In the vein of time tracking, I use a simple tool called WatchMe (http://www.flamebrain.com/download-watchme/) and run different timers for different tasks. I always keep one running, even if just for general email and misc maintenance, and then make new ones when working on specific tickets or projects.
Also keep a weekly ticket open to capture all those little tasks that are not worth actually making a whole new ticket for. At least you'll have it written down somewhere.
Do not use "number of closed tickets" as any kind of metric to report to management.
When I was still on Windows, I used WatchMe (http://www.flamebrain.com/download-watchme/). It lets you run as many simultaneous timers, with labels, as you like.
I've used this one for years. It looks like they made it for you. You can create regular timers or countdown timers and pause and restart them at will. You can also attach a note to a regular timer or countdown timer. Rearrange tabs in the order that you like them to appear.
Bonus: You can create a set of countdown timers and put them on a named tab. Create additional tabs that can contain their own unique timers.

If you are looking for an actual program. WatchMe is decent and simple enough to use.
The Warren Buffett Stocks was just an example :)
With watchme you mean this app http://www.flamebrain.com/download-watchme/, so you want like simple-look stock desktop ticker?
And what annoyances all the other tickers have, so I will know to avoid them? :)
