I have it set to breaking news and never see gossip. Are you in the UK? Maybe since I'm in America it shows different stuff?
This is a tough one. To be clear, this is the BBC app you're using right? In any of those apps, make sure in-app browser is turned on.
The post didn't even contain a direct link...
I use BBC News, Reuters News (which, apparently has been removed from the Play Store for some reason, it might come back) and for a subscription service the Financial Times.
If you want something with a dark mode, Microsoft News is pretty good.
For something more US-centric, there is NPR, it looks like the app is from 1999, but it's due for a major update (see iOS version). Or alternatively there is PBS's more updated Newshour app, but again, last update was from 2016, it just looks better.
If you want something with video, there's Reuters TV.
You can get live news from Deutsche Welle, France24 and Channel NewsAsia.
You can also get podcasts for all of them.
If you want just a single source, BBC News is very fast.

Do you have a preferred news show? I’m certain that most of the news shows right now have their own app. I use the BBC News app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bbc.mobile.news.ww) for reading and Politic-all (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.politicall.app) as well. It’s a combination of social media and news app where people can debate, share topics, create polls, etc. Both are free, but BBC News contains ads.
I don't know how to do that. Can you help me? :)

Awesome post, Just started listening to The AskHistorians Podcast and it exceeded me expectations. So, as a thank you I thought to add some more the mix.
-The Bugle is my personal favorite comedy podcast. Its a long running, I think more than 6 years weekly satirical news podcast, hosted by John Oliver (formerly from the Daily show now with his own TV show as well called Last Week Tonight) and Andy Zaltzman.
News
-BBC Global News is a twice daily updated hour long summary and discussion about current events. The BBC News app also has it.
-Fresh Air is the oldest running program on the list, since 1987. Terry Gross focuses on current events and in depth interviews with experts and news makers.
Science and Technology
-Star Talk Neil deGrasse Tyson weekly show with a comedian co-host, which changes every episode. The most common co host are Lynne Koplitz, Eugene Mirman, and Chuck Nice. They discuss one Idea per episode about the Universe, Physics or Science. Its both a great way to learn something and be thoroughly entertained.
-Science Friday One of the most popular, and deservingly so, podcasts out there in this topic. It's hosted by ward winning science journalist Ira Flatow. It's a call-in talk show style divided into 2 hour long segments, usually focusing on nature, science or tech.
History
-Hardcore History I have been binge listening to these like crazy recently. Dan Carlin is our guide and the only voice you will hear on this podcast, formerly a professional radio host who took his show online. He's an amateur historian who has an amazing talent for story telling and dramatic recounts. I couldn't recommended this podcast more. Averaging about an hour in length to 4 hours, depending on the topic, you have a lot to bite into with these. He offers about 10 recent ones for free and you can purchase his past podcats/audiobooks for about 2$ a show. (Which I did btw!)
-Snap Judgement Is an hour long well produced story-telling podcast. Glynn Washington is our host and it's put out by NPR. They focus on a common theme and interview first hand witnesses or experts to recreate the past in their own words. I have only listened to a handful but they have all been worth it.
Unclassifiable Awesomeness
-The Nerdist Podcast This is one of my friends favorite podcast and it's also rather popular. It's an hour long show whose purpose in their own words is to talk about "what it really means to be a nerd".
-RadioLabs Is a nationally syndicated show on public radio in the states but also available as a podcasts of course. Led by Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich they dive into some deep topics that are scientific or philosophical in nature. Like most of these podcats it's an hour long and out hosts intro some topic, for example time and morality. Much more lighthearted than overly serious in tone, it's a nice way to hear some heavy topics explored.
