I've never used Tasker, but I know it's pretty popular on reddit. There's a plugin for the Chromecast: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autocast
I imagine that it'd be possible to set Tasker to automatically cast an mp3 at a certain time
There is a plugin called AutoCast havn't tried it so not sure if it can connect to Chromecast Audio. Give it a try, maybe it works :)
Since you can cast to Google Home from an Android device, you could perhaps use Tasker to do the casting. So this is hypothetical, but I could see doing an GH --> IFTTT -- (trigger action on Android phone/tablet that triggers) --> Tasker --> AutoCast Plugin --> Casts Music to GH . Of course I've never tried this and I'm simply brainstorming. :-) Here's a link to AutoCast's plugin which works in conjunction with Tasker. It says it can cast to Chromecast, but I don't know if that includes the Google Home. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autocast&hl=en
I don't know why AutoInput wouldn't click the "cast to" button. Many operating systems have different 'authority requirements' for different windows or buttons. For example: you probably can't use AutoInput to install an APK file, either.
Maybe try using the AutoCast plugin instead? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autocast
If you're okay with DIY, I installed an SSH server on the computer hooked to my stereo, (Bitvise SSH, for windows) that allows me to start programs with arguments, so you could tell VLC to start with a specific playlist loaded if you wanted to.
Since I realize not everyone has a computer hooked up to their stereo, you could use a raspberry pi and do the exact same thing, but you'd probably want to hook a DAC up to it, as audio quality directly out of the pi isn't amazing.
If you have an android phone with tasker, you might look into https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autocast&hl=en though it looks like it might be somewhat limited.
If you have any questions, PM me.
Been using it for 3 years now, I'll try to help you with what ever you want! :) You got the Autoapps subscription?

Then in tasker create a event based on "Alarm Clock". That will execute something when the alarm goes off!
I will update this comment later when I figure out how to do this.. was actually harder then I thought.. I managed to cast to the chromecast but not so my phone reacts on the alarm!
Edit: here's a quick video of how to setup Autocast if you're confused(You can change the url to a playlist aswell) Edit2: you can also use the 'other app' in autocast to cast youtube links.
For security reasons, the Cast API used with Chrome requires user interaction for the cast to be triggered which rules out a chrome extension.
On OSX you could probably do this with AppleScript. There should also be a few Android options, such as Autocast.
Look there: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autocast&hl=en
Never use it, but it should give you what you need.
You should try AutoCast plugin
For GPM, have you tried to add it to a playlist instead and simply say "Play <my-playlist>"? This still works for me to this day. Although I'm not sure how things work with YTM.
A potential workaround is casting your local music from your phone using AutoCast combined with its main app Tasker. Through these apps, you're able to setup instructions and tell your phone to perform certain actions. It certainly isn't a sleek solution, but a last resort.
Check AutoCast plugin, might help
So autocast wont work for you?

You can try experimenting with autocast.
Autocast should be able to accomplish this, although I haven't used it before.
My tip is take a look at AutoCast plugin for Tasker. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autocast
