This sounds cool so I tried googling it and found this. It's called Houkai 3rd, and the description mentions that civilization has been destroyed several times.

Houkai 3rd of miHoYo - creator of Guns Girl. The game is a pretty 3d hack and slash with cute girl anime theme, I played in Chinese server (Though but i had to switch to JP because at least i can understand Japanese moonrunes better) ._.) Phone game nowadays are pretty, and sooo soul draining. To Gacha or not to gacha.

Thanks to someone-whose-name-I-forgot mentioning GGZ a few days ago, I found this game while searching for GGZ. Seems like they still use the same characters. Nonetheless, more "cute girls fighting evil" genre, so why not?
