Tried it, didn't like it. Doesn't keep a running list of calculations. I can't get used to the way it looks, feels like something a child would use. My eye keeps getting drawn down to the = button, it's way too dominant compared to the rest of the buttons. I've been using both Calc Tape and fractions calculator for a long time. Op might want to consider a slight design change to look more pro. Just my opinion.
CalcTape is on the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.sfr.calctape&hl=en
I downloaded this one It's pretty damn good imo.

Also available Desktop version
This is my favourite: CalcTape
Calctape I love this app so much. It's a calculator app that runs a tape style history above the keys. It's like having a 10 key.
I've never used it, but this seems to fit the bill: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.sfr.calctape
The layout you describe is from a 10-key or adding machine.
I would add Calc Tape to the list

Interesting, thank you for the suggestion! It doesn't allow me to go back and revise earlier decisions, nor does it help me when tomatoes are $2.49/lb and the scale is only in kilos, but it's hard to argue with how dead-simple the counter is.
Turns out what I had in mind originally is called a tape-style calculator. I found Digits for iOS and CalcTape for Android that look promising for this style of tracking.
I keep the actual shopping list on paper, I find I like that better than any electronic method I've tried. But I do have a specific list in Wunderlist where I add things when I don't have the paper close at hand (e.g. I'm at work and the list is on the fridge at home). I just transfer all the items on the electronic list to the paper before going to the store.
