C.A.F. on Google Play
With Contextual App Folder (C.A.F.) you can create dynamic app folder on your Android homescreen and get quick and easy access to your apps and shortcuts just when you need them.
The app is currently in Beta (also listed in the Early Access section) so expect some minor bugs and issues which we'll try to solve until the final release.
Looking forward hearing your feedback.
After always having trouble finding a app in the app drawer I decided to do something about it. The app is currently in open beta and far from what we had initially planned but it already makes things a lot easier when it's used properly.
Contextual App Folder (C.A.F.) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ctxwidget - Create a contextual app folder on your home screen and get quick and easy access to your apps and shortcuts just when you need them.
Contextual App Folder - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ctxwidget - I have a couple of folders on my home screen. C.A.F. allows me to create a "smart" folder widget on my homescreen and I was able to get rid of some of my other folders. It is very customisable, both in looks and functionality. You can for example set it up so that, when you are connected to your home wifi, it contains apps that you regularly use at home, or when you are connected to a Bluetooth device, that it contains a selection of apps you use when connected to that Bluetooth device. The app is still in beta, but I have not run into any bugs yet. There is an IAP that, IIRC, allows you to specify apps for multiple conditions like being connected to wifi as well as headphones at the same time for example. If you like organising you apps into folders, I cannot recommend this app enough!
Is this more like the common 'dynamic widget based on location' type profiles or apps like Contextual App Folders, or something different?
Thanks
This may be more than you were looking for, but was exactly what I needed when I was searching for the same thing.
Not the shade but contextual app folder has a location option. Basically it's a home screen widget that looks and acts like a home screen folder with the apps changing on certain triggers (one being location). Works really well and is a must for me.
Assuming you are non-rooted, whilst I would recommend KWGT or even Lightning Launcher, there are also non-Tasker alternatives you could consider such as Contextual App Folder, dead launchers you could find the apk for like Aviate Launcher and Prediction Launcher or by using a completely different launcher per context.

Puts a widget on your screen that shows as a normal folder but you can set the apps in it to change based on various settings. For example - time of day, network connections, headphones being plugged in, etc.
I don't know if there is a launcher for that but there is an app called Contextual App Folder https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ctxwidget which basically does that. It's probably not as nice as having icons appear on the home screen but it'll do what you want it to.
This is not a launcher. But an app to add folders that contains apps based on context you define.
Try this if it has a time setting. Basically it's a folder widget that changes contents based on parameters you set. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ctxwidget
it's my first Widget, and I have made the clock to work with C.A.F. (Folder App), so basically it is a contextual folder .
edit: here's the CAF Folder demo. video.
Try out contextual app folder https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ctxwidget
Contextual App Folder also has Intents you can use with Tasker. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ctxwidget

This isn't exactly what you want, but I think it could help. Contextual App Folders
