Not surprising. They aren't leaders, they are followers who don't speak for our best interests. Like most unfortunately.

I use NordVPN currently. They are based in Panama, they don't keep logs, I got 3 years for $99. I run it via OpenVPN through pfSense. Only cons are they recycle servers quite often so they just suddenly drop off which is a pain for a static setup like mine but fine if you use the app or browser extensions that connect you automatically.

I also combine that with DNS over TLS. DNS is unencrypted so your DNS traffic can plainly be seen by anyone monitoring your network. Look at Cloudflare and Quad Nine DNS services as they offer DNS over TLS.
There's multiple US cities with plastic bag fees or bans (as well as many countries). I believe California completely banned them and charge for using recycled paper bags. I haven't heard any negative from their implementations, just a positive cut on plastic bag usage. There was probably some push back and some upset people but it doesn't seem like it was that many. I think it is a good direction overall for the environment. It takes like a thousand years for them to break down, animals die from them, etc.
I've had these bags for 5 years now - only one or two of them have tiny wholes from wear and a couple have disappeared from using them to bring things over to other people's houses. They are 1.40 each right now if a 10 pack is bought. I bought another 10 pack so I could keep 5 in my car and 5 in my SO's car. If you shop at Hy Vee, they will reimburse 5 cents per bag - so each bag would pay for itself after 28 uses. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003B6478Q/
Be careful not so much for the snow while driving, but the ice. Especially the ice that forms at intersections -after- the snow plows have come through. Seems like they put a Zamboni like shine to the intersections. AWD and ABS won't really help you to stop. So approach intersections slowly.
About your AWD. I don't think you'll need true "snow tires", but check that you have all-season tires.
If heavy snow is forecast, top off your gasoline and your cell phone battery. Kinda like the folks saying to bring extra gloves and such in your car, wouldn't hurt to get a small portable USB charger, like one of these https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-Compact-High-Speed-Technology/dp/B01CU1EC6Y [Not an endorsement. Just that or something like that]
> Oh wow, another person who doesn’t understand what defund the police means.
I’m all for reallocating funds for mental health and other programs to stop police brutality and minority targeting. Can you seriously not see why the slogan “defund the police” isn’t the best? Defund literally means “cessation of funds or cancellation of funding. I’m not being hyperbolic. We aren’t winning people over with it because most interpret it as “no more police, you’re screwed if you have issues that may need police/authority intervention.” They aren’t correct in their interpretation, but it’s interesting when we say stuff like you’re comment as if we should expect every person to get the nuance. We expect the uneducated to either “get it” or otherwise they are hopeless racists. That’s a problematic approach. Instead of degrading others without reason (which is exactly what we want the whites to stop doing), maybe we should healthily redirect? Just my two cents.
Relevant to the race-war this thread has become. 2011 Homicide map for Omaha:
This is the reason I avoid that part of town.
Think of a VPN like a tunnel on the roadway. The other cars know it's there and know you are in the tunnel but they can't see inside it. Only the user and the VPN service know what you are doing so it's important to find the right service.

PIA and NordVPN do not keep logs and PIA actually pulled servers out of Russia after they demanded they keep logs. NordVPN additionally is not based in the US but offers hundreds of VPN servers all over the country.
So far, I'm happy with the video quality and features. Longevity remains to be seen, but my previous cameras have all held up reasonably well. This is the one I'm using, which I found on the /r/Dashcam sidebar.
you can play the original arcade rom here:
https://archive.org/details/arcade_defender
It in particular has some specific setup setups in the instructions you have to perform before it will work. I didn't get it to work myself but should be possible. You can also download and install Mame to play the game image yourself which may give better luck.
I considered building my own arcade cabinet and powering it with a raspberry pi, cheap monitor and an arcade stick. to play some old-school games with a vintage feel.
Although on that note... if "nobody plays it" you could potentially make an offer to buy the thing.
You're most likely thinking of the Lewis & Clark Monument just north of Council Bluffs. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g37797-d609488-Reviews-Lewis_and_Clark_Monument_and_Scenic_Overlook-Council_Bluffs_Iowa.html
Antibacterial soap is being banned.
No more will be made, but there is still inventory on store shelves out there.
Jesus dude, you keep posting this here, but as I've said the other times if you want the most up to date police speed trap reports you're going to be better serviced downloading Waze rather than asking /r/Omaha.
Hell, you don't even have to download the app you can look it up here: https://www.waze.com/livemap it'll show any currently reported speed traps there.

