Honestly that would only be advisable if it truly is a hardware issue, check first in wired mode if the delay persist, aldo it is very likely that your own hardware might be interfering with the signal (especially if it has USB 3.0 which will most likely be in between you and the Bluetooth receiver, which really makes me wonder what kind of paradox this creates if you plug in a bluetooth dongle in a USB 3.0 slot), Wi-Fi also works on the same frequency but usually a different channel, still worth testing if there is less delay when disabled.
And in case you own an Android phone you can always try tethering its bluetooth connection to your PC using an app like EasyTether which might give better bluetooth connectivity without requiring you to buy a dongle.
