Yes, the big question is if MX Player got acquired by some company or something (remember Quickpic or ES File Explorer?) And now Turning bad... As I said it needs more digging and I am no Sherlock
But as far as alternatives go try BSPlayer
(Guys please suggest some more/better alternatives)
Edit: Typos
I just found that there is indeed an app (free) that allows you to speed up YouTube playback! It is "BS Player" (funny name I know). It works! Listening to the 3 hour episode at 1.5x speed. Ahhh. Not sure if interested, but just passing it along.
Good question, 'pede. I haven't watched it all myself, but there is some good material there from what I have seen. He interviewed a cuck socialist Mayor who admitted that violence is concentrated in the migrant community but blamed it on poverty (even though the mayor simultaneously said that the State covers all of their basic needs such as food and housing).
At another time, he was escorted by police out of a potentially sticky situation where migrant men were pulling up masks and don their hoods in response to seeing people with video cameras; police told Tim that if they arrested just one of the migrants, 50 more would show up in a flash. Later, Tim also interviewed a psychologist who asked to remain anonymous for fear of personal and professional repercussions. Both situations were surprising to Tim, since such things just shouldn't occur in a 1st world country like Sweden, but here we are.
If you want to zip through the videos faster, you can speed them up within YouTube on Chrome. On Windows, I use Video Speed Controller to go even faster, and on Android, in YouTube app, I hit share and choose BSPlayer to speed up the playback.
Yep, like going from 40 proof to 80 proof. On Windows, I use Video Speed Controller. On Android, in YouTube app, hit share, choose BSPlayer. Spicer does talk fast, so sometimes I back off the double speed. Still quite addicting :)
On my android tablet, I use BSplayer. it can play directly from any shared drive on the network.
No streaming server needed.

Maybe it's not available in your country or for your device (or you didn't know which one is the correct app).
>I really need it to be able to play subtitles built into the files.
This would be a software issue, not a tablet issue. I recommend BS Player, never had a problem with hard or soft-coded subtitles in that player. I watch a lot of subtitled anime and I've played MPEG, M4U, MKV, WMV, AVI, etc. with no issues.
A tablet with 64GB internal storage would be expensive, just get whatever tablet works for you so long as it has external storage (microSD slot) and pop in a 64 or 128GB microSD card with your videos on the external.
MX player is tough to beat. But BSPlayer is also an excellent battery-efficient video player.
Use this for music instead of video https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bsplayer.bspandroid.free

Gauge icon on the right side controls
Try bs player. Haven't it used for a while but might have you need.

Otherwise an alternative to try is BS Player.
