Just to explain the story of Blockfeed.
About 6 weeks ago we first launched our NYC news app Blockfeed publicly on THIS subreddit and the response was a little amazing. So amazing, in fact, that our first review from Animal NY quoted many of you in its review of the app.
However, despite all the great feedback, the #1 comment was quite simply: “android?”
We’re happy to say that after a lot of hard work, Blockfeed is now available on Android, in addition to iOS!
For those unfamiliar with the app, here's what makes Blockfeed unique:
Blockfeed is the only NYC news app that shows you the news you’re physically closest to. We do this by mapping the entire NYC news ecosystem, from big players like NY Daily News to smaller hyperlocal blogs like EV Grieve. In our first month, we geolocated 12,000+ news stories.
Having the location of a story allows us to create the first news stream tailored to your exact location in NYC.
Since our launch on this sub things have kind of snowballed and we’ve now been in TechCrunch, The NY Post, Observer, Downtown Magazine, AlleyWatch, Digiday and more.
As always, your feedback and critiques are very much wanted. You can post here or email me at ben (at) blockfeed (dot) com
