Desktop notifications is such a simple app. It does exactly what it says, integrates with Google chrome and displays popups on your computer with notifications on your phone. Really nice to have just for convenience sake.
Desktop Notifications. A wonderful replacement for Pushbullet notification mirroring to PC. The dev is very active on Google+ and responds to any question and feature request. The app works flawlessly too, 10/10
What do you use to send text/links from your PC to phone? I don't want to use pushbullet anymore and already been using Desktop Notifications for well, my notifications.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for. I use it to show notifications from my phone on my work PC so I don't have to keep checking my phone constantly
Which chrome extension are you using? I had Desktop notifications for a while, it does all notifications not just SMS though.
If you only want to mirror your notifications you could use Desktop Notifications. The major advantage of it is it's completely free.
Depending on the rest of the project, for Android, it may be a case of tying into the Chromium Desktop Notifications and the Desktop Notifications App... Though I seem to remember that Chromium on the Pi involved getting a .deb from someone's private Dropbox, rather than a Maintainer-built one.
There's also the Pushbullet API though that may be out of your scope... as a Windows software dev, it's just barely outside what I am comfortable mucking around with.
OP, Desktop Notifications (by University of Stuttgart, Germany's Human Computer Interaction group) works really well. It offers notification mirroring similar to Pushbullet via its Chrome and Firefox extensions.
But they apparently do use some of the data for research. From the app description:
> The app uses a secure communication channel to transfer the notifications. We collect anonymous data to analyze the user interaction with notifications. The content of notifications or information about you is NOT stored in any way. We make sure that your privacy and anonymity are preserved. The collected data is ONLY used for research purposes. It is assured that there will be no attempt to misuse the data or identify any user.

Works not only on desktop but will also mirror notifications to other devices. Pretty nice.
If all you want to do is mirror notifications then try "Desktop Notifications"
It's not pure text, but I use Desktop Notifications.
I found a solution: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.hcilab.projects.notification
Uninstalling "push bullet" now...
This may have solved my problem:
