I've been having a lot of fun with this free cross-platform (iOS/Android/PC) MMORPG lately. You play the game completely yourself (there's no auto-run-to-objective or auto-combat or anything like that) and the story/dialogue is pretty amusing (some references to The Office and other popular shows/movies).
Don't let the initial lack of character classes turn you off - as you play, you unlock several others. As long as you have the correct weapon in your bag, you can freely swap between any of the unlocked classes (on the same character) whenever you aren't in combat.
I've previously played World of Kings and Era of Legends and this has grown on me more than both of those.

Have you tried adventure quest 3d? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.battleon.aq3d It's one of the best MMORPG though many argue it's kinda p2w because since the game is in beta and the devs need money they made a class which can be only bought. Forget this and just play it.
The only mobile MMORPG I can recommend is Adventure Quest 3D though I may be biased since as a kid I absolutely loved games by Artix, nevertheless it's worth a spin

I've been around since beta and have only seen improvements in terms of lag and disconnections. I pretty much never lag or disconnect. Either y'all are botting or you've never played a game with REAL server problems.
Bots aren't harmful if they're never seen and there's no economy. Or are they?
Do you even play AQ3D? Probably not. My only issue with it is that it takes longer to travel, without easy /join and massive maps. It's ludicrously free2play and better than AQW in most ways. And it's a little more portable.
NES is not outdated. (Are you not getting the joke yet?... Fine, NES is totally outdated since it can't run Doom.)
AQ3D is successful, even if it doesn't specifically appeal to YOU. Oversoul died because literally nobody could sign up for months (this one is on AE!), and PvP based card games tend to be pretty inelegant or pay2win. I never cared for Warpforce or Herosmash either, but all companies make mistakes. Look at Nintendo >.> They've made MASSIVE mistakes (remember the Wii U? "I'll use the pro controller 'cause I'm pro!" "I'll use the dinner plate!") but are doing fine now. Again. And again. Don't be like the fools who claim Nintendoomed.
AQW release quality ranges from meh to excellent IMO, considering the frequency of updates. I agree it's poor design though, games like MapleStory or AQ3D have rarer but much better updates.
