FAQ - Why does my battery not charge past 50%/60%/70%?
This is an odd issue and is one of those problems that the cause has not been found. But there are a few things that may fix this or help.
- Charge the XD with the screen on. ( Oddly enough, this seems to work most times )
- Use a better quality USB Cable
- Charge from a wall charger vs usb. ( make sure and check the specs on charger )
- Install a battery calibrating app. Like: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newagetools.batcalibra&hl=en

Replacing the battery is a bit daunting for most users (like me). I went the battery calibration route and so far it seems to have stopped my 6p from shutting down at 15% life left. I believe that the batterystats.bin needed to be refreshed after a year's time. This method doesn't INCREASE battery life but it does make it so that the phone reports battery life more accurately and doesn't shut down when the phone still says it has plenty left! See the following:

Also I tried calibrating it manually by letting it run to shutoff, rebooting etc but that didn't work for me and didn't want to keep doing it that way (seemed to me I was stressing the battery by doing that repeatedly) so I just used an app like this one. It doesn't say so in the description but my guess is that it is deleting the batterystats.bin file.

So far so good.
P.S. I only started having the shutoff at 15% issue when going to the 7.1.1 preview.
The charging issue I do not think is hardware, I think its a software issue i think due to the calibration. But yes the old XDs had an issue with using fast charger, you could break it. The new XD+ MAY have PumpExpress 2 capabilities meaning that it will not break when using a fast charger and may actually charge faster. I am still waiting for the testers to report back on that one.
as far as the not charging past 60% here is an FAQ I added to my site:

It must be incompatibility with Android 7 or something, because it works with 4.4. On 7.1 though, after it supposedly goes through the calibration process, the display briefly blinks white and then goes completely black, and nothing happens.
It's this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newagetools.batcalibra
Seem like a battery issue...

Edit: I know it doesn't do anything. But it explains the process and how you do it correctly.
