There have got to be apps for this purpose. I had done a virtual scavenger hunt on an app a few years ago - which was fun although low participation (that’s always the way).

This is a great idea though - think I’ll steal it to distract from the COVID nonsense lately. If I can even get anyone’s attention 😫
We use timely at work, and it's probably the only reason I keep on top of my time sheets. There's a very nifty plugin that tracks what I do all day so I never have to guess, and also is easy to connect to projects.
I have no idea what it costs, but it might be worth it? I'd happily pay for the functionality.
Not a book, but you may benefit from looking into 'Task Batching'.
There are Books, but you can probably find out enough online without having to read them.
I would suggest looking into a time tracking app. This is one I've heard good things about: https://memory.ai/timely I haven't used it myself as I don't need that functionality at my job. There are other ones, including free ones, out there. What's key is to get one that logs your activity automatically, not one you have to manually input.
I have used Rescue Time, which I suppose could also work, but it's more geared toward avoiding distractions than tracking specific tasks.
