When i was in bangalore, this app seriously helped me. Looks shitty and sometimes does not work but it is better than google or any other app.
You can use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bmtc
Apart from that you have to be check every bus which passing through your area where you lived, and check from where it is coming and where it ia going.
I used quiet a lot, living in Ecity, frequently going to kormangla and mg road area, using bus only.
Try this app, last I used it was pre covid though.

Has all route information, you can search by area and real time status of bus near you. Pretty neat stuff.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bmtc This app has helped me to plan my route sometimes. You could give a try to know the bus numbers.
This is a better app for this purpose. Try it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bmtc&hl=en
> Yes that's true, but Blore is exceptionally bad in this case. Different routes for coming and going to a place? Nearly all roads are 2 lanes, with no divider. In Delhi 6-8 lanes with divider and service bylanes is common. And those little SINGLE LANE exits to the sides of every underpass? Horrible.
> I SWEAR I saw an area where they had put up a board which said that this stretch of road requires right sided driving i.e. for some reason we had to criss-cross into the opposite lane after the intersection. Fuck.
Hehe, I don't drive, so never really had problems with these things, but yes, the problems do exist, no doubt about that. Bangalore was never supposed to be a city housing millions, but because of the IT Boom, it grew and because of the increasing traffic (In those 2 lane roads per side), they had to make everything one way to avoid accidents, this is the reason why you have different routes for coming and going to a place (Something that doesn't affect me as a user of Public Transport though).
Then because of lots of traffic, they later needed to make flyovers in the intersection to allow people driving straight to go without stopping at the signal, but that left only one lane for vehicles who want to make a turn, hence the terrible single lane side underpass. Bangalore's traffic at time is sometimes comparable to Pune's at rush hour; but still Bangalore's traffic is worse than any other city in India and we all agree to that.
Link to the BMTC App : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bmtc&hl=en :It Hasn't been quite updated, but can come in handy at times. It is always better to just ask the conductor about the route before boarding the bus. Only the newer routes have changed like the G-series and K-series. Rest of the numbered buses still ply on the same route as in the app. I am not saying that it solves everything, but it surely helps. Just a piece of advice, never change bus from K.R. Market, you will be confused as fuck, the bus stops for different directions are far away and in confusing locations.
