I don't know if I have seen loyalty programs via a browser for a brewery before. I might be wrong, however you make a good point. A lot of the functionality that app would provide could be done on a browser. However as a mobile developer and user, I can tell you browser based apps usually provide less usability as the developer is very limited to what they can do. Not to mention browser based app are usually slower than native apps.
Let's take ordering a domino's pizza as an example. You can order it via the browser. However that is slower and your user account doesn't always stay logged in. They have an app that does the exact same things but is just better and faster as it is a native app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dominospizza&hl=en ). That android version of the app has over 5 million downloads, who know how many the iOS version has. With that fact I would argue even if the app provide the same functionality a lot of people prefer an app versus a browser based solution.
