I sign all my messages that way - Some systems don't display my name as well as reddit does, and doing it the same way across all platforms keeps things consistent. Plus, I think it makes my posts personal and friendly : )
I wouldn't call me notable. I am making a game ( ScrumbleShip.com ), but I don't think most have heard of it.
Cheers,
-Dirk
For anyone wondering about the game, here's an article about it: IndieGamingMag.com
Here's our website: ScrumbleShip.com
And here's our Kickstarter: Kickstarter.com

Just a heads up: although there IS a kickstarter project about this game, it still says 23 days to go and the rewards will probably start to be distributed after this time. However, if you just want to play the demo or buy the full/deluxe version, you can go directly to the game website and buy it from there, so you will have instant access to the latest release (which is, by the time I'm writing this, 0.17.1)
My game, ScrumbleShip, doesn't distribute 32 bit builds. We have had 1-2 users complain, but since we distribute source code as well, people have just compiled their own if they need it.
The problem has been very minor compared to the opengl problem, where people with older graphics cards are stuck with opengl 2.x, which the game doesn't like.

My own game, ScrumbleShip, definitely works better on Linux than on Windows.
I do all my dev work on linux, and have a tendency to pick cross platform, open source libraries to build with - And those tend to do the majority of their development on linux too. The end result is that, while the game functions fine on Windows, it's generally more stable and better looking on Linux.
Cheers!
Boy, ScrumbleShip could sure use a better trailer than what I can come up with!
Any interest? We have a ton of pre-made ships available you could play a round with, and I or the community would be happy to custom-make just about anything you needed. I'd be happy to gift you a copy, too.
Cheers,
-Dirk

he shoud hire person of this game. guy of this: http://www.scrumbleship.com/ sound also like 0x10c? u can run space ship or station and build.
also should hire! found Dailymotion/Games. its kind of slowly but it seem like 0x10c? http://www.dailymotion.com/Heliosphere1
sorry my bad english.
I've gone with a semi-proprietary license for my game- Any purchaser gets a copy of the source code along with the game.
Visit ScrumbleShip.com for more info - The license is linked on the "get" page.
As to my motivations... Well, why not? Copyright protects me just as effectively whether I open the source in this method or not, and allowing people to create mods and contribute code is a good thing.
It's too early yet to say for sure, but in the month or so this has been out there I haven't had any problems to speak of.
Cheers,
-Dirk
