Yeah wow! Nice. This is very useful.
I love how I can browse around the countries looking at the variations in laws and measures put in place because of Covid-19. I'm going to spend some time on this for sure.
I've also added it to my webfeed under tracking tools.
URL: https://webcull.com
Purpose: A bookmark manager that syncs from multiple types of browsers and devices.
Technologies Used: Vanilla JavaScript with custom library
Feedback Requested: I just redesigned the homepage and would like feedback on UX and appearance.
Comments: I am a full-stack developer and this is my side-project.
Honestly I hate tags. Folders is where its at, tags is a cool additional thing but not a core competency of a bookmark manager, if you want that and don't like ads too Webcull is where its at.
Yeah I want to see a research paper to back your claim. I just searched for the last 30 minutes trying to find something to backup what your saying beyond opinions. I think such a claim requires some concrete evidence behind it. I'm sorry but I also don't have time to go on a wild goose chase on twitter looking for something you claim to have seen once. Get back to me with something like that and I promise you, not only will I delete my comment, I will share it everywhere I can, including a webfeed on covid19 that I've been curating.
I use webcull.com for my bookmarks and I wrote a blog post a while back where I go into pretty think detail about how I organize my bookmarks. Here it is if you want to give it a look.
webcull.com is developing a free tool for link sharing. It should be released in the next week or so. It would be out now but things got delayed by unexpected complexities but its going to happen.
Here's something I've been working on for a couple weeks. I didn't want to add every feature out there for background images and color filtering but just enough to create (what I think are) some really cool effects. I've messed with it a lot off camera and created some pretty awesome looks. Would love to hear your feedback.

> Wallabag is free and open source.
The product available from their website is not free. I suppose if you self host its free but that's not something most users want to have to do.
> I know it doesn't mean it is better, it just means I can store my bookmarks on my own without another entity monetizing that somehow.
I totally understand that as a concern and probably have to improve on how we articulate where we stand on this.
WebCull is not meant to monetize off of your data. I already know that would be a big problem for people. If we ever go with ads some day, there will always be an optout.
Here's the privacy policy:
https://webcull.com/policy/privacy
In summary:
We don't sell, trade, or give away personal info.
We don't use third party tracking tools in our app.
We use cookies only to provide basic site functionality.
BTW I noticed thanks to you that the policy has been removed from the homepage by mistake. That will be fixed soon but it's there right before registering.

EDIT: Okay i think i was confused and thought wallabag.it was their hosted version but i guess its just someone offering the tool as a hosted solution. If you are looking specifically for a self-hosted solution webcull cant help you there. That's just not one of our features.
I know this is too little too late but in the future maybe use an online service for your bookmarks.

That way your computer could be dropped off a bridge but you wont loose your bookmarks.
