Puddletag. Motherfucking puddletag. I've never found a more powerful tagging program for linux. It's heavily designed to be like the program "mp3tag" in windows, which was one of the few programs I'd actually run in wine because I couldn't find an equivalent in Linux..Until Puddletag. I've been using the hell out of puddletag over the past few days, and once you understand the interface, it's hella powerful.
I'm the same, i feel your OCD pain.
I like all my music named as so: Aritstname (Albumtitle) # - Tracktitle
Personally, i still use MP3tag (via Wine) but Puddletag is a great native (unofficial) Port with the same functionality.
It can also do the file renaming and a LOT more.
I've tried other tagging programs on Linux, but none come close to MP3tag/Puddletag for my needs.
I tried using EasyTag on search for a cross platform mp3 tagger. I saw the depth of functionality but find it hard to using it in contrast to puddletag especially the auto-numbering tool. It doesn't have a MusicBrainz tagging though.
Also I completely agree with chris point about special utility programs on linux in comparison to the situation on other OSs.
I usually go to AlternativeTo site and try all until I found something I like.

Puddletag is good as a tag editor http://puddletag.sourceforge.net/
I do like Clementine. From this list and other suggestions. You should find something you like.
Looks like Jellicent answer your question. I just read an article in the Linux Voice magazine about a new application call Puddletag(a music file tag editor.

Something to explore in the future.
On linux I use puddletag for music http://puddletag.sourceforge.net/
Sheetmaker for movies & tv http://bunyipawonga.org/sheetmaker/index.php
Also tried MediaElch before. http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=136333
(Like others pointed out) that's very nice of you. :) I've been using Deluge as a replacement for uTorrent and it worked out pretty well. I missed Mp3tag for a while but then I found puddletag that aims to be an alternative to Mp3tag. You should try it!
