I have a Kaby Lake XPS 13 running Fedora 26. Everything works perfectly, including the touchscreen, and Fedora even handles firmware upgrades.
If you're a Terminator fan I suggest Tilix which is a bit more modern. It's available in the Fedora repos.
In the Github page here : https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/issues/1700 people are saying that D is similar enough to C to make it possible for a non-D programmer to be able to contribute.
I can't program in either though, so take that as conjecture rather than fact.
Tilix has not been supported for some time (https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/issues/1700). Since months there are only commits concerning the language files (https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/commits/master). And the issues are getting more and more (https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/issues).
Not so sure about this. I get the same functionality without tiling by using virtual desktops as Gnome allows it where new one is created per need.
I almost never drag windows with mouse, the only case when I really like using mouse with windows is with Alt+Tab and quick select with mouse.
I use type to run [Super+type+Enter]. Most of the time I maximize software with one of [Super]+up/left/right and slide it to virtual workspace with [Ctrl+Alt+Shift]+up/down. At this point my window management is extremely efficient and I am not suffering ever so smaller space of tiling. More like I get every single benefit of quick keyboard management and at the same time my applications are using all the available or needed space I could ever want
And if I need terminal more accessible I bound myself key for this https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/wiki/Quake-Mode
Tilix is probably the only software beside maybe Builder where I like tiling option. And even in Builder I have my doubts as I prefer just using gedit
You can save and load the settings between dconf and a file as per the technique I pointed you too here:
https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/issues/792
I don't have anything else to offer other then that, sorry. Tilix uses dconf pretty much like every other gnome program (gedit, Nautilus, gnome terminal, etc) since that's my target DE.
I can send the dotfiles on request. (p10k, zshrc)
I've been absolutely loving Tilix, NeoVim, and YouCompleteMe (plugin).
I could possibly help you with your YCM problem. Had to install it many times and learned to solve many issues that pop up. Just let me know what problem you ran into and what language/s you were trying to set up.
EDIT: Just read you're on Mac. Tilix unfortunately doesn't have a Mac version, although if you wanted to, you could possibly compile it.
Have you tried Tilix? It has that feature and a tons of other features. It's the best terminal I've ever used. It's even better integrated into GNOME than GNOME Terminal is.
zypper in tilix
instead. https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix.
Tilix uses VTE as Gnome terminal, but a lot more feature rich, like split windows, quake mode, check their github page and see for yourself.
The terminal you see in the screenshot is tilix with Dracula theme for tilix. The installation process is slightly easier than for gnome terminal. However, I have also installed the gnome terminal theme you linked. I did not encounter any issues while following the instructions. Did you receive any errors during the installation? Have you checked your preference and chosen the right color theme under Profiles -> Colors?
However, Tilix is basically no longer supported. For months, there have only been automated updates of the translations and a new maintainer has been sought for some time (https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/issues/1700).
It's not maintained: https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/releases
1.9.3 release was realeased on May 5, 2019. Only the merge requests are merged into master, there is no active development.
https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/issues/1700
Since almost a year there are only changes in language files. And the issues are getting more and more.
Therefore I would not recommend Tilix at the moment, because there is no support.
I switched from Terminator to Tilix and now I am back to Terminator. Tilix has unfortunately met the same fate as Terminator. For months no further development has taken place. There are only commits for translations (automated?). The developer has also been looking for someone to continue the project a few months ago (https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/issues/1700).
Tilix has unfortunately suffered the same fate as Terminator in 2017, there is currently no further development taking place (https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/issues/1700). For my part I prefer software where the developers are still active. Especially since the list of issues (https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/issues) is not very short.
This is just a normal terminal emulator without window titles and buttons, this i not necessarily specific to window managers like I3.
The same effect can be achieved on Gnome with a terminal that does not use window borders.
One such terminal emulator is Tilix, it has an option to not use window borders.
There is a manifest upstream, although it would indeed be nice to have it built in Flathub - IIUC there are several flatpak-specific features needs to be enabled in Tilix to make it happen
According to the comments on the respective issue the lawyer that sent them the notice actually checked it for them and it was fine for the US.