You don't have to spend a lot on a vacuum, especially if you don't have dogs.
Steaks and Grapes on 169th street is pretty strong. $16 each and offer multiple flavors. The mimosas and food together are a little pricey but they have great beignets and the best "from scratch" biscuits & gravy in town. Used this groupon to try them out: https://www.groupon.com/deals/steak-and-grapes

Mexican? Maria's in Ralston
I live in one of 'those' neighborhoods.
Brand new trump flags flying on stand alone flag poles with a faded, tattered Walmart U.S. flag. No lights. Day or night, rain or shine. No half staff for 9/11. And a second or third flag showing trump with a rocket gun. For good measure, they have those human bullseye signs that say 'I don't call 911'.
They hang out at each other's houses and drive around with flags on their cars.
I know a few people in my neighborhood who support Biden but will not put out any sign for fear their windows or dogs will be shot.

Edit: When you drive by at night, 70 inch TVs in their front rooms with Fox News on 70% of the time.
I had the exact same problem as you did with my previous car but I was able to remove all of those tiny rust spots with this:
https://www.amazon.com/Carpro-Iron-Remover-500-Sprayer/dp/B004UM6DLE?th=1
Just got to plan on using right after washing your car. I thought it was a bit expensive ($25) for what it was, but it worked 100% as expected and it was so easy to get rid of all of those spots that afterwards I felt it was worth it.
If you're just taking it for a detail then just ask them whether they'll use something like this spray or if they're going to clay bar your car to get rid of those.
OPPD's arboretum is a hidden short walk in the city (I think it's like 1.5 miles total). But it's pretty and secluded, minus the power grid it's located next to.
My wife and I enjoy driving this drive once a month or so. Depending on whether you get out and hike around much, it will take 2-3 hours (or longer if you plan to take a lunch/relax along the river).
Check out Air BnB. You can get a room for not too much if you're not picky.
Cheers, I appreciate it! I'm attempting a 50 mile run along the Big Papio/Keystone trail this Saturday at 3am (trying to beat the heat!). Here's the route if anyone wants to join up later in the morning.
Last summer I had a Rebellion flag out and some lady walking by asked if it was antifa. Well...obviously. Reminds me, I need to put it back out.

Mid 30s it looks like, and no there really isn't any snow on the ground. Hasn't been really bitter cold like last year, so its just kinda cold. I would still wear a coat and a hat maybe. If the wind is high it feels much colder FYI.
OP, highly recommend YoutubeTV. Will work on virtually any smart device (Roku, FireTV, most internal smart TV programs, computers, phones) and if you don't otherwise "need" cable TV, you can just subscribe for the length of the season (shorter this year! yay COVID???) and then unsub, because there is no obligation to stayed subbed for 2 years or anything like there is if you went Cox or Dish or whatever. https://tv.youtube.com/welcome/
Call the 800 number and tell them right away you want to cancel your cable. Let them know you are going to Direct TV or Sling . They will transfer you to the Loyalty Department.
Tell the Loyalty department that your cable is way too high now and you need to cancel. (They cannot actually cancel without you bringing in your box, so don't worry about them calling your bluff). Right off the bat, they may offer you $15 off a month. Let them know that's too much and you still think Sling is a better option. They will probably put you on hold and come back with a better deal. If it's reasonable, let them know you will stick around. Lock in the lower price.
Call again in a few days and let them know you thought about it and you think you really are going to go with Sling. If they can't do any better, you have already locked in a lower price than you had before. However, they still may be able to give you another few bucks off your bill.
My bill is currently $75 a month with taxes. This includes premium internet and channels 1-70, some local HD channels, and HBO. (includes HBO go which is so worth it) I do not have a box or DVR.
I call and negotiate with them all the time.
EDIT: Also, if you have the 20 channel deal, try unplugging from the box and plug directly into the wall. You may get up through channel 70. You will lose having a guide, but just get the TV Guide app on your phone.
You can also check Nextdoor.com. And you can report him to NHS without having to turn him in. A vet can check for a chip. And don't forget the Lost Pets group on Facebook. Thanks for being kind enough to take care of him!
Consider a different VoIP option (the landline from Cox is VoIP, too). I set up a free phone number through Google Voice and purchased a VoIP adapter (link at the end of this post). I use the same old home phone, and it has been working perfectly for the past three or so years. I can access my Google Voice through my cell and computer, and I have the calls to my "home" phone ring directly to my cell. My old phone at home works for incoming and outbound calls, and the best part is this costs me $0 per month. Know that I can't use my home phone for 911 unless I sign up and pay a fee. I also have friends that leverage Ooma. Good luck! https://www.amazon.com/Obihai-OBi200-Adapter-Support-Service/dp/B07FCS1NGM/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Obihai&qid=1626137992&sr=8-1

