>Anyways, most of that supposedly missing space must be used by system restore points. Delete all the system restore points except the last one and reduce the amount of space that windows allocates to system restore points. This will help in preventing such massive space loss in future. Additionally run through these steps to gain more space -

Performance will take a hit if the drive becomes full. Always try to have at least 10% free space. More is better.

I got the Installer version. As far as I can see there was no checkboxes or options presented.
Running through the install procedure again, I notice that there is an OpenCandy EULA tacked onto the bottom of the regular EULA. Accepting this EULA is mandatory to proceed with installation of the program. After that, there is no indication that OpenCandy is being installed.

Cancel defrag. It may takes hours if not days to complete (ie if it ever does) on a drive with just 350MB of free space.
Allow Disk Cleanup to complete the scanning. It will take time. Alternatively via File explorer go to this location - C:\Users<your username>\AppData\local\Temp and delete everything in there manually. Now run Disk cleanup again.
Once that completes, run these

I'm not into gaming but have come to know from this sub that Steam Folders can be safely moved to the HDD. Google or post another question on this sub.
As regards the downloads folder, change the default location to your HDD and move all downloads to the HDD. Disable hibernate file if you do not use it. It occupies too much unnecessary space. In a couple of minutes, I'll edit this post and mention other steps to gain space on your SSD. You can install the new games on the HDD instead of SSD. Every installer gives you the option of changing the install location. Hopefully you'll be fine.

Temp files, page file and hibernation can make this happen. However, even with 14GB free you do not really have much space left on the SSD. Follow these steps to try and gain space

60GB is less for C drive. Get another internal HDD for secondary storage.
Once you have that, move all your personal files to the HDD and make it a point not to save any personal stuff on the SSD. Meanshile, you can try and free space on the SSD by following these steps.

Once you have the new HDD, post another question and we can then look at moving a few folders from the SSD to HDD.
Also note that your SSD is very low on space. Very soon you wiill start getting space shortage messages and your OS will slow down. Use the following methods to gain space on the SSD.

> I noticed his windows SSD was close to max capacity, so I've cleaned it up some.
This may very well be the issue. A HDD/SSD should ideally have at least 15-20% free space. What are the figures on his SSD now?
I mention below a few tips by which you can gain more space on the SSD (if you have not already done that). Additionally, if he has a secondary HDD, some folders can be moved from the SSD to the HDD.
Type Disk Cleanup in your start windows and press enter. Select your C drive and let the scan to complete. Under 'Files to delete' check everything and click OK.
Download and install CCleaner. Now download winapp2.ini and copy it over to the CCleaner installation location. Start CCleaner and go to the Applications tab. Select the checkboxes under various programs (be careful when selecting anything under Windows) and click on analyze. Delete whatever junk CCleaner finds.
Run System Ninja. Delete everything that it finds.
Delete all system restore points except the last 2-3.
Install CCleaner. Then copy over this file winapp2.ini into the CCleaner installation directory. Running it will clear off a lot of junk files. Remember to select the programs that you have installed in the Applications tab of CCleaner. You will know what I mean when you get into that tab.
Type Disk cleanup in the windows run window and start it. Select your C drive for cleaning. Select all the options that the utility shows. This should free up some more space for you.
Download and run System Ninja.
Delete old system restore points, leaving just the last 2-3.

Why not actual Cleaner ?
Obviously after Avast bought out Pirifom it's been getting a little shittier, but it's still free and you can disable all the bullshit during installation
By "Adds" do you mean "Ads" short for advertisements?
It sounds like Malware. download ADWCleaner by Malwarebytes, scan and delete all items, then download Malwarebytes and scan and Quarantine all items
Download System Ninja Scan and delete all temp files it finds.
Do not mess with those files if you are not sure.

Well you only have a 60GB partition/Drive and are bound to run out of space if you do not use the system pragmatically.
What is the default location of your downloads folder? If it is on C drive then delete/copy the contents of the download folder and change the default save location on all browsers to a location other than C:
