*some advice
I'm actually quite interested in learning Kannada and other Indian languages. I've tried using the Kannada Baruthe app that gets mentioned here a lot, but found that it emphasizes rote memorization over a proper explanation of grammar and conventions that makes language-learning so much fun. It's hardly worthy of being called a language-learning app; it's barely useful as a phrasebook. I also enrolled for free Kannada lessons with an NGO here (again, mentioned in a Reddit post a while ago), and found them to be both poor in quality and badly mismanaged.
The people who set up a lot of the newer foreign-language courses on Duolingo are people like you who were seemingly passionate about keeping their language alive in the midst of growing immigrant populations. So I suggest you get together with a few like-minded folks and write to Duolingo about beginning a Kannada for English/Hindi speakers course. Hell, I would've pitched in had I known any Kannada myself; I'm a total language geek. I've applied for moderatorship of the Hindi for English speakers course multiple times because I'd love for more people to be able to read Hindi literature.
But let me guess, you don't really care that much about people learning Kannada, do you? I mean you obviously can't be arsed to help set up systems for people to be able to learn the language well and proper. You do however, care just enough to take unnecessary offence and make snide remarks on people ask for genuine help on public forums. Because that's so much easier, right?
edit: I found someone looking for help with creating one such course
There's a Bangalore Traffic Police app that has a section for Auto complaints. I have registered quite a lot of complaints when autos have refused to ply and you can check the status of the complaints too.
The app's pretty buggy, not sure if the complaints are actually being registered either. Better than nothing though.
Here's the link- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kabhos.android.apps.fb.btp
P.S: You can also check all the complaints registered against any vehicle number.
If you have not got your voter slip for some reason, download this app which will help you locate your polling station and give a list of candidates, queue length in the station etc. Don't worry if you don't have your EPIC card with you. If your name is on the electoral list, you are allowed to vote as long as you carry any form of photo id like driving licence, aadhaar, pan, bank passbook or passport.
In case you have some time to familiarise yourself with the candidates from the three major parties in your constituency, try watching the 'Rate your neta' video from News 9 here. It's disproportionately focused on the incumbent MLA but they usually talk to all three candidates for a few minutes.
Just keep your eyes closed, and count your breaths.
Once you reach ten, go back and count from one.
If you lost count, simply go back to inhale:1 don't think where/how/why/when you lost count.
.
Breathe normally. and count as:
inhale: 1 exhale: 2 inhale: 3 exhale: 4 inhale: 5 exhale: 6 inhale: 7 exhale: 8 inhale: 9 exhale: 10
back to:
inhale: 1
exhale: 2
If you're like me, you'd fall asleep.
If not, this is basic meditation, will keep you less agitated.
I found this in headspace meditation app)

Have you thought about moving closer to work, or once a week WFH ?
Selfhost!
Get a raspberry pi or something and self host using next cloud. The data stays in your own hands, and raspberry pi doesn't take much space or power. There are native apps for different oses. You'll need a raspberry pi, static Ip, and HDD of the size you like. You can have other apps that protect your privacy and block ads like pihole, dnscrypt etc.installed simultaneously as well since the pi 4 is quite a powerful machine.
I use google one as well, but slowly I am shifting my work to.the pi.
Conversational Kannada: A Microwave Approach
I've gone through every possible resource including grammar theses, apps and more. They're either too sanskritised or don't have many useful phrases for colloquial use. This one is really on point and has clear levels of progression
I can send you a scanned copy
Edit: I suggest paying 500 for the actual book on amazon to support the authors
Register your number on TRAI's DND list. Then, report the number they call from every time they call as unregistered telemarketing.
They have an official Android app that you can use to do this. Once you register a request, your operator is legally obliged to look into the matter and close the ticket in 7 days. They will send you a ticket number that you can use to follow up on the request.
Sometimes, they don't disconnect the numbers, but sometimes they do. My app shows that my complaints have been responsible for the disconnection of 20+ marketing numbers over the past year or so.
Edit: Just wanted to add, Hathway is quite disgusting when it comes to this. I recently moved out of Mumbai, and got several calls a week from them. I would just irritatedly tell them that I'm not in bloody Mumbai, throw in a couple of exasperated "ARRE YAAR"s, and the calls stopped in a month or so.
it always gets hotter after rains, before winter, but should see the data for last 20 years? also more buildings === more heat generated and trapped

Here are a few vegetarian spots you might want to try out:
Breakfast CTR (Malleswaram) - some of the best dosa (savoury pancake) in the city. Ask for the benne masala dosa (stuffed buttered dosa) for sure!
Veena Stores (Malleswaram) - a tiny little store that does great idlis, vadas, chutney and pongal (rice+lentils).
Lunch/Dinner Rajdhani - authentic Rajasthani thalis (meals with several components like lentils, veggies, sweets, rice, breads and more). Southindies - modern South Indian fare in an upscale setting.
Try Andhra thalis too - lots of places do a good job, including chains like Nagarjuna and Nandhini, but you should try standalone places like Bheema's (Church Street) and Annapurna (Shivananda Circle, near Race Course Road). Your boyfriend can try the chicken/mutton dishes here too.
Street food - head to Food Street in VV Puram for a variety of great snacks.
These are the ones that I can think of just now, will add more if I can remember them later. You can also look up Zomato's Bangalore section with keywords that you're interested in (vegetarian/snacks/breakfast/cafe/etc) - it's a great restaurant guide.
I'd be happy to meet up, but unfortunately am moving out of town shortly. Enjoy Bangalore when you're here!
Gift him a subscription that he might not buy himself. I gifted one of my cousins The Ken subscription. You can also consider subscription for a password manager (e.g. LastPass), a VPN (e.g. NordVPN), a storage upgrade (e.g. Google Drive or Dropbox whichever he uses), a domain name, a hosting provider, an online IDE, etc.
Like mentioned by all Indira canteen should help you be frugal. They do have their app(Indira canteen) in Playstore. Shall update the link later.
Also, check out the street vendors/Home made food surrounding your area. They do sell for a reasonable rate as well!
Hey, Garbage burning is not legal and can be reported to BBMP. There are a couple of ways to report them.
On the BBMP Sahaya app - Choose 'Garbage' category -> 'Burning of Garbage'. Give the location of the issue on the map, a small description and submit the complaint.
On BBMP's WhatsApp number: 9480685700 - Give description of your issue and address of the location.
Through ichangemycity - Register yourself and raise a complaint.
Each of the above options should register your complaint and within a day or two assign an engineer responsible to resolve the issue. You will also be provided the number of the engineer responsible so you can follow up. There are chances of BBMP officials not taking it up seriously, but since we have been provided multiple avenues, we should utilize it and follow-up as much to ensure there is some accountability.
Shopping: Mantri Square Mall that is close to where you are staying.
Food: Visit http://www.zomato.com If you tell me specifics then I can try to fill in the details. Have the local breakfast of Idli Vada Dosa Khara Bath etc
Date Night Spots: If you are in mood of spending money checkout restaurants in UB City Mall.
Hidden Gems: See a play at Ranga Shankara
If you are planning on doing the Bannerghatta National park Safari, try to get in the first bus. Animals are fresh after their sleep generally relaxed and views are better. Of course dont go during weekend.
Install Ola and Uber apps. BMTCs AC Volvo bus service is great. Avoid autos.
Find a local darshini and make it YOUR place. Grab a coffee on the way to work. Get idlis on Saturday morning. Dosas for an evening snack. Get to know the people there - the servers, the other regulars.
Two of my favourite places for local food: MTR Halli Thindi
MTR doesn't count as a darshini, but no real Bangalorean hasn't been there.
No it isn't visible every evening. There are more parameters for it to be visible, i.e. the sun should be shining on the satellite. That is why possibly the application didn't notify you.
Edit: checked, the app I use did have an entry for 7.20 pm tonight. I use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.runar.issdetector.pro
They also have an ad supported free version.
Many, many and many. If you own a bike like Thunderbird, you will love Bangalore. This link will help you https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Av1dToKa6d9xdHFyRzJSU1c4d2IzWHRnWnVEMlR6TkE#gid=0
I know it's hard, but it also depends on what you are looking for. Guys can easily make friends with a lot of other guys. Crossing the gender gap is something of a mystery for me, mainly because I don't meet a lot of people outside work. I don't have strong intentions of making a lot of friends at office.
So if you go out and socialize via Meetups, that can help. Meeting girls via some friends makes things easier. I just look at making friends similar to the challenge of a pickup. You are asking strangers to invest their time in you and you may not click with everyone. It's a numbers game. So think again what kind of friends you need and the reason behind it.
P.S: People outside India may be friendlier, but the crowd in Bangalore is pretty chill too.
So two misconceptions to clear up here:
1) Wordpress.com is different from Wordpress.org.
The first one doesn't require any technical know-how at all. You can make an account there, select a free theme for your basic website, mess around with their tools and have a working website in a few hours. All for free. Only problem is that they'll give you a free domain that looks like this landscapingbengaluru.wordpress.com.
Which may not be ideal for a business card. Their paid plans that do give you a domain like landscapingbengaluru.com aren't cheap for someone in India either.
But you can buy a domain on a different service like GoDaddy or NameCheap etc for a few hundred bucks (which you'd have to pay for with a freelancer anyway) and have it redirect to your wordpress website. Like this.
I think this would probably be the cheapest way to achieve what you want. No costs except for the domain registration and you can make changes to the website in the future without having to ask a scammy dev.
Services like wix and squarespace are the exact same deal too.
2) Wordpress websites get hacked.
People are usually talking about Wordpress.org here. Wordpress is a free, open source CMS that people can host on their own, on their own servers. That way they don't have to pay Wordpress.com a cent, but they take on all administrative responsibilities. And some of them run extremely outdated versions that have known exploits. But you don't have to worry about this since you're not doing it.
go on the create tab and get a hang of it. its super easy. then probably make your child go on it. Its a clear explanation of what coding does and how to feed basic commands and how loops work and stuff. youd be surprised with that your 9 year old can ome up with with that!
There much less monitoring of a corporate connection than a private connection. If there is a warrant to tap your connection, then they will have to do it. As many people have mentioned, torrenting is not illegal, but the content might be.
Consider using a SOCKS 5 proxy with your torrent client, and maybe a VPN for non-torrent usage. I liked Private Internet Access.
I am not promoting piracy. I just don't think I would want anyone to see what I am downloading or what websites I am visiting.
If you are doing it online, make sure it's the official website or app. There are a lot of fake websites that come up first when you search. Here is the official app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gov.mea.psp
Once you fill in all details it will show the latest available slot in the passport office that you have selected. Normal application coule take a maximum of 3 weeks. Go for tatkal if you need it very urgently. Tatkal option will need more documents and you will also have to spend a lot more time in the passport office for document verification.
I have a rather passive - some might say even cowardly - but nonetheless perfectly legal and danger-less idea for you.

I think "no one other than him can park the car on the road in front of his house" is not completely correct - if he's parking on footpath, it is a violation even if it's the footpath in front of his house.

There's an app called PublicEye. You can take a photo and report any traffic violation, including footpath parking, defective number plates or wrong parking. If you see he's parked one of his vehicles on footpath or has some violation, take a few photos and report the violations. He sounds like the kind of asshole who breaks rules regularly, so you shouldn't have much problem capturing it. If you're really pissed off, just report the same violation again week after week. The violations are converted into official fines and show up on bangalore traffic police website. If he's caught for any other reason, these fines add up to his total fine.

I wrote about parking problems faced in front of our gate a while ago here. You might find the post and comments interesting.
As others have said before me, take an Uber / Ola cab, taking the bus costs comparatively less, but you would be dropped off at a bus stop from which you will have to walk or take a taxi again to your hotel. If you are a woman, I would highly recommend you take a cab.
Regarding the room, I would recommend you use OYO app, select an area of your choice and book a room, fares start at $10 and go upto $100 per day, trust me even the $10 - 20 ones are pretty good. They are maintained well and are safe. OYO supports Google Maps for navigation, so can keep an eye on route being taken, time estimate etc.
Step 1: Find a hobby you enjoy Eg: reading / running / cycling / board games / ultimate frisbee / slacklining / chess / cooking
Step 2: Find people who, like you, meet up for that hobby, on a weekly basis. Check facebook groups, meetup.com, playo, etc.
Step 3: Attend those meetups regularly.
Step 4: Once you meet the same folks who share your interests, you will make friends. It's just a matter of time.
There is a bus service if you are going late(honestly fun there is from 5am to 9am after that it is boring place) > More adventurous but also safe - Bangalore to Nandi Hills by Bus All buses leave from Bangalore's central bus station "Bangalore Majestic" or "Kempegowda Bus Station (KBS)". As this is a local bus, tickets (charge around 46/- per head) are sold directly in the bus. You can book the seats from ticket counter at Majestic with Rs. 200/- per head. That ensures your seat, nothing else. In the morning and evening there are direct buses. The KSRTC bus to the top leaves at 8:30AM from platform 13 (it varies, but it will be near to that). Returning direct buses from the Hills to Bangalore leave at 2:30PM, 4:15PM and 5PM. But the timings are not strictly followed. Bus might arrive earlier even. cite

There is this cheap place : WYT RestroPub on MG Road just opposite to metro station.

Try Tunday Kababi in Koramangala for Lucknowi Biriyani. Here is the link to it - http://www.zomato.com/bangalore/tunday-kababi-koramangala.
A variation of the Lucknowi is Calcutta Biriyani. If you'd like to try it try Lazeez or Arsalan. These too are in Koramangala.

One is reroll as has already been mentioned by u/vim_vs_emacs. They have meet ups on Thursdays. But I go to a meetup that happens every Saturday. https://www.downtomeet.com/org/Bangalore-Board-Gamers
These days it's being held every Saturday at 3pm in Dialogues cafe Koramangala. They also have a Facebook group.
Use this app called "I Change my City". Had faced a similar issue in front of my office once and they had resolved it in 2 days!
A common issue may be your router. If its using 2.4g, the WiFi bands may be contested. So you need to switch to a newer router with 5ghz WiFi.
You can check the congestion using WiFi analyzer app in android(link below). You can also check it by directly connecting your laptop to router via land

You pretty much never will. If you really want to use a secure VPN service, go for a paid service - nordVPN, TunnelBear are good options. I have a list of good VPN providers somewhere. I can try to search for it if you want. But they're all paid services
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kodeblink.trafficapp
Download this app alternatively you could also check on their website.
BTP on twitter is also helpful and they've shared screenshots from their surveillance camera's etc.
I personally use this app to keep a track of all the vehicles my family owns and also cross reference when these shady cops pull me over and expect me to sponsor for their Biriyani, kebabs and tea for the day.
This app has helped me a number of times. Most of the times these shady cops pull over and play with their phones and say Case Idde and immediately rush to remove the key from the vehicle. I would ask them for the details and meanwhile personally check myself on the app. They've tried to show me a screenshot and give me other bullshit server issue and shit. When confronted that there are no fines and I have all the documents with me they let me go.
Incase there is an outstanding fine to be paid it'll reflect immediately on the app once the payment has been made. Just follow the basic rules of driving with a helmet, carry at least soft copies of your documents using mparivahan app, refrain from using fancy number plates and use the standard font and size as per the rto guidelines and you are good!
I was in a similar situation a few years ago, searching for jobs. After my passed out from a not-so-famous college, I applied to startups, sent out cold emails asking for opportunities. Got myself an internship this way at this startup. Joined as an intern for 2 months, put in hard work with discipline, and ended up getting a full-time offer.
After that I worked hard, switched jobs, learnt a lot, grew a lot over the years and today I work for Uber - my friend in college who had bagged the best placement offer in my year also works at Uber now at the same position/level.
Posting in case this inspires/motivates someone. In the long run, a few months delay won't matter much. Work hard, learn, grow and you will get into a great job that you love. All the best!
I use these. Works for me. They told the hopes of recovering the phones are practically nill for my case
Try Elanic. It's actually an app to sell pre owned fashion and stuff but there's a books category now and ppl are selling old books at ridiculous prices.
Thank you :)

It doesn't remove the hardness entirely, but we have been able to see the difference in post-wash hair quality.

The second is actually true and needs to be done, the eucalyptus for one is a very invasive tree. And even pines to some extent. You might wonder then wtf are indigenous trees? To answer that, read below how many rare and unique indigenous trees were once growing everywhere. I'd recommend this book for the curious ones. Okay. I have good expertise in this area. Use some fresh milkymist curd for culturing and use heritage full cream milk ( no other milk except this) and buy this from . Trust me on this , you will have best curd.

Not sure about the droplet bit, but you can try wearing a riding face mask. Kind of like an open sock. Something like this: https://www.amazon.in/dp/B08SHSLZF2/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_dl_2XRJRTSTC8926KSKMXA7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I got this. It has terrific sound quality, good radio reception and a great batter life of about 16 hours of continuous usage. I got it during offer period for 2900. Currently 4990.
Rotimakers are kinda bad TBH. You can still reduce the work by a lot though - instead of roti maker I would suggest buying that machine which just kneads the dough for you, and make the rotis by hand.
Example: https://www.amazon.in/INALSA-Professional-Master-Stability-Whisking/dp/B08X2N2HVZ/
My parents use this, it kneads the dough very good and easily.
You can't trust them. Better wear it. Here is a link of the mask I have been buying and using since 2019. Modt masks give ear and headache on continuous usage. This mask doesn't. FYI. Not a seller. Just trying to help.

No adult, no matter their age, like to give up control of everyday small decisions and the life they are used to living.
So the best is to let them be and try to figure out how you can support them whenever needed. Not forcing decisions on them, but letting them know that options like moving in with you are available.

Order from Dope Coffee Roasters, it’s excellent. Would recommend to never ever get Third Wave grinds/coffee, it’s the absolute worst. Blue Tokai is only for times when you run out of coffee and want it delivered in 30 mins, don’t go near that place otherwise.