Yeah the DIY for these is pretty easy if you're interested.
If you YouTube search your car model there's usually step by step instructions that usually just involve popping some of the vinyl off for a moment and then putting it back on.
At most you just need one of those plastic crowbar kits
It looks like the version that I have is no longer available but there is an updated version out.
Brand new (still in the shrink wrap!) Ecobee 3 thermostat with remote temperature sensor. It's this one.

For what purpose? You can send a plastic bottle to Ward Labs and they will have results to you in a few days. You can grab a cheap TDS meter on Amazon if you just want to know how the RO system is working.
While we could likely argue our respective points:

The key thing to me, is we evolved much better responses to heat than cold. I've spent my time in the desert and would much prefer my odds with the windows open in the summer than no way to keep warm in winter.
It's also usually not the heat that kills someone as much as other factors, like not drinking water.
To meet the locals, check out Nextdoor.com and Meetup.com. For winter weather, don't forget to change out your washer fluid to the kind that has anti-freeze in it. It's almost fall, so check out Valas Pumpkin Patch - one of the better things Nebraska has to offer.
Yes. Google Maps Link w/ satellite view of parking
You can pull off Fort Crook towards the gate, then do a U-turn before you get to the gate so you can get to the parking lot. It's outside the fence, so accessible.

The most recent Kickstarter update describes the process of cataloging the games to assist with keeping the collection in good condition. After a game is checked out, it's checked back in, with the staff noting the condition of the box, the number of pieces, etc., and ordering replacements if something goes missing or is destroyed.
Where does it say that Sasse voted for this guy? Nowhere. If you're going to write a sensational headline, then actually find an article that talks about what your headline does.
Honestly, I don't give a shit about this because a judge on a district court in bumfuck Alabama will never have a say over anything in my life. However, Steve Grasz from Nebraska also received an unqualified rating and both Sasse and Fischer support the guy and he's being nominated for the 8th circuit court of appeals, a much more critical position.
If anyone cares, call Sasse and Fischers offices, write letters, and generally complain because while bumfuck Alabama doesn't matter to Omaha, the 8th circuit really does.

Geocaching is a world wide system of placing, tracking, finding and logging hidden objects using gps. iOS, android and many gps receivers can hook into the system to find hidden stashes hiding all over. Check of http://www.geocaching.com/ for more details.
I have CBS, NBC, and ABC, and they are shown here too if you select Omaha as location: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/channels/
Not sure why you are missing those, but you may look into that in case they need to update their end or something. Refresh the cache in your browser too.
I got one of the $10-$15 digital antennas from Best Buy and I get Fox 42 pretty easily. I believe my antenna has multiple 'modes' or 'channels,' some dial that can be rotated on the base of the device, for different frequency or something (I know, this is a poor explanation -- it's early and I'm not in front of it), but I was able to rotate that dial and move the antennas into a position where I get Fox, CBS, ABC, and NBC without issue.
Also, along the line of cord cutting, check out Sling TV. For $20/month, you get a good number of channels. Also, if you pay for 3 months in advance, you can get a Roku Stick for free!
Their is a place on 60th and Maple called The Hole. They have punk shows all the time. I have never been, but many of my friends have.
It's been a few years, but I had a handyman do mine and it cost about $5k about that size. It just depends on who you get to do the work and what their mark up is on supplies. You can even cut a deal where you supply the materials and they just do the work. I know I'm always pushing Nextdoor.com, but ask your neighbors for their input. You might be able to find one who can help you out.

