There's an Android app called Breezometer that does something similar.
Unsurprisingly, the areas with the shittiest air quality are clustered in cities next to highways and power plants.
Much as I hate to discourage - in any way - someone's attempt toe create useful (or fun) apps, and as someone with COPD, your app sounds useful but... I've been using the BreezoMeter app for several years and it does this for me and more. Although I do think that little elephant is getting really tired here in Seattle lately.
