anyone from the Rem community using the tool before this update will have grandfathered access to all previous features! For the full breakdown of all features you can see the update log :)
Thanks for reaching out. We should be able to find these Rem -
1) Did you create the Rem on the same device where you're looking for them now?
2) If you search for them with Ctrl + P, do they appear?
3) Do you see them at https://www.remnote.io/trash?
4) Is there a chance that you accidentally "toggled" the information closed?
5) Do you see them if you log out, and then back in?
There are excellent answers here, but I just want to add that RemNote breaks this duality between notes vs. flashcards. I have been using it for two months and it is a great tool because it creates flashcards from your notes effortlessly and in an organized way.
I still think that, in some situations, it's better not to know the context of a flashcard - that's why I still use Anki. However, for my current learning goals, RemNote is my main software.
One way I've done this is typing shift+enter to create a break line without creating a new rem/bullet point, and then manually typing a "-" for the visual of a bullet point. That way I can have multiple clozes on one card with multiple lines. See example here: https://www.remnote.io/a/cloze-flashcard-with-multiple-break-lines-using-shift-enter/6145f34c8fe283003474b809
Thanks for sharing your thoughts - this is very reasonable. We're focusing heavily on stability currently, and many issues should have been resolved in the most recent October 26th update.
We're continuing to invest in stability and polish. Additionally, if it gives you peace of mind you can download full raw data backups from https://www.remnote.io/export.

I would enable the syntax RemNote does: if you write a word or sentence and a certain combination of symbols (RemNote uses ":" or "::") between this word and what follows a card is created. Then in the settings you can choose your repetition interval and the repetition dates are computed, based on the creation date of the card.
Finally, during the actual repetition process, you should be able to:
I also discovered Mochi which implements this process with a great UX.
I used to have my notes the way you have started, but I streamline it more now. If you make a card, it will show the parents anyway. So:
Document Name: Fruits
Parent: Apple
- is ;; edible fruit grown on an apple tree
- components;;;
- core
- skin
- pulp
Now you'll have core, skin & pulp for other fruits too.. So it is up to you to decide whether you perhaps want a new parent called "Fruit components". Then when at the apple components, you'd do this instead...
Parent: Apple
- is ;; edible fruit grown on an apple tree
- components;;;
- [[Core]] (linked from Fruit components parent)
- [[Skin]]
- [[Pulp]]
Parent: Fruit Components
Core
Skin
Pulp
Here are some notes I took last night as an example. It may work for you, it may not. I've moved away from "concept" cards for most things, but that is because I like headings & for my notes to look somewhat aesthetic.
Thanks for the breakdown of changes It's timely that I'm revisiting RemNote, after a lack-luster experience earlier this year, but my biggest complaint right now is the Help documents haven't been fully updated yet. Lots of images and videos with the old UI, and confusing descriptions that no longer apply, but have #DepreciatedFeature tags. In my opinion, you don't release a product until the documentation is finished, it's just as important as all the widgets.
Anki Smart Flashcards look like an optimal solution for making your library of new vocabulary words a permanent part of your long-term memory.
Alternatively, take a look at RemNote which also includes a “smart flashcards” feature for creating a personalized spaced-repetition learning schedule.
The key is repeated exposure and application like you are currently doing by using new vocabulary words in your stories.
I’m an attorney and enthusiast of vocabulary building, language application, and study of syntax. I created an ever-continuing and ongoing personal dictionary in Evernote of new vocabulary words I desire to learn and apply in my everyday life as well as my professional writing. I add new words regularly but I too need to schedule regular time to review those words to ensure I retain them in my long-term memory.
Cherrytree is good because you can save the notes to a file and sync it in your cloud storage. Obsidian is another good one that runs on linux. I would recommend Remnote, which is what I use, because you can both take notes and study flashcards in Remnote (https://www.remnote.io/).
Yes, during the first year of development every update was free but I believe they told people that at one stage there would be paid plans but that exisintg users would be grandfathered in ... and that day came on January 7th, 2021 ... and I only discovered them 2 weeks later :(
The best way to see the differences is to scroll down the pricing page.
Personally I will not use Remnote as I'd be frustrated by the free plan's lack of:
Graph View & Editor
Aliases
Search Portals
Image Occlusion
Advanced Spacing Algorithms
PDF Uploads & Highlights
Templates
Expanded File Uploading
I missed the cut-off in January and now would need to pay $6 per month for all the features I'd want.
So hopefully you can live with the free plan - just thought I'd mention it.
I've tried OneNote as a notetaking app both on PC and Android. The biggest disadvantage is that sometimes syncing does not work (maybe it's already fixed?).
But what makes OneNote inferior to other apps is its interface and lack of options that other apps have. Things like backlinks, references etc. See RemNote features for comparison: RemNote | Pricing Guide
I have made some changes to the dark theme inspired by solarized dark theme. Check it out here. This was made in remnote itself. You can import it into your knowledge base. Be patient because it may take some time to load since it's a very big document. Feedback is welcome.
As far as I know, no, not an option that can be turned off.
I'm thinking this auto-capitalization has to do with their internal hierarchical concept of "concepts" and "descriptors". Concepts and Descriptors have their own capitalization conventions to distinguish between the two.
Documentation: https://www.remnote.io/documentation/6he7MgKQY8BAr9eD4.