Barely used complete Numark DJ setup including two Numark NDX400 CDJs with USB capability (so you don’t have to burn CDs to play!), Numark M2 mixer, and Numark speakers. *** No headphones included as mine are still in use.
This WILL work with Serato, you’ll need to buy control CDs and do your own technical support however. I do not have the CDs for this nor the equipment.
This setup includes all cables and cords you’ll need, I even have the back of the mixer labeled so you’ll have no problem hooking everything up.
This would be perfect for someone who wants to learn how to DJ and doesn’t want to spend an arm and a leg to get newer equipment and build a whole collection up. This setup is as good as new, it’s just collecting dust in a bedroom right now and I’d rather someone have it that will use it. Proven working at time of photo, video available!
Preferred: Payment by Venmo at time of pickup. No shipping
Does your house have coax cable drops in each room?
If so, you could go the Ethernet over coax route. I got a pair of these ActionTec ones and I've been running them since October of last year without any issues. My ping went up about 10ms from what it was while being directly plugged into my router but it's way better than having a patch cable.
If you want to get them for even cheaper, go the eBay route.
In an ideal world, yes. But most people will either use bags they have from the store or the cheap ones from the local pet store or Amazon. Neither are biodegradable. Environment friendly dog waste bags cost more. These ones on Amazon are $14 for 900 cheap bags or $26 for 900 of the biodegradable ones.
I've read Outliers, and I'm generally a big fan of Malcolm Gladwell; he's a fantastic storyteller, and is good at bringing new perspectives that you haven't considered before.
He has a couple great TED talks too. On one occasion, Gladwell speaks at length about spaghetti sauce, and his story about the Norden bombsight is really good too.
As for the books I'm reading, here are a few I'm working through, depending on what I'm feeling:
Death by Black Hole - Neil deGrasse Tyson
What the Dog Saw - Malcolm Gladwell
The Time Machine - H.G. Wells
Economics in One Lesson - Henry Hazlitt
I got a really nice espresso machine there for $12 two months ago.
It's a little loud so I don't use it that often, but it's still a very nice machine.
I was thinking, "they should make an app that does this moble freindly", turns out they do. I'll have to install that so if/when power is out I can report and track it more easily.
Free stuff!

I have chickens and the feed attracts mice. This was a game changer. The trick is getting them used to feeding on it. Tape the flap from the underside for a week or two and keep replacing the bait as it depletes. Once you're ready, pull the tape and you'll get most if not all in one night. I got 8 in one night once. Now I use it as needed if I find signs of mice. I will note that I have it set up in the garage because that's where they were nesting. This may be a little too much to place inside the house for a few weeks.
I bought this stupid cheap air pump off Amazon that is powered off my car's cigarette lighter and it has changed my life (well, mildly). It's a LITTLE slow (I'd say about half the speed of a gas station one) but I can pump air in my own garage/driveway whenever I want to.
Similar to this one although not that one. I checked and the one I bought is no longer for sale.
Otherwise I go to HyVee Gas because their pumps have a reader built in that you can set to your desired PSI and it beeps at you when done.
I'm far from an expert, but here's what I did. I used VirtualBox, and gave the VM one core (of the 4 on my "server") and 1gb of ram. Both were overkill. Set the network adapter to "bridged" mode so it gets its own IP on the network. I installed ubuntu 16.04 LTS server, since you don't need any GUI elements, just a command line.
Then I followed the same instructions on the pihole setup page, which is really just a single command. Update your DNS on your router to point to your VM, and you're good to go. Most (all?) of the management can then be done from the admin web page, which you can access with the password it gives you by going to the IP address of the VM. Lots of different options in there, including the ability to disable for x amount of minutes.

