreen will not store any video content hosted via Vimeo.
If you have ever played with Wordpress, then you get the gist of Uscreen. So far as "setup" is concerned. The user just clicks a few things, does some surface-level customization, types in some what-have-you, and click save. Ta-friggin-da...SVoD site. Speaking of, they switched to Django CMS. Which is a free. So they're likely running Divio...free. The SSL provider is Let's Encrypt...also free.
The web host was the Swiss* equivalent to GoDaddy; HostPoint (cheap). It is now Atlantic Metro (kind of notorious for..."adult"...websites). HostPoint remains the DNS host. All information gathered via publicly accessible records.

After looking around a bit, this cloneable template from Udesly is likely to be your best low-code solution, although it appears to require a subscription starting at $50 per year.
If you're more familiar with code, Plyr seems to be a deeply customizable option that would be able to accomplish this relatively easily. They have some easy to follow documentation on their GitHub page.
Thank you for that! I don't re-encode the VODs that I record, they're posted as-is.
Some of the older VOD dumps that were shared by other redditors in this sub were in MKV containers. I'm re-encoding those to mp4 so the video can be streamed to a js video player.
It's a long-term goal to add a js video player and a nice UI so the MP4 is preparation for that. Later on I'll also be re-encoding alternate copies of each VOD in lower resolutions and possibly webm for mobile, so I can enable a dropdown menu for the much-needed 160p, 360p, 720p, etc. resolutions.
Here's some stats https://neocities.org/site/futureporn/stats?days=30
Take a look at the webflow university video on grid layouts. Might not be best practice for this but it’s good to know either way.
Not sure if you can remove those from YouTube embeds but I know you can remove the title and play button on Vimeo embeds if you have a paid account. I recently used plyr for my videos so I could customize the interface to my liking. They have a pretty solid tutorial that you can just follow step by step
+1 for native. You can use the API to load one "player" then swap sources from a playlist on click. If you really want a plugin, Plyr and Mediaelement are both pretty good.
I think I'll search Codepen for more examples to learn from. I eventually want to also load images and embed a video using https://plyr.io/ ... not sure how I'll do it yet. I've seen something like template: `html code` before... still learning.
