i think the deal with IP cam is that you need to be in the house/same IP to see the stream. that would be more for if you were at your computer, and you could set your phone up at the front door window, and you could log in from your computer to see what you want.
If you're trying to get your swerve on, use Tango. that will allow you to do "face to face" from your phone to someone's computer...or vice versa.
can also use justin.tv for a less private stream
and qik does live streaming, but i don't know how private it is. I know the qik live stream is especially useful for those moments you have reason to record, say, a police altercation and the live streaming puts the video on the qik servers, not your SD card...so the evidence is preserved.
does that help?
He left out my two favorite alternatives Tango and Sightspeed (now Logitech Vid)
Actually, Samsung didn't develop it. It's listed as Tango, but OEMs also list it in their own category. Mine says Tango video calls by HTC. Anyway, it's also available on iOS, Android, Windows etc: http://www.tango.me/