I have this one, and it's really good, though a little pricey: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RXQJ148 You can look into it more in r/Dashcam, they have a good list. It's on the right side and has a lot of choices for all sorts of budgets. https://carcamcentral.com/ is pretty good for reviews, but are out of date it seems.
Also, when you get the SD card, get a high endurance card, otherwise the manufacturer may not cover any warranties.
Buying a dashcam is 100% the correct move. It might not help in this situation, but having the dashcam in the future can save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
This is the one I have. It's currently $120 on Amazon
I mean climate change is very real and serious but strictly from a temperature perspective, this isn't anything crazy. Look here for example at a random February 50 years ago. I didn't cherry pick it, I didn't look at nearby years at all, but looking at a random year in every decade since, it's not some massive outlier. This is just weather in the plains and people are not very good at remembering the big picture of what the climate was like x years ago. Temperature rise isn't even something you can really notice on your own - over the last 40 years, the global average temp has increased ~0.3 degrees F per decade.
A "Kill A Watt" is a nice tool for tracking appliance current.
Omaha tap water is safe to drink but I don't like the flavor of the chloramine (combination of chlorine and ammonia) they use as disinfectant. I REALLY notice this when I go to a restaurant and get a glass of water. bleh
I use a Brita filter that screws onto my kitchen faucet and it does a fine job of removing the chloramine and eliminating the unpleasant taste. You can toggle it between filtered and unfiltered so it doesn't compromise any function of your faucet. A new one costs about $30 now. The filter is replaceable, lasts me least 6 months/100 gallons and costs around $15 or so. They have different models, this is the one I've settled on. It's not needed for safety reasons but my primary fluid intake is water so it's worth it to me. Any activated carbon filter will remove the substance so there's many options.
I like match 3 games, Marvel Puzzle Quest has been my go-to for a while. Lots of micro transactions, but I've never spent a cent on it. If you're on Android, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.boyle.chris.sgtpuzzles is a great set of different puzzles too.
This one works really well for me.

Save Huskers as favorite so they always appear at the top. On gameday launch the app, click on the game, and choose from a bunch of radio stations (listed by channel, ie "95.8 FM").
I prefer this to the official Huskers app, which IMO is a pile of crap.

Unfortunately the Omaha Public Library doesn't have a copy of this book but you might be able to find it elsewhere if you don't want to buy it. The author was a well-respected history and political science professor (he passed away in 2006).
Omaha was sort of unique in that the old Political Boss system didn't change after Prohibition. In most big cities the Mafia used Prohibition to take control from the bosses instead of just being their pawns.
There's a book on the history of it Political Bossism in Mid America by a late UNO professor.

If you are talking about the red thing, it is a dog harness. You can see a blue leash attached to it. It isn't identical, but is very similar to this one.
There's not a store that has that sort of parts in town. As folk mentioned the closest is KC.
I would suggest getting the upgrade kit if you haven't. Replace the black plastic extruder arm, get the stiffer yellow springs, and the higher quality couplers.

It's not that hard to do it yourself, especially if the house is already wired for cable. You can install an antenna on your roof/attic and then run it through the old cable system. You'll need an amplifier if you have a lot of TVs connected so you don't lose signal with all the splits.
I have this one - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SVNKT86
Some people prefer just hooking up a single antenna/cable to an HD home run device (which has a builtin tuner) and then distributing that signal to all their media devices/TVs over their local network. I like the convenience of each TV having its own tuner/signal.
I would bet an electrician or any handyman could do it for you. The hard part is running the coax if you don't already have that done Make sure to ground the antenna if you mount outside (I put mine in the attic so I didn't have to mess with that).

It is 11 minutes on foot from the old location to the new location. https://www.bing.com/maps?osid=222b61dc-3541-44a7-811f-6ec0d287b480&cp=41.255785~-95.939743&lvl=16&v=2&sV=2&form=S00027
The new location is downtown. So no loss there.
How about the neighborhoods up 10th street from the Durham to Lauritzen Gardens. Lots of houses up there. A library at 14th and Jones (a new, nice library) is closer than W. Dale Clark. The main branch has just never been that great to go to. I never saw heavy usage at that branch. Typically when I went to W. Dale Clark it was me, the library staff, and people surfing on the computers. Rarely saw kids or families.

Also, you can pretty much just walk along any of the trails that follow the various drainage ditches (er, branches of Papillion Creek) and look for drains.
I'll point you to scholar.google.com and you can do the rest of the work yourself, I have an undergraduate degree to finish and spend too much time on reddit as it is.
As far as fluoride is concerned, here is a good starting point. Have your pick and have fun reading.
Fluoride is my main concern when it comes to drinking water. Many municipalities around the nation have banned it from being added. Chlorine is also present in usually large amounts. Microbes also like to call your tap water home. Omaha has lots of poo particles floating in the city water.
As far as consequences go, there are not many for the average healthy adult. Babies, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems are likely at higher risk of infection, but even then the chances are slim. Mostly I believe that taking in small amounts of fluoride, chlorine, arsenic, and other metals is not good for one's body, even if the EPA says the levels are within tolerance.
Oh wow, that's pretty rough then. Im in the neighborhood by the Hy-vee at 52nd and Center never really had any problems other than the occasional case of Youtube hitching. I just got home and ran a speedtest, so maybe my area isnt getting slammed as hard.