Sources for most of your questions
The Hindu gods I saw in temple were all white except Krishna. Did you see a black or brown Ram, Shiva Lakshmi, Saraswati. Its there in the temples and photos in houses, shops etc. What is disprovable?
Can you share a link that breast tax was applicable to all castes or women in upper castes Kerala were not covering their breasts? Dont share paintings!
I think you are mixing up something happening at your religional level with what happens in most parts of the country in Hinduism. Even the head of RSS is always a Brahmin.
Aryan invasion was disproven recently or they will get ghar vapsi to their original countries :)
Can you list me the Kshatriya caste in AP, Telngana, TN, Karnataka or Kerala ?
Lets discuss with proper articles or historical artifacts not just blind replies
If you wanna spend some on a good pair of headphones get these. The mic has amazing noise cancellation and is able to drown out other people in the same room too
Invest in a small noise cancelling mic adapter like this one - ASUS Ai Noise-Canceling Mic Adapter | Built-in Artificial Intelligence Isolates Background Noise, Enhance Voice Clarity | Improve Quality of Conference Calls, Music | Supports USB-C & USB 2.0-3.5 mm
This will do wonders. You may also install a lot of noise cancelling softwares if you can install them on your laptop. You can't blame the kids man, don't be that guy that we ourselves used to hate when we were kids.

Honestly, I’ve developed some hacks to make cleaning/chopping easy too. Here are some:
For hard veggies, quickest way to clean is to use the steel wool sponge. Just scrub the veggies (like potatoes, carrots, radish, turnips, yam, ginger etc) under running water and you’ll have them sparkling clean in 5 seconds.
Peel ginger/carrot/radish with a steel spoon - reduces waste, you can do it quickly without hurting yourself and it’s pretty effective
If the type of chopping doesn’t matter, get yourself one of these: https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01LWYDEQ7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_S8VCH3GK3E8X1EM46MZN When I’m making mix veg sabzi or need onions and tomatoes chopped for a gravy, I use this to get the job done in less than a minute.
Sharp knives will make it super easy to chop stuff than dull knives. So get yourself some good quality knives.
If you eat a lot of leafy greens, buy a salad spinner. Just soak the leaves for 10 minutes, agitate a bit and then spin the shit out of them to dry. No need to clean multiple times.
Unless you’re trying to impress someone, chopping veggies roughly is more than enough. But, if you do wish to have some nice slices/juliennes/ribbons, buy a julienne peeler.
I buy garlic pre peeled because I don’t have the patience to peel teeny cloves.
if you have a car, buy this and keep it in an easily accessible place:
I ordered the pickup tool from Amazon. www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07N6C4S22 is the product link. Price of the product was 399/- when I ordered.
The quality of the product is poor, I wouldn't recommend it anyone. The claws get jammed every now and then.
Humidifiers are cheap AF on Amazon. I bought this but can already see cheaper alternatives for nearly half the price now.

Hmm, anything that has a good amount of padding will do. I also wear glasses along with headphones and I use this on a regular basis. Got it for DJing but it's also good for casual listening purposes. Sound quality is pretty standard imo.
A rat trip like this worked well for me - Krisah ® Rat/Mouse/Rodent Trap Cage Rustic Copper (1, Medium/20.5 X 8 X 8 cm) https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07DZKG14P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_6BW7QMP92ZF31Y1ACPR4 Keep an onion inside. Apparently they like it. Idk. But it worked
Then i just took it to a dump and let it go there.
First of all, why are you still using a DSL(RJ11) connection, Airtel will be literally begging to upgrade yours to fibre at the same cost as your DSL plan, try to find that, Airtel fibre router is quite powerful.
Now to answer your original question, there are some factors you need to consider:- 1. As far as I know, DSL doesn't offers enough speed that 2.4ghz band would be limiting it and u will be needing 5ghz for utilising it's full potential. 2. DSL is going to be absolute very soon, and when it does, the new modem/router you would have invested in would be almost completely useless. Fibre connections/upgrades come with their own modems/ routers. 3. 5k budget is too much acc to your requirement, you can easily get a decent DSL router around approx. 1.5K that too if a good brand like TP-Link, D-Link extra. 4. Check this one Tp Link W8961N

>Indian English is a living, practical language, used by millions every day. Many phrases we take for granted in ordinary conversation are actually quite unusual abroad—calling elders 'auntie' or 'uncle', for instance, or using 'non-veg' to convey a willingness to eat meat. That doesn’t make them wrong, or even quaint. It just makes them Indian.