Remnote might be inferring that any new rems created are in fact "concepts" which are then auto-capped as part of their conventions.
That being said, you can always change the title of the newly created rem itself so it's in the capitalization case you want. Or if you're on the Pro plan, you can create Aliases which would allow you to specify different titles for the same rem. Might be useful as well in your case for masking different conjugations/forms of the same word ;)
I don't know how I didn't see the sharing button! Thanks.
I remember two examples of hiding the sidebar:
These are also web apps for note-taking and writing.
You should try the Bullet Journaling system. I guess that will help you to maintain an organized note. Learn more about it from different sources, most importantly, about the process called migration. It will definitely help you to lose up the clutters and take what's important. It won't be effective initially, but later, you'll definitely love it when you find your own styles to write.
For a digital note, you can try RemNote. It is a paid platform. I can't give you a review of it, because I haven't used it. But I have seen many YouTubers recommending it.
I've been looking into plenty of ideas/tools for how to learn and one that I enjoy is this one: https://www.remnote.io/
It is a tool for notes, it's also a tool for flash cards and spaced repetition in one. It has quite a bit of flexibility in how to connect notes to each other so even if you're a "scatter brain", you can still connect everything in a logical and useful way 🙂
You might find RemNote to be of interest. It has many nice features for note-taking (outlining, linking, backlinks, text references, transclusion via "portals", etc.), and it combines them with spaced repetition.
Read this part of their FAQs.
TL;DR: They are currently building the product and are very passionate about it. Even if they do end up putting out a premium version the current features will remain free.
I think they are funded by MIT in this endeavor. (Don't know this for sure)
https://www.remnote.io/a/all-power-rems/AG5fK83uf8EPtTdaq
yea.. i share with you my Document i collect Power rems i know
A signal of Power Rem is their icon.. an circle with Up arrow inside
Yeah.. in old system.. Ctrl + O is shortcut for Search
https://www.remnote.io/keyboard_shortcuts - (You can change shortcut in this link)
but on new system it is Ctrl + P
The "Template" feature does sound like what you're looking for! This tutorial might help: https://www.remnote.io/documentation/Js45qiFuERfd6BwG9
RemNote (https://www.remnote.io/)
Any student wanting better grades should use this note taking/flashcard making website. It uses spaced repetition to help you remember your material. I used it between test 2, where I made a 38, and test 3, where I made a 90. It definitely works.
Thanks! Have you had a look at our tutorials? https://www.remnote.io/documentation/XuTa7irDGXSpGChQc
They're not as interactive but should also walk you through the core features.
I spent a lot of time thinking about all that. I currently have an anki deck for facts, and my ZK for more complex / abstract knowledge and ideas. I try to use some kind of Cornell method in my notes by having a set of questions at the top. But I haven’t done any automation yet...
I looked into https://www.remnote.io also, but it is far too opinionated for me, and I find it kind of ugly if I’m honest.
I will have more time to create a whole automated system eventually, but probably when I don’t need it anymore... 🙄
If these were from the demo documents, the flashcards that remain were included in the document via a Portal. If you're just getting started then I would worry about learning to use Portals yet - the easiest solution is to just delete all of the demo Rem.
Please let me know if that works for you!
Thanks for sharing these thoughts! Your suggestions mesh well with a longer-term feature we've been designing, so we'll use them to help guide our thinking there.
Some other suggestions in the meantime:
1) You could color the "Tribe" Rem so it's tag stands out
2) Instead of using a plain descriptor "verb", you could use a slot (https://www.remnote.io/documentation/Js45qiFuERfd6BwG9) and similarly color it.
We're going to redesign the "... | " - did you had something in mind here that would be cleaner for you?
I switched to remnote.io which allows me to use latex and to structure my math knowledge hierarchically i.e. in a context. Check out my math knowledge base so far here to get a feel for how it works: https://www.remnote.io/a/number-systems-and-structures/T4wqpuc49a3rtcG53
Rem Reference s are used when the link needs to appear in a specific location in the text, such as "The [[Dog]] ate my homework". Tags are used when the link is describing the entire Rem, such as " My dog ate my homework last night ##Problem". As such, tags automatically move to the far right side of the Rem.
Tags can be used to express the relation that "A is a type of B"; for example I could write "Apple ##Food", or "RemNote ##(Note-Taking Tool)". This becomes additionally powerful when using Templates (https://www.remnote.io/documentation/Js45qiFuERfd6BwG9).
Note that Tag are actually just Rem - you can open them up as a full page, edit them, make Rem References to them, etc.

Does that help? We copied this from a draft for new tutorials we're building, so please let us know if it's confusing!
Any support for note types other than basic back-front? Specifically having more fields than front/back.
How would you compare your tool to https://www.remnote.io/?
We've built a tool that sounds very similar to what you're describing. It lets you take flexible notes (with hierarchy, images, diagrams, etc.) and effortlessly interleave your notes with flashcards that get used for spaced repetition practice. We've found this makes taking notes and doing SR practice *much* easier than in Anki.
You can find the tool here. Please let us know what you think!