Try meetup.com. Also join your local nextdoor.com to get to know your neighbors. Go to your child's school functions; enroll them in dance or sports; boy or girl scouts; etc. - hang out with the other mom's while watching the kids. Premier Gymnastics has a good tumbling/trampoline program, as well as dance, gymnastics, martial arts.
it honestly might be. this is the ad i found. it visually does not look bad but obviously i want to check it out for myself. i also don’t mind hardwood that much because it will be easier to keep clean. did they allow cats when you lived there?
my fiance and i just got photos taken by this lady

we are only having 2 sessions of two hours each, and she was a pleasure to work with
It's not so easy, AutoMod. A lot of hobbies aren't catered to in Omaha, and just finding those places is difficult. Meetup.com is actually pretty sparse and I'm actually pretty friendly with one of the hosts of the largest active social group already, but still my problem is the same--people either to busy or people just wanting to spend all day playing video games. I actually find this fairly unhelpful, because the problem isn't finding a hobby and go doing it, it's knowing where to do it.
Finding people that like music I like is monumental, for example, though many of the bands I like are hardly obscure, they are obscure here, at least among the millennial generation. It's hard to connect with people in this city, I think.
I'm aware automod is a bot.
Come join our meetup.com group called Omahan Happy Hour. It's a free for all, we have meetups somewhat regularly but need more people.
Sometimes just going to neighborhood watering hole, having a drink or two, and chatting it up can lead to good things. I love Downtown, best neighborhood spots IMP are Benson, Midtown, Dundee, Blackstone..Great bars, food, and a mix of people but skewed towards a younger crowd mostly.
oh your phone can do that just search db meter in the app store. This is one I use. Otherwise you can look into a 14/30 day notice if it's an unlivable, unreasonable situation and that can get you out of your lease.
It looks like this is the right answer. If you Google circular conference speaker, the eMeet looks near identical.

It’s pretty close, curry makes b hole slurry. Pun intended LOL. It’s very good though in my opinion.
If you want to give it a go, there is a place called Tanduri Fusion out by Lakeside, 168th Center area that has a decent Groupon. If it’s still running it’s 30 dollars for 17 I believe. You and another can easily have a decent dinner there and not break the bank.
Obviously this is my opinion and Internet strangers aren’t the best for those, but I believe this is a good place if you want to try it out. Cheers.

It changed a little bit, still a decent deal IMO
Mother India, if it’s still there is definitely the spot though. That’s non budget and I’m sure the foodies in this sub already know.
Costco has the AC1900 version of that on sale right now. That's all your Apple devices can take advantage of anyway.
Have you checked out the wiki?

No it didn't. I check it every day and it said 1-3" Saturday and maybe a chance today, and it has said that since Monday.

I was highway-75 south bound from the cornhusker exit between 6am and 7am, heading to the hospital on 370 for a medical emergency. This is not an excuse, this is why I know we didn't have blizzard conditions this morning and why I was out.
Yes I did 5 over, that was bad, but I own up to faults instead of trying to excuse my behavior. If you want to report me, feel free.
You, however, are just clearly looking for an argument. You make it apparent with your shifting goal posts and complete unwillingness to actually discuss any one topic.
EDIT - Weather for this morning in the area, a whopping 0.1in of precipitation, such disastrous blizzard conditions /s : https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/KOFF/date/2018-12-2?req_city=Bellevue&req_state=NE&req_statename=Nebraska&reqdb.zip=68123&reqdb.magic=1&reqdb.wmo=99999

Here's one for a weekend care assistant, but requires weekday paid training.
Edit: never mind, this is full time.
Cowboy Trail is usually full up on cyclists.. Hitchcock in IA, Schramm, Platte River State Park for some mishmash of trails, Hummel Park (watch out for albino cannibal gangs), Boyer Chutte is sketchy, and Ponca's nice. Outside of that there's Wildlife Management Areas (please wear blaze orange hat/vest and one for the dog as it is deer season), Loup River Trail if you go west, and then some.
Try this very robust flight search tool that got out by Google Flights
It's the only one I know of where you can choose flights +/- 2 days in either direction and multiple airports in both directions
