Yeah. These backup options are very useful. I think Google is not providing easy local backup solution because they want users to use their cloud solutions for backup. Which is good for some users with fast internet connection, But having a local backup option is always good. Samsung, MIUI and EMUI are doing good job when it comes to providing easy local backup solution.
Also one major problem with Google Drive backup is You can't control/download/Manage that google drive backup.
If they want to push drive backup for app data, device settings at least give some options to users or just make a simple software that can backup all phone data locally to your computer in just single click. Some 3rd party softwares like Sync Droid are already doing this. I am sure it's not that hard for Google if they really want to give local backup option!!
The only way to back up your game is to have the following:
A phone (iPhone or Android)
A PC (with enough memory to where you can make the backup)
A USB cable that can be connected to your phone in order to access the data.
For iPhone users
For Android Users
Use the backup program SyncDroid or any other program & make the changes once you've done so. You can make an unlimited amount of backups, if the HDD memory allows it.
Alternatively: My device - android - data - com.bethsoft.falloutshelther - files, then copy the file 'vault1.sav' to my PC as backup.
Do you know any similar program to iTunes/ Samsung smart switch for 1-click backup android phones ? I have tried some softwares from comments. But, iTools , Moborobo installs some shady Chinese/korean app to your phone, (looks like some Chinese app store).
I also tried wondershare tunesGo , but there were some articles that were saying you can't trust wondershare products.
Currently I am using syncios/syncdroid. It's free & works for iPhone & android devices. It also installs an app to android phone. But, it isn't some shady Chinese app. However, I keep it uninstalled after finishing my backup. The only thing it doesn't backup automatically is , Music & documents backup. (You need to manually do it)
So, apart from syncdroid , Is there any program that really works ? I wonder why google is not making a software for local/offline & encrypted backup , just like itunes & pc suites from other OEMs.
Contacts & WhatsApp: Google account SMS & call history : Super backup/ GCloud
Photos/videos/songs/your app apk files : syncdroid/syncios
Documents : Backup manually
I've never used them, but BackupTrans and Syncios PC to iPhone transfer claim to be able to transfer messages to and from the iPhone. I would make sure your backup (even with its glitches) is available in case the message transfers don't work as planned.
AnyTrans can transfer messages from one iPhone to another iPhone, so it might be helpful if you have another phone to go back and forth from.
Is it encrypted ? Did it make some .backup file or it just sorted your photos , videos , music files without changing extension ?
Go to it's backup location folder in your computer , check that folder. If it's not encrypted in single file , & you see folders like, photos , videos , music etc. Just copy them to your phone.
But, if it's not & it is using their own method , you will have to pay for pro version , or find cracked version.
I will suggest you to use syncios/syncdroid in future. It's free. Also check into your installed apps , after you stop using wondershare trans , remove an app called ' wondershare/mobile trans Connector'. from your phone.
/r/android and /r/androidapps/ are probably a good place to start.

Are a couple of good sites to get you started.
Here's a quick guide to copy your contacts from your iPhone to the Samsung.
Other than that, I think the best way to learn how to use your phone is just start trying to play around with it.
